I personally think they should just reduce acceleration for sprinting. Maybe make it take a couple of seconds to get up to full speed when sprinting would make it feel more realistic (Especially when carrying a heavy load). At the moment the character just instantly "shoots" to full speed when he starts sprinting (that's what it feels like). I dont have a problem with being able to move fast and smoothly, its just that at the moment there is no inertia or weight to the movements. GTA 4 had a very nice movement system IMO. When sprinting you took time to stop and get going, and you could only turn slowly when running fast.

ArmA II / OA Installation problems

Hi I have the steam version of operation arrowhead and am reinstalling my retail CD of arma 2 to have combined ops. Is there is anywhere i can download arma 2 (can only find "arma 2 free" to download on google search) since my cd drive is broken, and I also don't know which arma 2 patches i need to install to get CO working. Thanks in advance. -
I know quite a few people, and my self, have problems firing from the prone while lying in even short grass. A large part of the problem seems to me that instead of raising the weapon when you right click, your sight actually lowers down to the weapon. Now Im guessing this may be an engine limitation or something, but i would personally suggest having the weapon raised to a higher position when prone so seeing over the grass is easier. This has really been bugging me lately.

I have to say that the fps drop i get whenever i zoom in on trees and bushes is really annoying. Even on low settings, i get a big drop. I have a 1gb video card, 3.0 ghz quad core, and 4 gig ram and it still is borderline unplayable with trees, bushes and grass around. My fps though is alright when NOT zoomed in onto trees. My suggestion would be to completely get rid of the high detailed trees/bushes when on low settings, so they never load even when zoomed on.

Hi, I have the steam version of arrowhead and the retail version of arma 2. I cant figure out how to run ace with combined operations since you need steam for OA. Running combined operations works fine when launced from steam, how could i get it to run ace as well? -
Incoming tracer fire cannot be seen, why?

This has also bugged me. It would be a nice feature if it was properly implemented if you ask me, but when you turn your head you can suddenly see incoming tracers. I think that BIS should just remove this feature. It would make it interesting to see incoming rounds in firefights, especially large calibre (30mm) rounds. EDIT: Here is another vid DTjg-l-Ldxs -
Add Simple Sound Effects

Good ideas. I've always though some of the sound mods i've got add more to the game than the graphics. At least for the immersion. Also having AI yell things like contact and cease fire, without using the radio would add to the experience. Most of the time it just feels like their robots, by the lack of sound they sometimes make. Most war footage i've seen has people yelling their heads off. -

Hi, whenever I jump into a mission, some yellow text comes up and informes me that my userconfig clientside is out dated. I've updated everything with the six updater. When i go to userconfig there are 2 folders: One says just ACE, and the other says ACE_1260416404. Do i need to delete one? -
Im afraid arma 2 fails at the moment when it comes to pvp. Very disappointing.

Yeah it would be nice to have a proper locking system. Its kind of unfair to press tab 8 times and take out 8 t-72's. -
There seems to be a problem with machine gun fire on my 5.1 system. When someone is fireing full auto and they are in front of me, it sounds correct. But when they are behind me it sounds like they are firing on semi automatic (But at a fast pace) Anyone else got this?

Yes I think Im on the latest beta. It only happens at long range though. I switched over to stereo headphones and you couldn't even really hear it firing. -

Incoming tracers do not show. Turning the camera to the left or right and they appear. Aiming your rifle at an enemy will result in not seeing their tracers. It only seems to happen with the ones coming directly at you. -

Quick question, When asked to put the .7z based files in the update foler, do you extract them first or just move them to the folder? -
Truly classic game. I can't think of any others that have come close, except for maby the original ghost recon. Hopefully Ground Branch will bring some of that ole' good stuff back.

I dont remember autorotaion from OFP:confused: Anyways what game looks better is a matter of opinion in my opinion :p I've got arma2 and its good, but I've given up on multiplayer for the time being. From what I can see DR will be a compromise when it comes to realism, but be more "accessible" which is a word Im starting to hate more and more reading some of the interviews. Hopefully It will be on the same level as the original Ghost Recon games and Rainbow 6. Hopefully... -

OFP: DR has auto-rotation heli landings. Arma 2 has AA that never misses. -

-Fire control would be nice. Don't know how hard it would be to put in though for the MBT's -Working flashlights and lasers for Inf weapons. -Working and usable backup sights for ACOG,G36 red dot, Steyr Iron sights etc... - Better bullet impact effects. More noise when taking fire inside vehcles. If rounds are landing infront of your face your eyes should squint as their is secondary shrapnel flying about. - Proper mil dots for magnified scopes. - Proper aiming system for hellfire missiles, atgm;'s etc... -
Agreed with the poster above. Anyway, last time I checked , the arty system in arma 2 is nothing special. Im still hopeful that it will be a good game, even though my expectations have only slid down since I saw the trailer for it in 07.
