How do I create spawns for other players?
Duxa posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Here is the situation... I have the mission start on a boat that moves in to shore and disembarks the player. I want to play this mission co-op so I put in 3 other soldiers into the boat by using unit moveInCargo command, and set them as "playable"... the problem is that when we get to shore, they disembark and stand around like idiots.. i want them to only appear if its an actual playing im playing multiplayer with.. otherwise I want to be the only one in the boat. Is that possilbe? All google searching for spawning only yielded hundreds of topics concerning respawning.. which has nothing to do with what I want. Alternatively.. is it possible to have just the actual human players disembark and others stay in boat (AI) ? That way I can at least just have them leave or something after dropping us off? Side question... when I set last waypoint as "Dismissed" the unit does not dissapear, is that not what its meant to do... for example... I want some planes to fly overhead for effect and once they are out of view to get removed... but they just keep flying around. Thanks -
It says open map "M" I do that.. then says to double click on the Radio.... I only have Compass/Notepad/Watch and what I assume is GPS... no radio there.. double clicking GPS does nothing. How do I use the radio?

So is the editor broken a little bit? or am I just stupid.

So, i was doing the "map wizard" on multiplayer to do some capture the base quick maps. The defaults work fine.. but here are 2 things I couldnt figure out. 1) In normal editor when placing a waypoint you can select "Cycle", "Seek and Destroy" etc... when placing waypoints in the wizard you can double click them.. to bring those options up.. but how do you accept them? there is no "OK" or "Accept Button" =/ only button that seems to work is ESC which cancels whatever i did to the waypoint. 2) Splitting start zones.. i want to have 2 people start in 2 different spots.. is that possible with the wizard? or no? -
How do you assign targets as a group leader?

how do I enforce them? -
So... ive tried this with 3 different people. Im the leader, there are 3 of us. All real life players. F1 is me F2 is player 2 and F3 is player 3. So I press F2 and F3 and point to the ground then click mouse button it puts a marker for them to move to. However.. if I do the same but insatead point at an enemy soldier or armor or whatnot... my character will say "Attack that <whatever it is>" but the other players wont see anything marked. ive tried this with soldiers, armor and helicopters... is this a bug? or am I doing something wrong?

Pretty sure its enforced because I disabled crosshair and 3rd person and all the guys that im playing with dont have them either. So it definatelly goes off the host. -

I dont think its the difficulty setting, because when AI is a squad leader and they do it, then it marks them... =/ And even with marking you dont really "know" where they are.. because it only shows last known position. In real life you could motion with your hand, without having to say anything where the guy is... you cant do that in ARMA, so instead you have to try to explain it based on environment.. and saying something like "to the right of that black rock!" they could be looking at another rock than you are.. or hill or whatnot. Id rather kinda motion towards last known position :) I really want to figure this out... i wonder if its a bug =/ -
So, if I make a mission and want to play it with a buddy.. do I have to give him the file? or do I just host a game and it will autosend it to him?
-
Yes FPS is everything when its playing at 5FPS, vesus playing at 30 fps... you cant play with 5FPS... and thats what I get in some parts of the game with a Quad core Q9550 and Dual GPU 295 GTX 2GB and 8GB of DDR3 ram.

The fact that I get unplayable FPS on a 3000 dollar PC with the best video card on the market right now (GTX 295 SLI)

doesnt work.. still same FPS =/

Woohooo... 20+ hours spent on this.. finally got it working.. Im pretty confident this will work for anyone with 200 series card (perhaps other ones too). In addition to trippling my FPS it also fixed the Bug where under Advanced Video options I couldnt select anything above Normal for Video Memory size (top 2 options on the left, textures and memory) now i can set them to very high. This is for Vista 64 bit, not sure if it will work on other ones. I have GTX 295 GTX (which is an SLI card with 2x GPUs) 2GB of vram. Here are the steps: 1) Uninstall the current Nvidia driver and install 182.50 from April. You can find it on Nvidias site under archived drivers. its HAS TO BE that particular one. I have tried 7 other ones including the new Beta 190 without any results. 2) In steam right click on ARMA 2 under Installed Games and go to Properties and under Launch Options put "-winxp" without the quotes. 3) Go to START -> (and in the Start Search thing on the bottom) type msconfig. Then go to Boot tab and click Advanced Options. Top right check mark "Maximum Memory" and type in "3584" and click OK. Then Apply and OK. 4) If you have an X2 card or a 295 GTX or an SLI of any Nvidia card (doesnt have to be EVGA, mine isnt).. install the EVGA SLI Enchancer from here http://www.evga.com/articles/00463/ (you have to create an account to download) 5) Reboot 6) Start ARMA2 from Steam sidepannel thing (desktop shortcut might work too). PS - I am also using the Beta steam version (not sure if it matters) but you can get it via going to View -> Settings -> Account tab (look at the bottom). BOOM! I went from 20-30FPS to 58-60FPS. Ofcourse the end user shouldnt have to go through this much trouble to get the game to run good. But this works for now... until BI patch the game. My Full sped: Intel Quad Q9550 (2.83Ghz per core) 8GB DDR3 1600 RAM Nvidia 295GTX (dual GPU) 10k RPM Veloci Raptor HD 1680x1050 22inch DELL Hope this helps everyone. Feel free to repost this if it works for you. Please give (Duxa) credit though if you do Thanks! ---------- Post added at 05:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:44 AM ---------- Just for reference after doing this: Intro aircraft carrier - was 20-25fps now 55-60fps Intro to the night mission on the chopper - was 10-15fps now 40-55fps Out in the field/forest - was 20-30fps now 55-60fps

I think beginning of the Razor Two mission (its like 4th mission) is a good indicator... i can never get over 30 fps on that. Spec: Q9550 (2.83Ghz per core Quad Core) 8GB DDR3 1600 RAM 10k RPM Veloci Raptor HD Dual GPU 295 GTX -

Slow texture load, no matter the resolution and graphic quality
Duxa replied to Overwhelming's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
i had slow texture load too.. u gotta use 182.50 driver from nvidia (april) it solves the slow loading issue. Any newer driver makes it so that the game doesnt know how much memory you have on your video card and makes it load slow. ---------- Post added at 10:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:14 AM ---------- just go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall current nvidia ones, and install 182.50 on top. No need to use system restore. -
Finally a fix for Nvidia 200 series video card low FPS (also fixes video memory/textu
Duxa replied to Duxa's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
You have to use 182.50 any other driver will not detect the video memory properly and will cause bugs. I was using 186 previously but had to revert.. and I knew this was too good to be true... i went from 20-30fps on intro and 15-30 fps on first couple missions up... but once i get to mission Razor Two it is again at 20-25fps... when driving, it goes down to 5-10fps. =( -
no, just do this here and it will quadruple ur FPS http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=76858
