4870x2 crossfire lighting issues
CapBadge replied to leefost's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I had this problem: What I did. Make a copy of arma2.exe in the same folder. Rename this copy to crysis64.exe Send this to your desktop as a shortcut and run it. I know........how the heck will this make any difference.... Just try it. -
Arma II is going on the shelf...
CapBadge replied to IrishDeviant's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Yes, at the point it's crashing now is after around 3 hours of cumulative gameplay in the campaign 'Dogs of War' - 'Harvest road'. The game crashes within a few moments of loading the save game. Only a couple more towns to take and I have an APC and 2 T72's trying to take Mista. -

I get brilliant performance in single player scenarios with EVERYTHING set to Very high with 16x AF set in CCC. In campaign mode, the game just crashes to desktop. Error returned just now was 'Too many virtual memory blocks requested'. This suggests bad game coding. I am also suspicious of the CPU usage (or not) with quad core processors. -

Guys, I have TWO HD4870X2's running in QUADFIRE and still get shite performance. I built my rig for around £3,000 9 Months ago but my real problem is the constant crashing to desktop. I'm fed up with this game and will be shelviing it like others. Looking forward to OF2. -

I have left the CCC settings in their default state which allows for the application to control these. My problem is that Arma2 itself (the program) slows massively with these two enabled at any level. I mean <1 FPS. -

Cheers mate, done that and What a difference it made. Just by adding the memory limit command to the executionable, my graphics are once again as they should be. It says for me that the problems being reported in this thread are probably being caused by the video memory allocation. (or lack of proper allocation). Still can't play with Aniscopic filtering or anti-aliasing turned on though  -

CapBadge replied to fjaekel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Yes mate, I have 2 HD4870x2 in quadfire and its the same for me. I turned off anti-aliasing and aniscopic filtering to get decent playability but the screen goes frustratingly dark at night (night vision sights are on before you ask). Gets fratrating when I'm about to fire at another tank and the screen goes totally black for aeround 5 deadly seconds an I can't see him. he gets me first. -

The catalyst installer does not remove the entire previous driver contents mate. Just try it and then run a driver cleaner, you will see loads of remnants. -

Yes, completely deleted all remaining folders and registration remnants. After messing about with the video settings,I can now get reasonable (although not pretty) playability with all set to very high but with aniscopic filtering and anti-aliasing turned off. The screen goes dark for a few seconds occasioanlly though. -

Yes, I always flush out the remnants of the previous drivers with driver sweeper and I also do a reg clean together with a couple of re-boots to make sure all is gone before re-installing. I was playing the game fine for around 20 hours in campaign mode until a couple of days ago. I have tried to roll-back to 9.5 and 9.6 with the same issues. -

I have played the game without a great deal of problems (other than the usual bugs) until I installed Cat 9.7. The game now slows down to less than 1 FPS. Totally unplayable even in low settings. I removed 9.7 and cleaned my system and re-installed Cat 9.6 but the problem now appears permanent. I even uninstalled and re-installed the game. I now give up playing it and will wait until Dragon rising is released. A very big pity on what should have been a great experience. -
Cfg config/bin voice003 error

I have the same problem and hope that someone has a fix for this. -
Not sure what you mean 'don't understand'. I understand that I have 4 GPU's with 4Gb of DDR5. Nuff said. How will you see if crossfire is enabled when you have an SLI system? (Or have you to hand another super Rig with ATI quadfire)?
-
Just for a few that may seem a little confused about the GFX cards. A HD4870X2 is a single card with 2 GPU's automatically configured in crossfire. 2 HD4870X2's are 2 cards with 4 GPU's in total hence 'Quad crossfire'.(my system). (4 Graphics cards essentially). 4 gb 0f DDR5 (1gb per processor). So, does renaming the arma2.exe to crysis.exe actually do something then?
-
Yes, Vista 64. game runs great but the benchmark seems low still for a £3,000 system.

What O/S are you using?

Score - 4068.2 Test 5 seems to be the achilles heel. Texture - Normal Aniscopic filtering - Normal Terrain - Normal Objects - Normal Shadows - Normal Post processing - Low Resolution 1680 x 1050 x 32 Test 1 - 41.4542 Test 2 - 51.0816 Test 3 - 45.5496 Test 4 - 52.9568 Test 5 - 12.3627 Couldn't take a screen shot of score. - But pretty low me thinks for a 4 GPU system. System: Intel I7 920 @ 3.8ghz 2 off ATI HD4870X2's in Quad crossfire 6 gb Corsair 1866mhz DDR3 triple. Asus Rampage Extreme II X58

Has anyone experienced crashing when re-assigning key's in the options menu?
-
Not benchmarked this game yet but My Rig averages around 105 FPS in Ultra high everything in Farcry 2 and over 25,000 in Vantage 3D 2008. 26,000 in 3Dmark '06. I7 920 quadcore @3.8ghz. 2 off HD4870X2's (4 x GPU's) in Quad crossfire. 6 GB corsair 1866mhz triple Rampage II Extreme X58 Motherboard. Fatal1ty Pro extreme 64mb X-fi By the way, where is the benchamarking Exe for this game?

I have done nothing special but my 2 x hd4870x2's are working fine in quad crossfire. everything set to very high 1920x1200x32.
