Why wont my rumle work in OA

Hello Rogue_Trooper, I do not have Operation Arrowhead installed but I got vibration working with vanilla ARMA2 and I am almost certain that the steps required to turn it on for OA are very similar/the same. Go to My Documents\ArmA2 then select your Arma2OAProfile (name should be yourprofilenamehere.ArmA2OAProfile) and open it with notepad or any text editor. Find: vibrations=0; and change it to: vibrations=1; If you cannot find that line in your profile then scroll down to the bottom and add: vibrations=1; then save the file and vibration should be working ingame. Once you have done that, launch ARMA 2 Operation Arrowhead, or Combined Operations, and go into Options -> Control -> Controller -> select the "Controller (XBOX 360 For Windows" listed under Controllers with scheme. After this you should be able to use your Xbox 360 Controller with the rumble feature enabled for ARMA 2. Have fun :bounce3:

    Game Won't Start

Hello Mpatton, The beta patch in the first link you provided is not the latest up-to-date one, however the second link you provided is. The beta patch in the second link will work with Operation Arrowhead/Combined Operations. Here's another link for the latest beta patch which includes a readme on the web-page on how to install the beta patch: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=10989
  3. Hello Raenir, I have been searching around the forum to try to find an answer to your problem and it seems that you are not the only user to have experience this particular problem. From what I have gathered from other forum members, it seems that downloading the ARMA2 1.04 patch then patching from 1.04 to 1.05 instead of trying to install the 1.05/1.07 patch right away works for them. I am not sure if this will work for you but the errors they had and fixed were exactly the same as yours. Therefore, I suggest that you uninstall then reinstall ARMA2 and patch it to 1.04: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=7448 If that works, patch ARMA2 to 1.05: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8820 And if that works and you want to stay up to date with patches you could download and install 1.07: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=10875

    A couple of questions.

    1) From what I know, you'll need to dive into the ACE mod's .pbo files and find the right .pbo and config.ini then edit the loadout for each unit to give them the needed supplies. I do not have ACE2 installed at the moment so I cannot tell you the exact files to edit, sorry. 2) Your user profile should be located in My Documents\ArmA 2\yournamehere.ArmA2Profile The lines you're looking for are skillFriendly=xxxx; skillEnemy=xxxx; precisionFriendly=xxxx; precisionEnemy=xxxx; There should be 3 or 4 sets as they are configured according to your difficulty settings. 3) It's been awhile since I read anything on this point but I think the unit skill settings and the profile settings control separate AI skills rather than one overriding the values of the other. The unit skill in the mission editor should control * Aiming Accuracy * Aiming Speed * Endurance * Speed and range to spot opposing forces * Morale * Speed of reloading * Tactical ability [url=http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_DifficultyBI Community - Difficulty

    Holster pistol mod -- eh?

Hello RolfLarsson, Are you currently trying to use the holster script with ARMA or ARMA 2? Also, is this the script you downloaded: [url=http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=2135&highlight=HOLSTERHolster Script by Cheetah The script hyper-linked above has an example mission that can only be accessed with ARMA and not ARMA 2. Also, unlike other mods such as ACE, this script requires you to add a few lines into the init.sqf file of any mission you want to play in order to activate and use the pistol holster function. I have not tried using this script with ARMA 2 yet, but I may do so to test out whether it would work with ARMA 2. However, if you are trying to use this script with ARMA then say so and I will guide you through in layman's terms. **EDIT** PROTOTYPE 001 suggested the SLX mod: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=7045 The SLX mod for ARMA 2 includes an action to holster your weapons, including pistols, by default and it is possible to not use every single function included with the SLX mod and have just the "safety" function. If you have ARMA 2 and want just the pistol holstering function without all the extras included with the SLX mod then ask and I'll guide you through.

Since someone is able to join your server and is able to communicate with you I don't think you will need to do any port forwarding. The button to chat in the lobby and in game is "/" (no quotations. Should be to the left of the "SHIFT" key on the right). Okay, just reply to this thread when your server is available with the server name and address, if possible, and I will join. Is your Arma2 patched up to 1.03?

