No... Asus P5E has older X38 chipset. P5E3 would be using X48. -

Well like I said before go for max GPU memory. Bigger resolution = more GPU memory required -

You don't need new PSU, if your current is made by quality manufacturers like corsair or seasonic. Q9560 is far too expensive compared to q9550 where frequency difference is minimal. Processor upgrade is not recommended unless you need more cores. What motherboard do you have? Crossfire systems are only recommended with X series or minimal P45 chipset using motherboards. Because otherwise the another PCIx slot will be running 4x. -

Because you are playing with such high resolution, the keyword is GPU memory. So Maybe 2x 4870 with 1Gb of ram or 2x 4870X2 (with 4GB of ram). But because your motherboard chipset cant really run good enough with crossfire I would suggest single 4870X2. Q9550 is cheap / powerful processor nowadays. It costs about 199 €. And it overclocks easily over 3.5GHz. -
3D_Performance=-80000; localVRAM=1000; nonlocalVRAM=1995; sceneComplexity=150000; Try to add this to arma2.cfg. Then modify it to read only. Just change localVRAM to 512, or what ever amount memory your card has.

I have tested my 4870 1Gb with 9.5 and 9.6 with no problems. FPS 35-55.

Interesting fact is that, I normally play with very high/high settings (completely playable) and i tested marks with my settings, those drop only to 2850. Average framrate at scenarios is 35-55 Q9550 @ 3,75Ghz 4870 1Gb Windows 7 b7100 Auzentech Prelude 7.1 4Gb RAM
