Getting errors trying to install the patch

How do you do that? Where do the files get extracted to? -
I rebooted and tried the patch again but then I get: Error found in air2.pbo. The first time it got to 52%. I uninstalled the game, reinstalled and tried the patch again, this time it got to 26% and then the PC locked up again. When it locks up, the hard drive light on the PC tower stops flashing, the mouse and keyboard are no longer powered but the monitor is fine, it just stops refreshing. I am running Vista 64 bit.