    Coop?

I also got the "Timed out Connection" message, but that's supposed to happen if the port is not opened. If you like, I could try to join your server if you have Arma2 v1.03 to see if your ports are closed. But, if you want to open your ports: I have no experience with that specific router, but I did a search on Google and I got some information. If the information I read is correct then your router's access page should be 192.168.2.1 Port forwarding Steps 1. Type 192.168.2.1 into the address bar. 2. If there's a box asking for a password it should be "Admin" without quotations. If no password is asked, skip to step #3. 3. Select "Advanced Settings" 4. Select "Internet" on the left part of the page 5. Click "Address Translation (NAT)" 6. Then click "Port Forwarding" 7. For the "Protocol" select "UDP" 8. For both "Public port" and "Local port" put "2032-2305" without quotations. 9. To find your "Local IP address" go to Start->Run-> and type cmd -> and then a DOS-box should come up and type "ipconfig" A IP that looks something like 192.168.2.xxx should pop up in the "IPv4 (or IPv6) Address." 10. If there are 3 boxes under "Local IP address" on the router's access page type 168.2.xxx in the individual boxes. If there are 4 boxes, type 192.168.2.xxx in the individual boxes. The xxx is the last 3 numbers of your IPv4/IPv6 address. 11. Click "Add" and then "OK" Your router should have restarted itself after you press "OK." 12. Host a server and see if anyone can join. If no one can join then you will have to do extra configurations to your computer/router.

    Coop?

Well, if you are using Arma2's default port for hosting games then it should be 2302. To test if that port is open go to http://www.canyouseeme.org/ and type in 2302 in the "What port?" box. If you get a message that says "Error: I could not see your service on xx.xxx.xx.xx on port (2302)" then you will need to open port 2302. I will try to help you with that, but I will need to know the brand and model of your router.

    Slow Time Acceleration

Hello steiner1943, You can only increase the speed in the single-player campaign, scenarios, boot camp, single-player editor, and the Arma2 Armory. You cannot change the speed in a multiplayer game (even if you are the only player in a LAN game), multiplayer editor, etc. Note: I do not have any mods and I'm running the vanilla Arma2 (STEAM). Also, make sure "Time Acceleration" and "Time Deceleration" are not unbound in your options in Arma2. To do this, go to Options -> Controls -> Scroll down to "Time Acceleration" and "Time Deceleration" and they should be bound to "=" and "-" respectively. Or you could navigate to your Arma2 configuration file in My Documents -> Arma2 -> yourprofilenamehere.ArmA2.profile -> scroll down to keyTimeInc[] and keyTimeDec[] and they should be set to keyTimeInc[]={13}; keyTimeDec[]={12}; :bounce3:

How do i rearm the MG2

Hello mercyne, I did some tests with the M2 MG, or as you call it "MG2," and the best way to resupply the M2 MG with the supply truck is parking the ammo truck very close to the gun. Almost touching it or even touching it if possible. TIP: To resupply the gun, the back of the truck, the part with the explosive logo, must be nearest to the gun. Parking the truck with the engine facing the gun will not work. Also, you will limit the area which you can attack. You can also use a vehicle ammo point to resupply the gun, but the vehicle ammo points are not movable like the ammo truck. I'll let you know if I find any other methods.

