    Patch 1.04 suggestions

    1. Fix the campaign. 2. More performance improvements. 3. AI road driving skill is still pretty dodgy, can be good at times but normally it is quite bad. 4. Misc bugs.

    Patience is a virtue

Have to agree the game sure did not come out perfect, far from it for some users though I am still confident that given time BIS will fix the majority of bugs etc. So for now enjoy the game, if not then am sure you can find other stuff in this world for you to enjoy till BIS fix the problems.
  4. Lol thats a good way to put it :) Hopefully BIS do get the bugs and performance issues which some users are affected by sorted out, oh fixing the campaign so I could finish it would make me soo happy  Oh and if you miss 1.02 soo much then go back to it, its not hard and even easier if you have backed up your 1.02 install as Planck says. Off topic: Am sure you have heard this before Richiespeed but your videos are amazing, got that great Black Hawk Down one saved on my PsP. Oh and the 1500 AI one was what got me to decide on ARMA2 over Dragon Rising :)
  5. So just destroy the Chedaki HQ and you can finish the mission?
  6. Very nicely put Tore, ARMA2 while buggy is still an amazing game. Am just trying to decide which I like more Empire Total war or ARMA2 :D I think ARMA2 will win since its something I will play for ages, also am confident the bugs will get stamped out by BIS given time :bounce3:

    Dogs of War bug

Yeah I had that problem back in 1.01 and 1.02, a few secs after you start the mission you get notified that the alliance between BLUFOR and NAPA has ended. You and your squad are classed as BLUFOR so as soon as that happens your squad fires on the NAPA troops and then of course all of you get wasted by NAPA. Haven't had the problem since 1.03 though... Best way to play this mission is to play through the editor, I had none of the script bugs from the campign when I did that. Definately not the ideal solution but if like me and you do enjoy the missions when they work then I would use the editor.

    Dogs of War bug

Could be another script bug.... will load my save and see what happens for me. Will report back here as soon as I can. Yeah I sometimes wander why I bother when I was enjoying the editor and MP soo much but for w/e reason I desperately try to complete the campaign, lol :bounce3: *EDIT* Ffs old 1.02 save for Dogs of war in the editor fails to load with 1.03 now... sorry won't be able to test out that bit myself unless I restart the mission which honestly am not too excited about doing... If I do go through the mission again i'll be sure to say here but frankly am guessing its still a script bug...

    Dogs of War bug

Yeah thats the part I got to in the editor, I think you maybe go back to the CDF base but am really not sure. Btw did your game get all screwed up when the scene happens when you walk towards the Russian officer with Lopotev etc? Mine got massive lag, freezes a while and then starts again but if it was fine for you then it was likely just my crappy PC. I really need a new cpu :(

    Dogs of War bug

After the briefing neither of the other two says anything to me, quite annoying I was really looking forward to playing through the mission properly and finishing it... Does anyone know if the parts after this work fine? Am not going to try any work arounds if the rest of the mission is bugged as well.

    Dogs of War bug

Was really hoping this would not be the case but.... It seems some of the scripts still don't work right, I restarted the mission and I got the full conversation from the CO etc and my squad was able to move (YAY) but whenever I go to see LT Marny nothing happens. I don't get the conversation about taking Chernogorsk and bringing the USMC back into the fight. Sometimes the task appears to take the city but most times it does not. Luckily I found a backup I made for the save I had on this mission while playing it through the editor so I guess I will have to use that... Will try again later but if the script is still broken then am very disappointed, thats the only major gripe I have about the game. I can't finish the damn campaign... :( Patch 1.03 did fix a few bugs i've noticed both in this mission and in other areas, I also seem to get a FPS improvement of about 2-3 frames per sec now which I suppose is nice. Overall I still love the game despite the bugs which to me are acceptable EXCEPT for the ones that stop me from doing the campaign. BIS really should have got that fixed by now. Otherwise still the best military sim I have bought since operation flashpoint.

    1.03 Performance

While playing in the campaign mode I noticed a small FPS improvement, small but I did notice it was a bit smoother.

