Keep crashing and getting UNABLE_TO_INIT_DXGI
coldfragger replied to opendome's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I can give a rapid update here: Game froze again with all mods disabled. When this happened I tried to alt-tab out, but got stuck with black screen and no cursor. The only way out of this is to sign out (I use Windows 10) to force close the app, and then log back in. I see no option but to give ArmA 3 another break for now... -
Keep crashing and getting UNABLE_TO_INIT_DXGI

An update: I tried: - verifying integrity of game files via steam (all fine) - checked my windows installation for corrupt files using sfc /scannow (all fine) - updated my motherboard BIOS to the latest version, updated chipset drivers - did a clean reinstall of my Gfx drivers to latest version - ensured all settings in my BIOS are default (no overclocking of CPU / memory): CPU temp and Gfx temp are fine under load too. After all this, I managed to play ArmA 3 for total of 4 hrs with no issue... assumed it was fine... and then BANG it freezes again, mid-game, followed by several more after trying to restart the game several times. :-( I'm now trying without any mods enabled as suggested - will let you know how this goes. This issue seems to be completely random. -

Hi opendome, Just wanted to add - I'm getting a near identical issue here, although I haven't had an 0xC000096 error. I haven't played ArmA for a while, but since recently coming back I've been plagued by this random freezing when playing Battle Royale online. Sometimes I can play for hours without issue, or I have to keep restarting the game over and over to recover from freezes. I've got an Nvidia GTX 970 (latest drivers) and Windows 10 64-bit. I've tried disabling steam overlay, and setting memory allocation to system in parameters. Anyone had any luck with this problem? -

Random freezing on MP servers
coldfragger replied to coldfragger's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I'm having a very bad time at the moment - since ArmA 3 Apex has been released, I've had a freeze within the first few minutes of playing (which I had to alt+tab out of to escape), and subsequently a CTD since trying to play the game a second time. Both this freeze and crash has occurred when playing offline, which is a new (and unpleasant) experience for me. The crash dump files can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/eecqkau6am46zia/Crash_dumps.zip. If there are any nice people out there willing to look at these crash files and help me, then I'd be grateful. At least, I hope I'm not the only poor soul suffering from these problems. Thanks! -
Random freezing on MP servers

Here's a link to my most recent crash dump file: http://www.mediafire.com/download/t9sa8c723wu8b69/arma3_2016-07-10_13-56-17.rpt - it was from when I was playing the MP mission Gun Game (v0.6) (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=263170409). No mods were run here - just the base ArmA 3 game. I also have similar issues when playing the mod PLAYERUNKNOWN's Battle Royale (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=421900169). Usually the game freezes several times at the start of a match, but if the game manages to recover each time then its fine afterwards. I haven't had any freezes / crashes so far when playing ArmA 3 offline - so it seems to be mostly an online issue. Hoping someone can make sense of this crash file. -
Random freezing on MP servers

Nobody have an idea? :( Perhaps installing Windows 7 might fix this? Maybe this game isn't supported by W10. -
Hi all, I've been experiencing problems for a while now when playing ArmA 3 online, and was hoping someone might be able to help. Seemingly at random, and frequently, the game tends to suffer from 'micro-freezes' whereby the screen freezes with no audio. Most of this time this is short-lived, and within a few seconds resolves itself so I can continue playing, however sometimes the game freezes permanently and I'm forced to alt+tab out so I can terminate the app. I've noticed though that I can still hear others' mics while the game is frozen, so I'm unsure what that means. My comp spec is as follows: - OS: Windows 10 - Motherboard: Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero - CPU: Intel Core i5 6600K, Skylake (stock speed) - RAM: 8GB Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX (2666MHz) - Gfx card: MSI Nvidia GTX 970 (latest drivers) - PSU: 650W EVGA SuperNOVA 650 P2 (platinum rated) I've monitored temps and they all seem fine during play. I've tried dozens of suggestions I've found online, such as updating drivers, reinstalling ArmA 3, using Malloc: system, tweaking video settings, but nothing I've tried seems to work. I'm not sure if this is related, but I also get random (perma) freezes in a few other steam games (like CS:GO and dota 2), but Starcraft 2 and GTA V work perfectly fine, and my system is otherwise stable at desktop. If anyone could offer some suggestions / relate to what I'm suffering from here, I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

Glitch with laser marker
coldfragger replied to coldfragger's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Thanks for the replies, I'm pretty sure its linked to using the laser marker only, since I've never had any other CTD's when playing the game. Its 100% reproducible every time when I turn the laser marker on. Possibly an issue with memory allocation, since the game exponentially runs slower and slower until the laser marker is switched off / CTD... -
Hi, I think I've found what might be a glitch with the game... In the mission "Into the Storm" I find that I get texture artifacts (flickering white lines, purple sky) which eventually leads to the game crashing with the message 'Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered'. This specifically happens when I equip the laser marker and turn it on. This can be fixed by switching off the laser marker. I've attempted to reproduce this in the editor, although nothing happens (at least the few times when I tried it). Temperature of my graphics card has consistently remained low when testing. I think that this is likely to be an issue with the campaign specifically and was wondering if others have had a similar problem. Other than this I've had few other problems with the game (except low FPS in dense areas). All settings set to high expect: Terrain, Objects, Shadow which are all set to normal. Postprocess is disabled. Interface and 3D Resolutions are both set to 1920x1200. my spec: Q6600 G0 @ 2.4Ghz (default speed) Asus P5K Premium/Wifi-AP 2GB Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC-6400 XFX 275GTX Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Vista 32 Premium Dell 2405FPW 24" Drivers up to date.