Hello thierry007, Never seen the term VON (Voice over network?) used before but I would assume the correct term is VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol). Programs such as Teamspeak and Ventrilo are used for VOIP and it looks like you and your friends have that part covered. Anyhow, To Set up a Multiplayer Cooperative Game on Arma2 1. The host computer needs to select "Single player" from the Arma 2 menu. 2. Then the host will need to select the "Campaign" option. 3. The campaign "Harvest Red" will appear on the host's screen. To host the "Harvest Red" campaign online the host will need to select "Host" on the bottom left of the menu. 4. Assuming that you and your friends are not connected through a LAN, the host will need to change from "LAN" to "Internet" in the "Host: " option. The host can also change the server name, the server port, and add a password if needed. 5. After setting up the server configuration, the host will need to click the "start" button on the bottom right of the menu. This should bring the host to the lobby screen where the host will wait for the rest of the group to join. Make sure the host tells the group either the server name or IP so there is not confusion. By the way, only 4 HUMAN players can play the cooperative campaign. These 4 players will take over the NPC-characters in the campaign. The host will play as Cooper and the rest of your group can play as either Sykes, O'hara, or Rodriguez. (Character info (EN): http://www.arma2.com/characters_en.html ) You may also run into problems if the host computer is connected to the internet through a router. If this is the case, the host will need to change/open ports so clients can join the server.

ARmA 2 on a laptop - Can't access action menu

Hello phillyphoto, There are two default bindings for the action menu: the middle mouse wheel (MOUSE3) and the Enter key. If you want to bind the action menu to another key just go to Options -> Controls -> find "Perform Action" -> bind selected button. Note: If you are going to use the Enter key, the [ key selects the UP-action(s) and the ] key selects the DOWN-action(s). Press the Enter key again and the selected action will take place. If you do not want the action to take place, press the Backspace key to go back to the action menu or, if you are already at the action menu, to make the action menu disappear. :bounce3:

    Question about editor mode..

Hello joethe33, To place an empty vehicle in your map you have to: 1. Double-click anywhere on the map to bring up the units userface. 2. Change the "Control" from Player to Non-Playable. 3. Now, two more sides can be chosen. Pick the side "Empty." 4. Choose the type of vehicle/object class 5. Select the vehicle/object from the "Unit:" section. By the way, if you get a message that states, "No player is selected," it most likely because you're using the single-player editor and to preview the map you would need a unit with the control set to "player." However, it is easily bypassed by pressing "okay" and setting a unit to "player" later on.
  14. Hello Master gamawa, When I spoke about Warfare I was discussing the Warfare mode in the multiplayer maps Superpowers, Civil War, and War Welcome, not the campaign Warfare mode which I have not played. In the missions listed above, you have 7 or so separate AI teammates, the slots can be filled by players instead of AI, who can have their own squads of 12 of so and take over towns and cities nearest to them. I'm not sure if the campaign Warfare mode has the 7 or so separate AI teammates, but if not - :butbut:.

  16. Hmmm, The AI on your side and the enemy's should react the same, albeit with different amounts of resources the amount of vehicles/equipment varies between your team and the opposing forces. At the start of a Warfare game, the AI teams usually split up and take two to three cities at one time. But, I would guess that the number of teams is randomize unless there is a factor which makes one town/city more important than another. Possibly, the opposing force that you were facing were concentrating their attack on a town elsewhere and the remaining troops, in the town you were attacking, were just guarding. I have not witnessed the enemy AI attacking, in mass, a single town frequently, but it usually happens if you have captured the towns near their HQ, thus their only option is take the town closest to them with all their might. An example of a desperate plan of course. As such, it could also happen to you, if they captured all the towns and/or your HQ has been found they would attack your HQ. Overall, I would say their attack plans are pretty randomize, but usually they attack the towns closest to them and, if under attack, defend them too. But, if you really want the opposite team to mass-attack you for no reason, get someone to play on the opposite side as the commander and you'll have a fun time. :D Yep, given time and resource, the other team should have many tanks/light-medium armored vehicles for you to destroy.

    waypoints in Warfare (offline)

