I cannot for the LIFE of me figure out how to get the EAS module to load. I place it in the editor but the trailer does not appear. I tried placing it DIRECTLY on top of a hanger but I still got an error message! When I tried loading it with this setVariable["NoHangar", 1] the error no longer occurred but the trailer was no where to be found. I feel as though I MUST be missing something here.

[Resolved] Trouble with HD 6870
aurondude replied to aurondude's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
That seems to have done the trick. Thanks a ton man. -
Ever since I upgraded my card to a 6870, I've been getting a serious error with ArmA 2. Whenever I start a game (either joining a server or starting a mission), the game will often go for about 5-6 seconds, freeze, then the screen will turn black (with jagged white lines across the base of it) and sound errors will briefly occur (beeping noises in my headphones). Sometimes the fan of my video card will speed up for a few seconds or so, then die back down. After that, I see the desktop, although ArmA is the main 'selected' window, and I can still move and shoot and hear what is going on and whatnot. I then have to ALT+F4 to exit the game. Sometimes I notice a message saying ATI drivers have failed and successfully recovered, but it is not always there. Uninstalling/reinstalling/updating drivers have yielded no results. Reinstalling my video card (actually removing and re-inserting it into my mobo) has yielded no results. Using three different power supplies has yielded no results (very likely not an issue with power). Not an issue with temperatures (I have monitored temps whilst recreating the error, and they have never been beyond normal levels). Also, the problem is sporadic. Sometimes, I can start playing and it won't happen at all. Sometimes it will take a good 5-10 minutes before it happens. It also seems to only happen when playing Combined Ops, but I am not sure about whether thats coincidence if that has some significance. Playing with the video options also yields no results. In addition, ArmA 2 is the only game that experiences issues, though it is probably the most graphically intensive game I have. Basically, I have exhausted every single thing I can think of. Right now, I am simply down to a luck basis; I just pray every time I play that my game doesn't crash. Also, there are no error logs to be found in the ArmA 2 folder, because the game itself technically doesn't crash to desktop, it continues running, but I am left staring at my desktop. Also note, the game crashes after 5-6 seconds of actual gameplay. I can use the menu and what not just fine.

[COOP/SP] Marshal of Savanna [sandbox A2 Isla Duala]
aurondude replied to ArmAIIholic's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
While I am horrible at mission-making (the WICT tool is WAY too confusing for me), I can write/flesh-out the story for you. Just let me know if you need some kind of story/mission briefing made, and I'd be happy to help. Just to clarify: So two factions are trying to capture a weapons dealer who was helping BLUFOR smuggle weapons. Somehow this man was captured by someone named Mahdi, who is part of OPFOR, and even though Mahdi and this weapon's dealer (Hamada) are friends, Mahdi is holding Hamada captive. So OPFOR has the BLUFOR weapon's dealer captive, but as a twist, OPFOR has weapons smuggled in by BLUFOR, and everyone involved in the BLUFOR smuggling operation has died, so it is possible that Hamada isn't a captive, but is actually working for OPFOR, but you aren't sure. Is that all right, or did I misunderstand you somewhere? -
Module: Visual House Positions
aurondude replied to Grizzle's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Gotcha. Thats where I was having the most trouble; I wasn't sure how to view house ID's (instead I relied on nearestbuilding or whatever that command is, which proved of course to be rather tedious). Thanks again for the assistance; it can be quite intimidating when browsing through the scripting forums for someone who is new to mission making. Edit: Wow, thanks a lot for that example. Things are quite a bit more clear now, and I can't thank you enough. -

Just for clarification; How does one use the script provided in the first post? Forgive me for my nooby-ness (I am new to mission making), but from what I understand, you input information provided by the addon (the information that is copied to the clipboard) and the building name is output? How does one run the script so that they could get said output? Sorry if I am sounding vague, just doing my best to understand all this XD -

Works perfectly for me using Operation Arrowhead + ArmA 2 on Steam. -

Yeah, I saw that, but I didn't see any method as to how to use addons from the other folder. Edit: So I have to transfer all of my mods into my OA folder? Edit edit: Ah, I see now. Thanks for the help. -

Yeah, same setup here. That isn't what I meant though. The problem I am having is I can't run addons from my ArmA 2 folder in Operation Arrowhead, or vice versa. I have a ton of addons, and it is going to be a huge hassle redownloading all of them just so I can run them on Operation Arrowhead. From what I understand, those without Steam downloaded/installed the games in the same directory, so this isn't a problem. -

At the very least, it would have been nice to get a warning that you wouldn't be able to use your addons. Unless someone has thought of a way to do it? -

:/ ArmA 2 and OA downloaded to two different directories. Is there any way to combine the two folders? (without messing with Steam's settings). -

Quick question regarding addons. I have both the Steam Versions of ArmA 2 and ArmA 2:OA. I have nearly 5 gigs of addons in my ArmA 2 folder, and wish to use many of them in OA. Will I have to copy all of my addons again just so I can use those addons in OA? Thanks in advance. -
Don't get me wrong, your points are good. It is true, PR runs off an older game and thus has less system requirements. However the main (if not the only) advantage PR has over ArmA 2 is, as aforementioned, team play. The fact of the matter is, you must communicate with your squad and you must work with one another if you ever want to win. I agree that you can join a clan and have the same experience, however you do not need to do the same in PR, where most servers have mature players and reasonable admins (to host a server in PR, you must get accepted, greatly lowering the amount of asshats who own servers). ArmA 2 has better options, is more flexible, and is far more realistic. However PR's first priority is Teamwork, and realism comes second (although in PR's case the two often go hand in hand). I really insist you try the game, BF2 is only $10 or something along those lines. I do believe you will change your opinion once you give it a go.

I'm really baffled by the way people are playing the online multiplayer game.
aurondude replied to cadmium77's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
While I mostly agree with the post of the OP, I laughed quite hard when he compared PR to ArmA 2. Ironically, Project Reality has far more teamwork then ArmA 2. Why? Its pratically forced onto the player. You will seldom if EVER see a project reality server with people running around playing ninja elite sniper man. While in ArmA 2, on the other hand, you have just what the OP described; super sniper men with AT's jumping in attack helos and one-manning shit. In addition, you are comparing Project Reality to Counter Strike? Really? REALLY? Insulting a game that you are poor at or that you didn't play (either of which must be true, otherwise you wouldn't be saying the things you said) won't make online any better for ArmA. Fact of the matter is, ArmA II is made in a way where people can get away with not working with team mates at ALL. Project Reality is just the opposite ;D
