For those with powerful machines still unable to play ArmA II
Jackdaniels replied to Merefield's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well if you read the above, Suma doesn't seems to think that there isn't a problem with Vista. However, I have Vista also and the game is unplayable for me at 16 - 25 fps. -
bad graphics performance - BiS confirm?
Jackdaniels replied to 7SD-Toker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Not sure how to respond to the comment above really, other then to say don't give up the day job to become a comedian. Maybe just stick to what clowns are best at which is Making fools of themselves. There are people on here that say they have done tests and that the Vista OS is the problem, yet here we have Suma saying that his game is "running great" on vista. Also, judging by this comment from Suma, it doesn't look like he thinks there is a performance issue, so does this mean then that we are stuck with a crappy frame rate? -

Well don't expect anyone to belive you if you cannot provide the proof of what you say. Anyways, I'm tacken the game back to the shop tomorrow, see if I can get me money back. -

Please direct me to the thread that states they are working on the preformance issue, let me read for myself what bis have to say. Thanks!! You do know that 15 people isn't alot, dont you? -

Jackdaniels replied to 7SD-Toker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
No, this thread isn't asking for specific help - I think people have given up asking for help now, I think they realise there isn't any real help available. I could probably count on one hand the amount of people who have been helped out in this part of the forum. No, I haven’t missed anything in this forum. I have infact tried all the so called fixes just like many others have, even doing some “crazy fixes†like installing a new OS for just one game. The problem is though like so many people have already mentioned none of these fixes work. Also, I don't see how bis can fix a game like Arma1, (which took over a year of patches) then go on to bugger up their next game Arma 2. Surley the mistakes of Arma1 should have been learnt and fixed for Arma 2. Who knows, maybe this game will be playable in 20 years time when we have super computers. I am still waiting on Bis to tell us what hardware they used to test this game? -

Troubleshooting? Please don't make me laugh; I am not in a joking mood today:D. There are no real fixes here on this so called “Troubleshooting forum.†Anyways, I don't see you contributing much to this thread. Have I missed the part where you have helped out here? I did see you told someone that the patches would be ready when they were ready LOL - Is this what you would call helping out? -
bad graphics performance - BiS confirm?
Jackdaniels replied to 7SD-Toker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I would of liked Bis to have announced the game when it was ready, and not just release something on us that is unplayable. -
bad graphics performance - BiS confirm?
Jackdaniels replied to 7SD-Toker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Bis won't admit there is a problem because who would buy the game then? What I would really like to know is what computer they tested this game on? Because judging by the amount of complaints on these forums, it's got me wondering if they did any other hardware testing at all. It's also, "ludicrous" for people to defend Bis, by stating there are loads of different hardware configerations and that this is where the problems are. Common ffs, "GET REAL" everyone knows if you develope pc computers games that you have to be aware of all this before you begin developing them - Otherwise just stick to xbox360. I say again - Why didn't they just release the game when it was ready? That a polite way for you to tell people to stop posting there complaints here LOL. Sorry Bulldogs, but you have to be prepared to take all these complaints when you are willing to put a game out that doesn't work on alot of computers. -

Jackdaniels replied to 7SD-Toker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
So just because the game works on your computer it has got to work on everyones? If you care to look around the forums you would see that it doesn't run well on alot of computers out there!! He also has a right to moan he paid for the game. -
bad graphics performance - BiS confirm?
Jackdaniels replied to 7SD-Toker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well why didn't they just release the game when it was ready? There are people who get paid to test games and I am not one of those people. I expect to be able to play a game straight out of the box when I have paid for it. I also think this troubleshooting forum should be closed down. Let’s face it, it's just full of fan boys ready to rip into people for saying they have a problem with the game. Don't think on the same lines as them and you are a whinger along with all the other playground names they choose to call you. So people be warned, if you are not willing to wait months on end for the Bis patches, change your OS from Vista to Xp, or dabble changing this file and that file, be prepared to take the stick in this playground. -
Mavrocket - Hold on... You come to a trouble shooting forum to tell people to give it a rest? Good joke that one... You were joking right? After all, this game isn't Flight Simulator X. Infact your comparisons couldn’t be further apart. Take Flight Sim x. Where all you have got to worry about is sitting with a joystick in hand for hours on end while you fly the world. Or should I say press the auto pilot button and just sit there staring at your monitor for hours doing nothing. It’s no wonder that Fps don’t really matter in a game like Flight simulator x. I found 25 fps in that game enough for what there is to do in the game. Now take Arma 2, drop yourself in the middle of a battle and remind me that Fps doesn’t count in a game like this. Anybody who knows anything about gamming knows. That a game, like Arma 2, has to have an acceptable fps. I would say anything dropping below 35 Fps for a game like this is unplayable. It’s hardly alot of fun when you feel like you are running through treacle, and it's even worse trying to target the enemy in slow motion.

Arma 2 Stability and performance Result
Jackdaniels replied to volkov956's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Thankyou for all the effort you put into this, but I for one am not going to install windows Xp just to play one game. I am infact tacking this back to the shop for a refund and I shouldn't have a problem getting my money back. After all, it states on the box that it is compatible with windows vista and it is clearly isn't. -
Check to see if you need x86(32bit) or x64(64bit) version of the program...