I will load up the game and see what I can achieve in the editor/Warfare mode. Tests: No enemies, one AH-1Z and myself as the squad leader. Giving a "Move to" command allows the AH-1Z to move to the location and stop at the point, awaiting for orders. Giving a "Stop" commands is similar to the ending of the "Move to" order, but stops the helicopter on location in a hovering position. Giving a "Wait for me" command is similar to the "Stop" command. Giving a "Stay back" command tells the helicopter to stay back and circle the squad leader. Enemies within the vicinity, one AH-1Z and myself as squad leader. Giving a "Move to" command with the enemies sighted made the AH-1Z helicopter continuously move to the location and out of the map. Enemies within the vicinity and range were engaged as the helicopter moved towards the edge of the map. Giving a "Stop" command gave the same result as the "Move to" with enemies sighted: just kept moving towards the edge of the map, without stopping at all. Although there were times when the enemies could not be seen and the helicopter drifted 200m away and stayed there. Giving a "Wait for me" command is similar to the "Stop" command: moved towards the edge of the map. Drifted 200m away after the enemies hid behind trees. Giving a "Stay back" command actually worked. The helicopter circled around me and took out enemies which were closed and could be engaged. But, for this command to work when enemies were within my vicinity I had to tell it to "Regroup" before giving the orders to "Stay back." None of these commands actually made the helicopter stop when there were enemies within the vicinity. Switching the combat modes or giving the order to "Hold fire" did not help either. The closet command I could give for a helicopter to hover was "Regroup," but that meant it stayed above me the entire time instead of hovering in the distance. The same reactions were exhibited in the helicopter/aircraft AI in my squad in ArmA too. I am going to test the "High command" mode, since the "Search and destroy" command can be given (besides the editor), in the Warfare mode and I'll tell you how it goes. Update: After playing for four or so hours and obtaining a helicopter, I transferred the helicopter and the crewmen into squad 7. The helicopter follows the order given by the squad leader of squad #7, but it does not follow orders given by the commander, me. Conclusion Your best bet would be to buy a helicopter, I'm assuming it's a attack helicopter, and to give the order "Stop," making it stay grounded at the base, until you reach a town/zone where you think you're going to fight. Then, order the helicopter to "Regroup" with you and it should hover above your squad, this way you can also make it engage specific targets which you can point out/it can see. If you want it to circle around, use the "Stay back" command and it'll take out infantry with ease while doing air-donuts. Or you could tell the helicopter to "Regroup" with you and it'll hover above you wherever you go, but the possibility of it being shot down would be high. Sorry bud, but it's the closest command I can use to achieve your desired effect. By the way, the "Move to" command is nice for Hit&Run tactics. :bounce3:
  18. Hello Alexrey, The AI which you are attacking are not the main opposing force, but rather the 3rd side in the Warfare mode: independent guerrillas (non-playable). The independent guerrillas are located in every single uncaptured town/city and are usually poorly armed. The independent guerrillas will attack both Russia/Insurgent and US/CDF, so be careful. The independent guerrillas also look similar to the Insurgent troops. They will also try to retake captured towns if the opportunity presents itself. Towns/cities which are under independent guerrilla control are marked green, while towns/cities under Russian/Insurgent control are marked red, and towns/cities under US/CDF control are marked blue.

    waypoints in Warfare (offline)

Hello DarkMater, When playing Warfare, you cannot set a "Search and Destroy" waypoint unless you are the commander and using the commanding mode (ctrl + spacebar). If the helicopter is in your squad and you would like to have it move around, select the unit with the helicopter icon and bring up your map, not necessary but the easiest way to move the helicopter is with the map, and click a point on the map and the helicopter will move to the point. If the helicopter is back at base and you are out in the field and would like the helicopter to move to your position, simply select the helicopter unit and tell it to regroup with you or assign a "Move to" command. Once in position, the helicopter should engage any targets within the vicinity. If you have any specific targets within your area that you would like your helicopter to engage, just select the unit with the helicopter icon and select the target - you can do this by left-clicking on a target that you can see or by select a target from the target menu (Press the '2' button and then you can select a target). The helicopter should then engage the target and, hopefully, destroy it. Side note - Helicopter Landing: If you have infantry in your squad, not including helicopter pilot crewmen Select your units and click on the helicopter. The helicopter will begin to descend and your units, including yourself, will be able to board the helicopter. If you don't have infantry in your squad Tell the pilot of the helicopter, indicated by a steering wheel icon, to "disembark" and the helicopter will slowly descend and the pilot will get out. Then get into the helicopter and tell the pilot to pilot the helicopter. Correct me if I'm wrong. If you need clarification, DarkMater, just reply to the thread and I'll see if I can help you.

