Game CPU-Optimization - no troubleshooting !
Herbal Influence replied to Herbal Influence's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Wow - thanx for the nice graphic! Can't it be like this: Using 3 cores is showing that the overhead work (managing multiple threads) is so much increased that overall performance drops? An example using my noobish mind: If there are several waiters serving meals to customers: One does a good job but slow. Two are doing a better job. Three are hindering themselves in the narrow door to the kitchen. Four are able to overcome this hindrance for they are so many ... ;-) -
Bad news again for Intel, good news for gamers: After (!) Intel was punished by Asian and European governmental authorities for illegal distribution practises and had to accept to pay 1 Billion Euros to the EU and about 1 Billion Dollars to AMD, now (!) the US government goes on Intel http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2009/12/intel.shtm Quote: "(....) Intel’s anticompetitive tactics were designed to put the brakes on superior competitive products that threatened its monopoly in the CPU microchip market. (...)" Remember: This is not just an abstract behaviour hurting AMD. Intel tried illegal things not for nothing but to hold high prices up - that's bad for us customers. In Germany they tried illegaly to keep AMD cpus "out of your sight" - to hinder you from free chosing. My personal view based on the EU verdict.

A.C.E.2 Public Beta Servers
Herbal Influence replied to Blechreiz's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Nope. Experienced blackhawk pilot said on this forum that flying a chopper in Arma2 without 3rd is unrealistic. (My opinion is: lack of environmental awareness is so much in egoshootermode instead of 3rd view that the possibility to watch over a wall/around corner can be neglected if you aren't just a doom shooter or doing corridor games all the time. But as this is OT here further discussion on this should take place here.) -
ARMA II Beta Builds Released: Latest version/build: 1.04.6xxxx
Herbal Influence replied to mattxr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Great Job! Just did a few hours having good AI teamwork and no probs. Only one problem remaining is that vehicles, especially tanks are driving like skating on ice - just now I did compare it with the new 1.18 final patch on Armed Assault. The glitchy driving issue only happens (since release of game) only in Arma2 to me ... -
Sorry, I can't take this for serious. The threadtitle made me click here ... and I was stunned: Can olro be serious about this? My point of view is: This is by far not even the standard Armed Assault had a few years ago. And I really don't like this map all over with strong coloured markers ... how can this be called "like a warfilm" ????? Ok ... I do indeed also hate the "cadet mode rhombusses" on the heads of soldiers in Arma2 or "crosshair". But I never use them ... but I am left speechless: This what is shown in the videos can't by far (!!!) not be compared to Arma2 or to a film of war.

Time for Bis to allow language change to English - agree?
Herbal Influence replied to Richey79's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Not my point of view. How about your feelings if I tell you that your english isn't good enough for a non-german version? ;-) If I would be a dev of BI I would feel personally insulted by your utterings though I - scroll up - indeed did vote for an english version too. BIS is continiously supporting and (!) improving Arma2. No need to bash them as "7yrs ol' ones". We paid only for a rather rough first version that's true but time has gone by and BIS has been working like hell on it. Completely without any payment from your side. Since months. You could not afford to pay a five hours and what you have paid to them ... is enough for about a two minutes financing BIS. My rough estimation ... -
Patch 1.05 "Announced". Includes AH-64
Herbal Influence replied to roberthammer's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Do a game of chess in the meantime then. If you compare OFPDR with Arma2 a comparison with an analog chess game does it also. Fraps are great in the analogue-world ... just another bad window. -
Patch 1.05 "Announced". Includes AH-64
Herbal Influence replied to roberthammer's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
If it would be possible to implement a big performance boost, BIS sure wouldn't wait until Christmas or Patch 1.05 with it. It's simply a complex game. It's much more complex than the one you compare it with. There is nothing like "bad coding" and a needed "optimization". At last not in the amount many expect. Arma2 is hardware hungry. Not for nothing. For good reasons. If you think otherwise and have good technical hints, please comment here. -

Maybe somebody, not BIS surely, using the same server for the download of ACE2, ACEX etc. ... sure just a timely coincidence ... ;-)) -

Nice! Congrats! And congrats to us, the BIS-games-community being so eagerly bemuttered by BIS. Releasing Beta-patches is a big (and risky) work for BIS that I appreciate very much. Performance and abilities of the game increasing a lot close to nearly every day. -

Great Patch! Thanx BIS ! Even works wonderfully with ACE. I appreciated the extra work and risk of releasing Beta-Patches very much! But people soon get accustomed to each and every extra work of your side and cry "We payed for it !! Do it !! I am hanging in a tree after parachuting!! BUG BUG !!" without considering how immensely complex this game is and that you - with every BETA-patch - also deliberately risk to implement new bugs and being bashed by those with a consumer-attitude. Biggest "fun": Some cogamers are bashing ACE-Modders with this velvet-seat-sticking-consumer-attitude also!! LOL -

LOL ... nice idea ... like that one with the hook-and-loop-fastener (Velcro, in German: Klettverschluss). -
I indeed used to answer SMS/Emails during driving - meaning each time that this is cool and I was somehow proud that I could handle that. You know, "men are able to communicate quite abbreviated" , like sending just an "!" instead of "Hi xy! Yes, thank you. That's quite ok for me. I will act as proposed by you. We'll meet exactly where you wanted us to and at that very certain time. How did you know that's this is the place and time I would really appreciate to see you? Thank you, see you then, bye, bye ..., yours sincerely ... etc. pp." But lately I read in a newspaper that a nice young girl of 18 yrs happened to get worstly wounded in an accident she caused by answering an SMS. She was close to dying. And I began to think about my children watching me doing that fucking shit ... and learning this from me. You never learn better than by just watching and imitating. Much better than by being told something ... Why would I never write an SMS while driving during a game of BIS but did do that in real life? Strange shit.

Don't remember him of sleep, he might fall to the floor, stoned ... ;-) Thanx for the mod, guys! Installation was a "great experience" .... ;-) First bugs though: - (My) player name didn't show up on map whereas others were shown. - The dialog showing that your version is newer than that used on the dedi-server is quite annoying. Especially the "ding", "ding", "ding" - tone ... -
In Germany it's strictly forbidden - I know of a few fellows who paid about a 40 € for this. Nevertheless I am quite astonished by people driving expensive limousines but not having the few Euros for buying a free-hand-phoning thingie .... It makes phoning quite comfortable by the way ...