Yes contact the publisher. -
Game completely unplayable, textures corrupt and not loading! Vista64/Gtx295/8gigs
Jackdaniels replied to chlywly's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Whats the point in that? He's hardly going to be playing on his own in the editor. It's in the game itself where Fps are most important. Not the editor where there is only you and nothing else going on. -
ARMA II and me. Good news actually!
Jackdaniels replied to Xeldrake's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Xeldrake - Between 40-50 fps eh? Now can you tell us exactly where you are when you get this frame rate. I mean, are you in the editor, single player, coop, Ctf, Tdm, warfare, Evo etc.. Go try a 30 player Evo sever and come back and tell us the Fps you are getting. -
Finally Got Decent, Stable Framerate!!
Jackdaniels replied to mcallon's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Can I suggest you do benchmark the fps before declaring that you have a stable frame rate. I did what you did and although the game did appear to be smoother at first, I later found out after using Fraps, that I was infact still only getting 18 - 27 FPS. Try joining a 30 player Evolution server and see if it's still so smooth. I also thought I had found a fix untill I tried the things I have mentioned. -
Can someone from Bis comment on the FPS issue!!
Jackdaniels posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Why doesn't someone from BIS comment on the issue of FPS? 20 FPS is a joke on a computer like mine. I have spent along time changing every single setting that I can think of, but I am still getting a crappy 20-24 FPS. Why produce a game that doesn't run on half of the computers it's suppose to run on? Just look at all the complaints in the forums and at least give some advice on this issue. My specs should be more then capable of running this game. Motherboard: Asus crosshair Cpu: Amd64 dual core 3.21 ghz Ram: 4gb Graphics Card Geforce 260 GTX Windows: Vista 32Bit Sound: Card Adigy Gamer -
Can someone from Bis comment on the FPS issue!!
Jackdaniels replied to Jackdaniels's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Bulldogs - thankyou for your time and effort, but can you count up how many people have had their game fixed due to your ideas on fixing the game? Because looking at the comment you highlighted from by Rhodite, it appears that there isn't that many. I am not been funny here, but I am struggling to find the many people who you said that these fixes worked for. -
Can someone from Bis comment on the FPS issue!!
Jackdaniels replied to Jackdaniels's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Can you direct me to a topic where the suggestions you have made have helped many people fix these problems. This will be an intresting read because other than installing another OS, (which i have already tried) I am at a loss at what else do. Can you Provide this link please - Then many other people that are still posting about the same issue can visit it aswell. Thanks!! -
Can someone from Bis comment on the FPS issue!!
Jackdaniels replied to Jackdaniels's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
So it's our fault that this thread has become bigger? Maybe you should read the thread again including the heading. I asked someone to explain my low fps, but nobody came forwards to address the real problem. Swapping and changing my "Windows OS" for just one game, are you serious? Iucky for me I had a spare harddrive and was able to test this game using a clean install of windows 7, but guess what - Never fixed my issue. Maybe a 2 page argument wouldn't have started had certain people not been quick to blame people's high end computers for these issues. I think cosmokev has got this about right unless anyone else can prove him wrong here. So what do you have me belive that will make this game run right? Take out my 200 series card and install an older one? Install windows xp? Or was it windows 7? Maybe I should replace my motherboard for an older one aswell while I'm at it. BigBear dude - You really need the full game to comment on this and not just some demo. Isn't that a bit like watching a trailer to a movie and commenting on it before you have seen it in full. -
Can someone from Bis comment on the FPS issue!!
Jackdaniels replied to Jackdaniels's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
binkster - And so the question remains what driver and video card did BI use to test the game? You also say: " I disagree... From my findings ATI runs good on Vista and Win7 and no so good in XP." Well maybe - Just maybe, on his rig he has found a different finding to you. After all, isn't this what the problem is all about? Finding different results on different computers? This topic is really becomming a joke now. When are people going to stop putting the blame on people's computers and Nvidia? Tell me what Nvidia driver did Bis build this game around if you think it's Nvidias fault? I'll go install it now if I know. BigBear - How can you really comment when you are playing a demo of the game? -
Can someone from Bis comment on the FPS issue!!
Jackdaniels replied to Jackdaniels's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
cosmokev - I cannot wait to see a reply to your posts. Someone will really have to come up with something good to make you look foolish. Maybe they will use the cheap tactic and accuse you of whining/nagging lol. I just hope nobody considers locking this thread just yet. -
Can someone from Bis comment on the FPS issue!!
Jackdaniels replied to Jackdaniels's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Maybe a word from Bis that such a problem does exist would help. Followed by a patch to fix it. Can people also stop blaming the Nvidia drivers and the fact that people have the Nvidia 200 series cards. This game should have been tested and built around such cards, so please drop the it's all Nvidias fault!! BigBear - What more info do you require exactly? People have given you the specs of their computers and told you they have a FPS Issue. What more info can they give you that would help matters? Can you also tell me, in a 30 player Evolution game, what your Fps are you getting BigBear? And if you do get a good Fps, then maybe could divulge what computer specs you have aswell? Not that I'll be rushing out and getting the same specs as you, but just out of curiosity I would like to know. -
Fast PC, but Bad FPS Regardless of What I Do - HELP!?
Jackdaniels replied to Brew Crew's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
So did they release this game before testing it on a high end gamming card? I thought the whole point of upgrading a graphics card was to get a better game experience. I might just try installing this on my old zx spectrum, can you get this game on cassette tape...lol -
Can someone from Bis comment on the FPS issue!!
Jackdaniels replied to Jackdaniels's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I don't think you will be granted your wish. From what I am reading into here, it looks like anyone suffering a bad FPS will just be told that it is their computer at fault. Even though I have done a fresh install of windows 7, and my computer more than matches the specs required to run this game. Or maybe you will be told that it's all Nvidia's fault - The Driver's for the cards or even the 200 series Cards themselves that are at fault etc...etc... But I have heard all this somewhere before and I don't buy into it anymore now. Me thinks it's time to move on, I get the feeling I am wasting my time with this issue!!
