What about date of new patch ???
Sinhouse replied to WizardARS's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
What a ridiculous thing to say, how is asking after something going to make it come any later? do you really think that the devs at BIS are really that petty that they will postpone the release of a patch just out of spite for being asked to much. I work in the games industry myself as a character artist and as with all things in the industry it will be available when its ready, no sooner and no later. -
Slightly off topic but I noticed that in the mission "Badlands" just killing the driver of an enemy jeep would cause it to blow up. This was consistent with all the defending jeeps around the towns and not just a one off. Furthermore wots with destroyed vehicles blowing up again and again, surely once all the fuel in the gas tank had exploded the they would just burn out. really irritating when one of your team get taken out by a jeep exploding for the 7th time.

Give the option to save when suspending play rather than just doing it anyway so that I can quite game when shot and bleeding and not have to load back into that state when I resume play. Make it so that team members actually use the mounted weapons in the chopper rather than just sit there taking shots to the face. Allow team AI to follow u into buildings and up stairs and ladders. A slide to crouch or dive to prone from running animation would be nice. Driving over steer fixed. Better AI for chopper pilot so that he stops landing on electricity pylons ect. More responsive map while in use and going in and out of use. general performance optimization. general AI improvement (pathfinding, driving ect)

When is Arma 2 going to be fixed for vista?
Sinhouse replied to Sinhouse's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I found out how to apply the winxp flag in an other thread and thought id post it here as well for the few of you also unsure. Right click on the shortcut on your desktop, select properties. Go to the end of the "Target" field, and type "-winxp". Make sure there is a space between it and the location of the .exe file. So it should look like Code: C:\Program Files\...\ArmA2.exe -winxp -

I know that there are people on this thread that they that use vista wiv no problems but it seams that majority are seeing best results on xp with mid range machines. What are the people who are succeeding with vista doing that the rest of us are not? -

I keep hearing about setting a winxp flag to help boost performance or even renaming the exe to crysis64. How and where do I set this flag? -

Suma That's interesting, what fps do you get and at what settings? Maxter Its worth a go, I will try it when I get home. Philll I meant no offence, I just wanted suggestions as to how I can fix my issue rather than sarcastic comment about me blaming microsoft rather than the game. I'm happy for the people who the game is running well for but I still doesn't help me much. still I was a little blunt in my response and for that I apologies. :) ---------- Post added at 12:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:51 PM ---------- technolgickill I am running 182.50 but i havnt tried deleting the ArmA2.cfg, I will give it a go thanks. -

When I first got the game I assumed that it was such a machine killer that my system just wasn't quite up to the task getting no more than 25 fps in any given area dipping as low as 10 at times. the strange thing however is how little these numbers changed between very low and very high settings. Im running it on core 2 duo q6600 2.4 OC'd to 2.7, 8 gig of DDR2 ram, Nvidia BFG 280GTX Vista 64 Now I know that my possessor isn't the fastest in the world but with my combined rig I should definitely exceed 25 fps on very low settings. From reading other threads on this forum its come to light that Vista is to blame for these shortcomings And would like to know when this is going to be fixed because its ruining a great game for me. I don't feel that I should have to go through the hassle of installing xp just so that a game that should run fine already does. -
The New Patch seems to have fixed my 3D sound issues and the game is so much better now for it. its running a lot better now to, and the ability to turn of bloom and blur is great. Not yet reached the area where the russian radio starts playing but will post as to whether the patch fixed that bug as well.

In that case I apologise for my rant and feel a little silly. :o Just installed the new patch and gonna give it a go. Cheers for the quick response :)

First of all I'd like to say that I love this game. Unfortunately I really feel that the sound design lets it down. I seem to be able to hear tanks hundreds of metres away as if they were rolling right past my head, Is there actually any kind of 3d sound in this game? I also cant stand the Russian radio clips. Its not the clips themselves its just when and where you hear them and how they play. first of all I should only be able to hear them If I'm near a radio (not in the middle of the woods), There volume should decrease as I move further away from the source, and when it plays it should only play one clip at a time as I'm often getting 2 with a slight offset which is extremely irritating. The sound in the game should be a good signifier of my surroundings so I can best judge how to react. If I hear the sound of a tanks engine or loud gunfire and explosions I should be able to assume that I'm near a conflict and should probably move with caution. However I seem to hear everything as if its right next to me even if its far in the distance Making my sense of sound, volume and direction next to useless. Please introduce some kind of 3d audio where volume degrades over distance and please fix those buggy russian radio clips. Loving the game tho guys great work on the whole :)
