The Op Arrowhead map is 'Takistan' a fictional place, if the PR devs follow what they did in BF2PR then we will see satellite images used to make maps for their Afghanistan map. It will be neat to see which area they pick. If I was a betting man I would think Helmand Province. :) -

They have their own forum set up ahead of time. http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f439-pr-arma2-mod-forums Lots of discussion over there too and ideas being tossed around, pretty exciting if you already like both games.:) -

It is, just folks can't wrap their head around why anyone would want to be self maintained and stand alone. In my opinion it shouldn't matter because if you don't like what they create you can ignore it, just as folks ignore unmaintained mods that do use all the standards that are out there. It will be interesting to see how a new style of tvt/pvp is accepted by the community. Also interesting to see how well the servers that run this mod will do. -

Excited that two of my favorite games are coming together in this way. I hope it turns out as good as BF2PR has been so far. -

Sci-Fi Arma 2 Mod
CplBlakeman replied to Hboybowen's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Yes it would. Only problem about macross is that the 'unseen' mechs from MW are stolen from Macross so you could have mechs on both sides that are the same lol. -
We were told more of a pause in breathing out rather than holding it. I believe this was because folks would take in a big breath of air and then make their heart pound and tense up, which can ruin a shot. In, 2, 3 out, shot, 2, 3

Where did the good servers go??
CplBlakeman replied to Rowdy426's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Can this gamespy info be stickied or something? I spent the last two days wondering what the heck is wrong and looking for answers only to mention it to another admin of another server and got directed here.... -
Sci-Fi Arma 2 Mod
CplBlakeman replied to Hboybowen's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Just release them all as one pack and the mission makers can decide if they just want to use one of the other. Maybe make them all available to either side. This way if a mission maker wants to just do gundam, then he only uses those models and if he just wants to do battletech he can just use those. It is funny since battletech and macross had a lawsuit since the original battletech guys copied some mech designs into their game. They are referred to as the 'unseen' in battletech now since it is illegal to use those images due to copyright law. -

I'm happy. :) You did ask for permission to use the models right? You have all Inner Sphere mechs from the Mechwarrior games btw, a Thanatos, Bushwacker, Raven and Catapult... :) -

Armaholic has a forums post of a guy that made a chicken walker style mech with apache and tank parts for the torso. Might want to check that out. -

Could you size up the regular human skeleton and build the walk model off of that? -
Sci-Fi Arma 2 Mod
CplBlakeman replied to Hboybowen's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Yeah and being such an old game I figure the poly count is already pretty low, which would make it easier to port them over if you got permission for their use. -

I'm really baffled by the way people are playing the online multiplayer game.
CplBlakeman replied to cadmium77's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
People can play this game any way they choose. I don't appreciate the folks that only want it to be a gung-ho simulator when it can be so much more and cover multiple genres if folks weren't so resistant to the idea. Right now there is a big following of the RPG/MMO crowd carving out a niche for themselves. I can see there being multiple types of gameplay with this big sandbox, because that is what it is meant to be... a sandbox. Sure you can run it as a simulator.... but here's a secret... not everyone likes simulators. Mindless fun can be just as fun as serious 3 hour simulated warfare, it just depends on your mood and what you enjoy. I believe games should be enjoyed however the end user likes, so long as the server administrator is of the same mind. If other folks are playing a style that you do not like or do not want to play...... don't play it. But the idea to try and force or coerce folks to only play this game one way is pretty much the opposite idea of a sandbox game such as this. If more folks play, Arma gains in popularity, which makes the producers more money.. which makes them want to make more expansions. -
ANNOUNCE: PVP script pack released

No problem, hopefully my ideas aren't too far-fetched that they can actually be done. Thanks as well for giving us a place to suggest new options. :) -
Articulated vehicles?

'Attach to' between the trailer and the tank/apc/bulldozer/whatever and I'm assuming it would be possible. -
ANNOUNCE: PVP script pack released
CplBlakeman replied to sbsmac's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : Community Made Utilities
I've been messing about with your script packs and wanted to give you a big thanks. I mainly focus on AAS styles since that is what I like. Would it be possible to implement an objective that when captured, spawns vehicles that will respawn there when blown? If the flag is captured by the other team their vehicles could spawn and not allow yours to respawn?... Hope that wasnt too confusing lol. Also a script where blufor can take out an ammo crate in order to capture the area and the insurgents lose if all the ammo crates are destroyed. To go along with this the blufor would need a limited amount of respawns, whereas the insurgents could respawn as many times as they like. Basically weapon caches must be destroyed for the blufor to win, and insurgents have to kill all the blufor to win. -
Articulated vehicles?
CplBlakeman replied to Flarmapoint 2's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
You could use the LVS (logistic vehicle system) with the flatbed trailer as a test bed for this. It is a USMC supply vehicle based on the HEMTT but which articulates between the first four sets of tires and the back four sets of tires. The flatbed trailer adds yet another point of articulation. It would be a great addition as a lot of the heavier loads are moved in this manner by the USMC. The trailer attaches to the back end of the vehicle pictured above. It is a 'gooseneck' style trailer. -
Sci-Fi Arma 2 Mod
CplBlakeman replied to Hboybowen's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
SOA... I didn't know anyone that knew about that game besides me. On topic.. It would be neat to have a mech, but you would need to base it around the same principles as the tank where it would have hitboxes for things like legs, body and arms. Personally I would start with something more akin to a Terminator suit of armor from Warhammer 40k, or an elemental from battletech. Basically a battletech mod for Arma 2 would be amazing as it would incorporate all the same elements as the standard game but add suits, mechs and high end weaponry. You might consider talking to the folks that are making the mod for Crysis using Mechwarrior/Battletech and see if you could even use some of their models. If so that could start a crossover and really help you along. If not then possibly talk to the folks that do renders of mechs for Mechwarrior 4 at mektek and see if one of them can help you along. -

CplBlakeman replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Is the ACE2 team in contact with some of the modders currently putting out content for Arma2 like Operation Northstar? I was wondering if we are only going to see conversions of Arma1 content or if all this wonderful new modding is going to be included as well. Thanks!:) -
Aren't the pilots supposed to be able to control the miniguns on a UH1-Y?
CplBlakeman replied to BF2_Trooper's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Pylon mounted I believe, and zeroed in for the pilot to shoot, not mounted on pivot mounts.