    Slight issue

Hello Prodical, To use the command view, Numpad button '.', you must be the squad leader of a squad. Which training mission are you trying to attempt? Is it 06: Team or 07: High Command? In 06: Team, you use the command view: Numpad button '.' . In 07: High Command, you use the command mode: ctrl+spacebar. However, if the command view is not working even though you are the squad leader of a squad then I do not know how I can help you. But, if you suspect the TrackIR to be at fault simply unplug or disable the device and see if the command view works.

    BMP ambulance Price bug

I also have the same problem as you do. I tested the map 01:War Welcome on the Insurgent side and tried to buy a BMP-2 Ambulance, priced at $50,400, and I got a message saying "Can't reinforce. Group is at max size!" even though I had no AI teammates in my group. By the way, I bought my copy of Arma 2 over STEAM. Update: According to the screenshot above, you were on the Insurgent's side in 04: Civil War, right? If that is so, I think it is because the value of the BMP2-Ambulance was put in incorrectly in the Config_LightFactory.sqf Excerpt: Insurgent BMP2-Ambulance _u = _u + ["BMP2_Ambul_INS"]; _c = _c + [400]; _m = _m + [400 + _soldierCost]; _t = _t + [25]; _p = _p + [0]; CDF BMP2-Ambulance _u = _u + ["BMP2_Ambul_CDF"]; _c = _c + [400]; _m = _m + [2]; _t = _t + [25]; _p = _p + [0]; I'm assuming that the [400 + _soldierCost] is the reason behind the $50,400 price tag, but I cannot change the values since it is hard coded into the file or something. Might be possible to make the Warfare map/mode use an updated version of the Config_LightFactory.sqf to test to see if changing the [400 + _soldierCost] to [2] would work. By the way, I scanned through the file using the "find" function and the Insurgent's BMP2-Ambulance was the only vehicle to use " + _soldierCost]" Update: I got the BMP2-Ambulance to work!
  24. Would you happen to have a Creative sound card installed in your computer? The problem you're experiencing, and hearing, sounds similar to the "Screech/squeal of death" problem exhibited in Creative sound card. However, if the sound sounds more like the buzzing of a bee than ear-ringing or a high-pitched beep, I would rule out the "Screech of death" problem. "Screech of death" symptoms: 1. Game freezes. 2. Loud ear-ringing/high-pitched beep sound is outputted through speakers in a continuous loop. 3. Must restart computer to stop the sound.

New to ArmA2 and have some questions?

@evlbond Your weapon/ammunition If you want to give your AI teammates either weapon(s) or ammunition from your inventory, simply drop the weapon (Note: by doing this, you will drop all the magazines/clips you had for said weapon onto the ground) or ammunition onto the ground and give the order for the AI teammate, who is going to receive the weapon, to "Move" over to your weapon/ammunition stack. Then tell your AI teammate to "Gear" [Press 6 for the action tab and scroll through the messages until you reach the "Gear" action] and you should be able to put the weapon/ammunition, which you dropped, into your teammate's inventory as if you were gearing up. This method also works with Weapon/Ammunition Crates. Enemy's/Dead Soldier's weapon/ammunition To pick up a dead person's weapon or ammunition you could use the same method as above: telling the AI teammate to "Move" over to the dead body and using the "Gear" to select the new gear. Or, an easier way to tell your AI teammates to pick up a weapon is to tell them to "Take (weapon name here)" and your teammate should go over to the person's body and pick up the weapon and a number of magazines/clip. (Note: if there are many bodies in your vicinity it will be hard to know which body the AI teammate is going to go after). Hope that answers your question, Evlbond. :bounce3:
