  1. I don't agree with that. Firstly, PP effects are ressource hogs too. Secondly, pp effects are not meant to replace anti-aliasing or any thing else or to hide the bad LOD in the first place (maybe it was the devs intent somehow). They are supposed to improve the visuals, whether you have AA on or off. There is a coktail of effects in the post-process effects setting : - Motion blur, supposed to make the sensation of movements more dramatic/cinematographic. - Bloom, generally presented as a cheap version of HDR but it has a different effect. It adds a halo to the image, mostly visible around bright parts, which produces a softer atmosphere. When it's over used (like in most games) it "burns" the bright parts making them all white where there should be tint variations. - Depth of field, meant to reproduce the nice looking depth of field effect of cameras (think of macro photos). It makes for some nice visuals but is generally destracting the player if not used very carefully (i.e.: Great in cut-scenes, not in normal gameplay). In fact all these effects are meant to reproduce physical properties of the eye or of cameras. Sadly, they are rarely used with good parcimony. As to how good or bad they are used in Arma2, I don't really know as the game becomes a slideshow when I activate them. :)

    From a test I've read, things don't get "out of the screen" but you have depth "behind" the screen, like looking through a window. If the 2D elements like the UI (or clouds as stated in the OP, and probably smoke effects ?) don't spoil the effect, it should just be a spectacular effect and an incredible addition to immersion, from my experience of stereoscopy. It should also help to get a better estimation of distances. Doh, I want it ! PS : And from what the tester said, the glasses should fit over spectacles
  3. I think it hardly relates with post-processing effects or fill rate as he speaks about textures "poping-up". Rather look into the various level of details settings (textures of course, plus terrain and object details) as well as with the view distance and with video memory (I don't remember the exact name). If you lack memory, try reducing the view distance and increasing the objects details. Good luck !
  4. My request only concerned Eirulan. I just felt like it's unnecessary and annoying to have 1 person report the bug 10 times. Whereas 10 people reporting the issue once is of course a lot more interesting. So if other people have the same issue, please report so, then we can indeed have an idea of the bug extent.     Patch 1.02 Satisfaction Survey

    The patch lacks an exhaustive changelog ! Or is it hidden somwhere ? It's great that we can disable the post-process effects. It would be even better if we could individually enable/disable these effects. Other than that I didn't see much improvement, but I didn't play a lot before applying the patch.
  6. Eirulan, there are like ten posts or more from you in the last pages, all saying the same thing. I'm also a bit frustrated by the absence of response from Bohemia, but that's 100% sure they read this. Having just you pressing them even more won't do anything and it starts to be annoying for other forumers like me : we want to read their answer, not your overwhelming flow of ranting. If you have news about workarounds to that bug or other interesting info, go on, but stop the rant now, thanks.
  7. I've had that bug too. The formations look shifted by 90°. Disappeared after some time, I didn't notice why.

    Looks like you've asked and won one ! Now it's my turn please ! I'd like a key to give to a friend so he can play online with me. :bounce3: Personally I'd say I have a sliiiiiight preference for the original ArmA 2 over the Flash version. It really lacks challenge ; though like the original game, patience is a high value skill to have ! ;) As for the rules, I suppose that everything is supposedly allowed as long as it's not cheating with the score ? (e.g. Being multiple times in the top 100 is allowed ? I'd say yes, because it took me twice more time to be twice in it, thus I merit to have twice more chances to win :o)

    Same problem here. Same mission starting at the NAPA camp, the buddies just don't dare to move, they answer to the orders but stay where they were placed in the castle ruins. I'm running the French version too. Please correct this ASAP, it's indeed a game breaking bug.

    AI Choppers How To?

    Zoom in on the map as much as possible, you normally clearly see where are the forests, roads and fields. Usually I make him land in a field, as far as possible from forests. Also check that the terrain is relatively flat using the elevation curves for reference (a lot of space between 2 lines = flat terrain). Most of the time it's ok. If you can't zoom on the map, escape the radio commanding menu by hitting backspace.

    Hehe. Coding the various vehicles driver's AI is probably a huge challenge, must be pretty fun to do but really hard to get to a satisfying result. I find it especially has problems with obstacles in the middle of the road. Good luck Bohemia !

  16. Such a shame, I hate the HDR effect, it generally eats a lot of ressources for something that doesn't bring any graphical improvements and is just unrealistic and a visual annoyance IMO. Well okay, when I'm taking my lunch outside in full 12:00 summer sunlight and I look at a very shadowy place in my garden, it looks a bit darker than when I penetrate this place, but in ArmA II it's so much exagerated ! If you can't let us disable HDR, would it be at least possible to give us some control on it ? Would it be possible to reduce the lighting variations to an unnoticable minimum ?
