Just enjoy the other side of it all ... EVERYTHING can easily be set louder, with more bass, more bombastic, more effects ... etc. But I don't want BIS games to become a Crysis or more arcadish but more realistic. Bob Dylan and me deny the loudness war. ;-) Like Maruk CEO of BIS explains here. Bob Dylans opinion you find in here.. And don't you lose your humour ... after you lost your hearing aids. ;-)) -

Here - a far less ambitious rig runs perfectly smooth ... so what. Maybe it's the guilty conscience that hinders Intels to perform how they could. ;-) -

That's what I call bashing without knowing ANY facts. Simply maintaining game isn't optimized and ignoring the fact that it is simply immensely complex. Especially: More complex than any game you compare it with. I had some loudspeakers (or bashers) calmed down here. The thread was started because some people maintained that a proof of BISs "poor-optimizing" would be using too few threads. No need to explain how those ended. Must be hard for BIS to be bashed by cogamers who simply ignore the immense complexity of the game and in the next second ask for more fraps. :( As of lately I read some cpu-tests who showed that MINIMAL fraps drop when using MORE cores. EDIT: Perhaps it's simply not easy to understand what is meant by "simply immensely" complex. ;-) -
Just upgraded my client to 1.05. Runs perfectly smooth. The Apache looks great! AIs fast as weasels ... ! ;-) Thanx again BIS!

Oh, sure I do. When I feel like that. From time to time I do. And you can go on with your "like a film of war" and calling Arma2 "a half-made-game" and calling it as "complex like scissor-stone-paper game". I will throw in some extreme herbals mixture to get through to your visionary world :eek:

So it is no RTS ?? I learned by one of the CMSF-fans here in this thread IT IS ... and say ArmA lacks complexity, is like paper-rock-scissors ... wow, strong words. I will give it a try. I like complex games. EDIT: No, I won't. As I said I don't even like the green rhombusses on the soldiers in Arma2 and it's so much worse in CMSF as I have seen here. And by the way, pc-gamer also stated that it is "ein realistisches und im Großen und Ganzen gelungenes Spiel für (unerfahrene) Strategieliebhaber." (translation: a realistic and all in all well done game for (unexperienced) strategylovers." And I think BIS games require much more than an unexperienced strategylover. And, @Second, you really must not explain things to me if it's so hard for you. If you are into such complex games it must be very annoying to you, to explain things to people who are only into paper-rock-scissor-BI games.

I just learned that I love to enjoy BI games as a Real Time Strategy game (RTS) and less often as FPS. This means that I tend to delegate soldiers/tanks round a house corner or up a hill instead of running / shooting myself. This is much easier, when you have a kind of "overview". This might explain why I am quite annoyed when 3rd view is switched off by the server. But it remains that egoshooterview erases big parts of natural environmental awareness for the tunnel view it creates. -
Ok. I understand that it may be fascinating to you. And thanx again for that I finally found the right term of the way I like to enjoy BIS games mostly: As a real time strategy game. Seriously. I got aware more and more that shoot & run is annoying me considering the amount of big vehicles and men you can use. It explains to a big amount why I am 3rd-view addicted as you can see here. RTS it is absurd to play an RTS with egoshooterviewmode. Something creeps up my mind .... weren't there RTS modes for OFP in 2001/2003 that were expressively called RTS? But - I dunno how deep you are in BIS games - be assured that I have had a lot of hours lasting strategic exciting situations in mfcti/crcti, especially with BWMOD too. Sure there was a kind of High Command in vanilla OFP - good to begin with - too: You could dirigate at least your own 11 units. But with mfcti (2002?) I was able to steer 15 x 12 Units? At least 7 x 12 ... dunno. With High Command I can steer my units to a degree that leaves no wishes: Go to xy, do that (watch that direction, scan horizon, reammo, heal, lay down, heal others, open/close windows/doors, get up/down that ladder, etc. etc.) Needles to say that you can do much more with scripting like changing the speed of moves etc. I am sincerely lacking imagination what I do need more than that I can do in Arma2 to have a good Real Strategy Game. The graphics are worse than in BIS games. Sure the physics are worse too - but I can't be sure about that. All I have is the video.

Though many conflicts have deliberately been based on religious reasons ... atheism I fear is nothing less brutal ... think about Stalins victims ... should be millions and Mao Tse Tung ... many, many victims. Both declared atheists. But it is more perverse to kill in the name of god than for simple interests. I think that remains a fact. So lez all get atheists for that our killing doesn't look that perverse ... ?

I play BIS games mostly as RTS. As commander in warfares or ctis .... or other High-Command-missions .... (Indeed this is one aspect I only now realized - thank you for that. I mean that it's a kind of RTS (real time strategy - mode) that's also enclosed in all BI games .... ) I didn't compare it to FPS - qualities of Arma2 at all. So don't be that harsh to me if you aren't able to understand that. You simply forgot to refer to the misleading threadtitle, did you?

@St. Pilot: You might be right - in general. But as my post showed in just one example - and, again, it's just one example from the Quoran and there might be similiar quotes possible from Bible and Tora, - religion enforces hatred (at least: alienation) between men. "Imagine there's no heaven, above us only sky ..." But atheists are always weaker than religious folks. For their lack of fanatism/fundamentalism. There are no suicide-atheists-bombers ... so "peace in the world" and the atheists always lose. In fact it seems to me the atheists are the only who indeed worship the given world and not destroying it by dreaming of the next one. But then what about the environmental catastrophy the former East German goverment left behind? Seems in Russia there are also many places contaminated ... like Chernobyl?

It shows that you really not into it, sorry. One thing you gotta understand that BIS games are immensely open and in that kind unique. This openess can only be achieved by accepting a broad variety of "bugs". Open games are consequently also open to "bugs". "Bugs" are not really bugs in most cases ... they are just "open ends" because the game is immensely complex and - cannot by principle - foresee everything which is possible in it. Even the developers themselves cannot execute every possible situation in it. There are people crying "bug!" because they are hanging with a parachute in a tree and can't get out. Sorry, the DEVs didn't check that very tree out of a thousands of trees. But thanks to the fact that situations in BIS can vary to that amount that you can't foresee (or test!) out everything. Go, do some "closed games" or Arcade shooters ... if you find bugs there, you really can take them for serious and blame the devs, because THEY HAD A CHANCE to erase all bugs. BIS simply don't have. And I like them and their games for this.:bounce3: -

This brought me to the thought: Wow ! BIS does not only simulate a navigation system here (300 Euro) but also a complete steering of a vehicle at the same time (3000 Euro just for electronic hardware)! :) -
