On an objective note, the Demo is good and fun and this game have a lot of potential but the main issue for me is the Performance. I am no expert but I just feel like its not well optimised. I have a good PC and can't get this game to have average 40+ FPS with good video quality. I usually get 35 average FPS according to the Benchmark with "high" setting" and it just isn't good for me. Maybe if it would never drop below 30 FPS it would be ok but it does randomly drop below 30 and get saccady and not smooth. I just hate laggy games and I'm not gonna spend 500$ to upgrade my PC for this game in the hope to gain a few FPS. Plus, some graphics effects in this game are just odd. I actually prefer playing older games with maxed out video options and good FPS (40-50+) than this one with "Normal/high" setting and 35 average fps and random FPS drops. By the time I can get a PC powerful enough to run this game with 40-50 FPS + and maxed out video setting Arma 3 will probably be out and will have same performance problems :P

is there a way to extand the grass draw distance?

No matter the game, grass distance always is a problem. There is no miracle solution for it. There got to be a draw distance limit unfortunenately. -
Hello, I am having a lot of fun with the demo until the boxe release in North America but beside the fact Arma 2 require huge power, the one thing that annoy me the most is the texture not rendering at good quality at medium/long range. Up close the game look awesome but as soon as I get a little far from a vehicle, building or even bushes, we can see the texture lowering its quality a lot. I am wondering if there is any way we can improve the distance at wich the texture are rendered at higher quality with video options. Thanks.

Project Reality public community still use a lot more communications and tactics than the public Arma community according to what I see on most multiplayer servers. People just play it as any arcadish game. The game do can enforce some teamwork with great unit organisation, communications, tutorial, etc. Leaving players to themselves will obviously result in mass lonewolves playing like COD. Don't get me wrong, I am sure organised (clan) matches are very nice but I am talking about public play.

Huge frame rate drops when looking THAT way

So far the only time my FPS drop is when I am looking at the ocean since there seems to be no option to reduce the water quality. -
I've only been playing the Demo so far but heres my opinion. Graphics: -Improve performance if possible or add more video option so we can improve it ourselves :) -Improve muzzle flash especially in the dark. -Do star really look that ugly at night with night vision ? IA -Improve their driving skill please. I had Armor roll over and kill friendly troops in the High command training or AI pilot not supporting infantry at all bad positionning their helicopter so door gunner could not shoot... Thats all I can see so far really, the game is great overall just need some polishing and optimisation I think.

Yeah night muzzle flash really are horrible. Quite odd with such an overall great looking game. -
I've been playing the demo a lot so far and its a great game but group commands are hard to use fast during battles and being new to arma I am still trying to figure out what the multiplayer is like. So far, we've been trying "custom" mission in wich we added AI units but after a while it gets somewhat repetitive. What does the multiplayer humans vs humans looks like on real game servers with the real game ? What are the Humans vs Humans game mode like ? How does it feel ? How does the community plays ? Is there a lot of clan vs clan (unit) ? So far, on the DEMO multiplayer servers most people dont communicate and dont play as a team... Obviously, there seems to be a lot of COOP online but to me humans vs humans is much better and such games should focus on that, not humans vs AI. AI is fun for a while but rapidly get boring. Popular online games that last for a long time usually are games with good Humans vs Humans competition such as Battlefield 2: PROJECT REALITY, etc. How does the team organisation works with humans vs humans battles ? So far I've only been able to control 6 or 8 units online in the demo. The infantry vs infantry gameplay is nice. Oh and I taught I would prefer first person view as a PR fan but the 3rd person view really is better at everything... Looking overwall, larger view of the field, better aiming at long range... Kinda odd but its great to see our character animations. Please, someone answer my questions. Thanks. Oh and can someone tell me how the "dead valley" mode plays out online usually ? Isn't it chaotic having every player buy his own little army... ? Is there anyway to set our voice quality in-game ? There seems to be no option for that.

Well I am in the big battle mission from the demo, I am actually a passenger in a LAV-25 but cant seem to take control of it.

Hey, anyway we can drive or gun armor in the demo ? When I see one, there seems to be no option to drive it.

Oh and I am wondering, are all those Demo server online hosted on peoples PC wich would explain connections problems (LAG, I'm saying LAG, not ram!), will real game servers have good performance and end the LAG ?

I've had Armor roll over several infantry in the High Command training :P lol Its hard to find wich video setting give the best performance/graphics but I noticed my Quad core CPU Q9550 @ 2.8ghz is using 40-50% in-game but can go up to 85% when in the menu lol (because of the background I guess). I am just curious why did the game doesnt take like 80% of the CPU in-game so it give better performance instead of taking only 40-50% and ramming with very high setting ? Oh and as infantry, performance are good on "high" but whenever I look at water (ocean) or fly, it get bad! Beside these performance problems, its a great game but very hard and I'm having lot of fun at infantry fight with friends. Sometime it can be somewhat confusing to find out what we must do to complete a mission because if we miss the objective, we cannot see it again. Atleast I did not found how to see it again so far. The possibility to salute, sit, aim down, etc. is very fun online :)

I've been testing it out more online with clan members, its a lot better online then in solo. But the AI is very strong :P (New to Arma universe)

Hello, I would like to know how to modify the Arma 2 key configuration. I did tried but when I press "W" for example, it set it to "Z"... Oh and I saw so many video with 3rd person view and I just can't find what the key is to have a 3rd person view. Can someone tell me ? Thanks

I installed the demo a few hours ago already, I've been testing it a little. So far its a good demo. As long as you have a very powerful PC and know how to play Arma. I have a powerful pc and still, I must set it to "normal" to have good performance (35 fps average). Plus, controls are very hard to use as a beginner. I'll give it more time.

Hello, I am new to the Arma universe but being a fan of BF2: Project reality wich is a hardcore realistic modification of Battlefield 2 ( http://www.realitymod.com ) I am very interested in this game and I'm waiting for the north american release to buy it. But I have some questions and there is two of them. How long last the single player campaign ? Once we completed the campaign, can we do it again as a Russian ?

I also hope Arma 2 multiplayer is at least as good as PR. Most PR players plays as a team, use communications and tactics. Thats what I am looking for on arma 2 mp.
