    Online is simply "Crap"

A few reasons why you will tend to see more team work in PR then ArmA 2 atm... Project reality 1. PR has been out for longer and has had the time to show that team work is needed in such a game. 2. PR has a lot smaller maps, enabling players to get pinned down together a lot more, thus making them work together. 3. PR has a squad/command menu that allows the player too assign to and leave. 4. PR has a mini map that allows the players to see where their squad/commander is telling them to go. ArmA 2 1. ArmA 2 has just came out so some people are still getting used to it. 2. ArmA 2 has a 25Km map that allows players to go any where with in that, so players can get lost and split up from their squad. 3. Arma 2 has a squad/command menu, however you don't get to pick who's with you normally, so you could have a complete numty on your squad. This doesn't stop you from finding someone that is working as a team and teaming up with them. 4. ArmA 2 has no mini map, so any orders given to you by your squad leader to move, attack or defend a target, you will have to look at the full map and then may have to use your GPS and compass to get there (which takes more time then following a nice bright coloured line).
  2. Indeed, RIP is a fun server to play on, that is the first server I try to get on when I fire up Arma 2 :) I try my best at working together, but you will often see me running into the distance to try and flank the enemy. Damn I wish I was at home right now :'(

    Uninstalling..

@ Wildone, Hey there, what seems to be the problems your having? you have a similar set up to me and I think I have just got mine to run fine (well last night I managed up to 4-5 hrs without any problems). I went on to this thread and done some of the things listed in it. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73947 1. Go to the EVGA link on this thread and download the SLi update drivers :) 2. I changed my pre-rendered frames to 8 as it says 3. I then went into my config and player profile, changed nothing in the config, but I did change my scene complexity to 160000 from 300000 in the player profile (I thought that was too high for my system). 4. I also changed my rendered resolution to the same as my actual resolution. These changes made the game playable at normal/high settings on my, Q6600 2.4 not OC, 4gb ocz 800mhz, 2x 8800GTS 320mb SLi now thats no power house these days and is still kicking :D

    Online is simply "Crap"

Exactly, trying to say the game is ruined due to a lack of team work online is retarded. The lack of team work has nothing to do with the game it's self, just the people that have decided to buy the game. And as I have seen posted a few times now, these griefer's will soon leave to play the next new release which will most probably be OFP/2 A few things to think of though, 1. I can see OFP/2 having more problems with lack of team play and griefer's, due to it not having a stable community to back it up as like OFP, ArmA1/2 has. 2. Has anyone else noticed that Steam has taken on ArmA 2 while Window Live has taken on OFP2. I would take comfort from knowing that Steam is willing to put there name to Arma, remember that Steam has been in the industry for some time now and can normally tell which are the bad apples.

    Xbox live on pc version

Since the patch for CoH I have had no problems joining a server. However every Windows Live game (2 games) I have brought, I've never been able to see a server let alone get on to one. Also hearing that Windows live wants to take over the server industry, trying to get more and more publishes and developers to release new games online for windows live and thus can only be run on Windows Live server. Boycott Windows Live I say, Oh Noo OFP2 is for Windows Live :p

    Multiplayer gameplay

This was my first experience with ArmA 2 I had a few days ago, now when I join a server I can normally find someone to team up with in minutes, around Heli's is a good place as your all going to the same spot. Also meeting up with "Lone Wolves" is another way to engage in teamwork, some may just be lost not trying to be a one man army.
  7. Hey BearBison, I actually enjoy the challenge of trying to find where I am on the map, however I was using your server for when I first got back from work (mind still active and still thinking) and then I was using Kelly's later on, when the brain was hurting (so I didn't have to try work out where I was). Nice to know your taking an active step to get rid of the small amount of fools that try to ruin the game :bounce3:
  8. I spent Sunday night mainly on Kellys heroes server, and had a pretty good time. At one point some KH members restarted the map and organised everyone for a first assault. And then last night I was on [RIP]'s server, which was also really fun, it did have some lamas on there, however I was helping a guy called Pio (never met him before), take out the side mission, and once completed. We arranged a evac for the MHQ by heli and got it ready at the second side mission. I could never imagine seeing this amount of team work on say Battlefield (closest comparison), it's just one more thing that adds to the realism in this game. *Edit* I will say one thing tho, Kellys heroes server is very good for people starting as they normally have player makers on the map, so its easy to find where you are. Where as [RIP]'s server there is no player maker, so you have to use your map, compass and GPS :butbut:

    Surround Sound Issue

Yea I'm meaning 5.1, I am using a Creative Labs SB Audigy SE PCI card with Analogue connections.

    Graphics Card

Well either the 8800's or 9800's versions from Nvidia seem to be working for arma2 with mid/low settings. But as most retailers will tell you, nothing can be guaranteed  ---------- Post added at 04:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:01 PM ---------- Well I remember seeing that XP doesnt like to run SLi that much as well and that is my OS, so that could also be the cause of some problems. I never said I get crap fps tho, infact mine is around the 30-50 mark most of the time even in the middle of battle. It just doesn't look as nice as it could do, but I'm about gameplay not about UBERLOOKS! and Arma 2 offers miles and miles gameplay :)

    Graphics Card

Well all I know is that I am running ArmA2 with 2x8800GTS SLi with a Q6600 quad core, and I am running it on mostly low settings :( it still looks amazing but not as great as I thought. I had to lower my setting mainly due to random crashes I was getting after about 30mins of play. So I am going to OC my cpu and see if I can get anything better, if not then I guess a new g-card is in order. But to answer your question, I think you will be hard pushed to run ArmA2 on low settings, but I don't know the rest of your system, take the plunge, buy the game and find out

    Surround Sound Issue

Well I got the game sat and I have been playing it since with full surround sound working. So I can only guess that it is something to do with your hardware and not the game. And about BI just wanting your money off you, if that was true I don't think they would have bothered making a patch for the 505 release, instead they would of just left it how it is and started working on ArmA 3, just like infinity ward with the cod series.
