  1. I couldn't believe the announcement when I read it! When I posted the news on a website I help with, I couldn't avoid a little editorializing (and I rarely do that with a news release). In summary, my take: Mind you, I am only a casual ArmA player (I mostly like to tinker with the editor :)) and I feel this way! What CM did with DR was almost fraud in my opinion.
  2. I have a question: whenever I run Arma 2 with the ACE mod, I get the following in-game message: Outdated: userconfig\ACE\Ace_Clientside_config.hpp, Ace_keys.hpp I routinely use the Six Updater GUI, but while it will occasionally report updating certain files, I still get this message. What am I missing? Thanks!

Nice work, Richie! Does A2 have frustrating bugs/ performance issues? Yes. But I also think it will age like a fine wine while OFP2 will be a flash in the pan. I haven't played it in a week or so while I eagerly await the next patch. But today my nephew was over and wanted to see the game. So I booted it up and started a scratch "combat" scenario...and was having a blast. I love that part of the game (I hope someday that it will also be able to create quick armor and aircraft-based missions, too.) Point is: problems? Yes. But a ton of good things, too!
  4. Yeah, same frustration here. Maybe this is an issue that is awaiting a patch?
  5. I have the same question here. The only way I can find is to hit Esc. The only problem with that is I don't think your waypoint edits stick when you hit Esc. For example, I notice that if I change a waypoint to "seek and destroy", it remains as a "move" waypoint on the map if I Esc out. Is Esc the right way get out of the edit waypoint dialogue, or is there another way? Thanks in advance.
  6. The demo is coming out tomorrow.
  7. I've never played the original OpF, or ArmA I (and I'm awaiting ArmA II to unlock on Steam :)), so take this comparison with a grain of salt. But based upon the videos I have seen of ArmA II and DR, ArmA II seems much more focused upon working with your squad mates. In the E3 demo videos of DR, the gameplay reminded me of CoD in that the player seems to take the 'heroic lead' with his AI cohorts just providing some basic support. In the ArmA II videos I've seen, it seems as if there is no 'heroic lead' but just the player and his AI cohorts working closely together at all times.

    Red dawn.

Will you be converting it over to A2?
  9. Just found this Valve note posted on Steam's Arma forum: Not quite sure what this means. Does this mean that Arma II cannot be launched using the Steam client?

    Red dawn.

Don't judge a movie by its trailer...especially an '80s trailer. :) Trust us: rent it. You won't be disappointed.

    Red dawn.

Such a campaign would be at the top of my list. Red Dawn is one of my favorite movies. :) Best of luck with the project! (I shudder to think what the RD remake will be like. :icon_rolleyes:)
  12. Great story! But it's also an awful story because of the believable deaths...and the fact that it reminds me that I STILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL FRIDAY FOR MY CHANCE AT THE GAME! :D In the mean time, looking forward to reading more AARs!