    Dogs of War bug

Hmm I think the investigate marker stays there whatever you do, it did for me but when you get back to HQ Lopotev should board a waiting truck and you should recieve a message from command about a deal with the Russians. If the mission still ain't fixed them am going to be pissed off cause I just started it again 30 mins ago thinking it would be fixed now in campaign mode And lol yeah I was thinking the same thing about Lopotev looking like he was the Co-pilot in the chopper :)
  14. Yeah those are your sides supply trucks. Oh and supply and salvage trucks do respawn as long as you have a deployed HQ.

    Dogs of War bug

Hmm that happened to me the first time I caught Lopotev, I luckily had a save just after I had killed his soldiers etc. So I loaded that went over and got him and then the CO talks about the heli etc. After a min or two I start to hear a helicopter so I started going south east I believe. (towards the bottom right of the island) After walking that direction briefly I could see the helicopter landing and then you automatically appear inside the helicopter with Lopotev and your squad. So try to load a save and then see if the helicopter arrives, I was hoping that was just a problem I had while playing the mission in the editor... Good luck :)

    Dogs of War bug

Ahh good to hear it works now, I gave up trying to do it in campaign mode and played it in the editor which still wasn't great. Hopefully I can finish the great campaign in the game now :) When your at the main flag in Chernogorsk it seems to attract all the OPFOR forces near you and if they are close then you can not capture the flag. Check the streats etc near the flag for hostiles and take them out. Watch out for those pesky technicals with MG's etc

    Alt-f4 . . . :(

Lol yes I have done that soo many times :( I remember one day I must have done it like 4-5 times during a 2 hour period, by the 3rd time I was getting rather pissed off :D

    Worth an upgrade?

Well if you do upgrade I would get a quad core but then again you could spend the money on something else. It should raise the FPS a bit with missions with many npc's but I don't know if it would be worth the money. I play with texture and vid memory on high, shadowns, terrain and object detail on medium with AA off and AF at low. Post processing is at low and with a res of 1440x900, I get around 20FPS in campaign missions, 30FPS in missions I made in the editor (well except the ones with mass npc amounts) and on Utes with few npc's it is about 30-40FPS as well. Here btw have a look at this http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html Me and a friend use it and it improved ARMA2 a bit for me and he told me that it made a massive improvement in playing Crysis with video settings at max, he thinks it is because it frees up memory etc that Vista is wasting. Its free and simple to use so you may want to try it and see if it does a lot.
  19. Ahh sorry meant to say T-72, yeah I too noticed the M1A2 can destroy a T-90 with one hit from any angle it seems. It takes like 2-3 shots from a T-90 to destroy a M1A2, the exact amoung am guessing may be due to where the shot hits.
  20. Titan127

    Worth an upgrade?

The game seems quite cpu intensive so I would be more inclined to the quad core but am not very sure about ATI cards but I believe the one you have is quite good so if that is the case then yes get a quad core. Remember to make sure your Mobo is compatible etc. Am hopefully getting a quad core after the summer to replace my well frankly crap dual core which I struggled with so I could play ARMA2 with decent FPS...

Simple Question - Dogs of War

When i got to this mission I had all types of trouble on it, non-responsive AI, script bugs etc. Could not do the mission until I learnt that playing through the editor solves these problems. I went through all that and got it working in the editor were everything was great, actually enjoyed the mission then lol. I believe their are some work arounds for certain problems but my best advice is either try it in the editor or leave the campaign till a patch fixes it.
  22. Fair enough, I was under the believe that the T-90 was a brand new modern Russian tank made to be a match for the M1A2 etc. But still the T-90 seems rather underpowered as some meantioned he tried 1 M1A2 vs 12 T-90's and the Abrams managed to destroy 7 T-90's before getting destroyed itself. Now that can't be right, 12 T-90's should be able to beat the Abrams with less than 7 losses, the T-72 should be able to beat it with less losses imo...

    grapics card problem

Yeah you haven't a hope running it with that unless you enjoy slideshows, I barely scrape by with a ok... performance with my crappy AMD dual core 2.4Ghz and 9800GT with 3GB 800Mhz RAM.

    The unkillable T-90

I tried attacking a T-90 with the javelin and it seems that 264m is the minimal range for destroying the tank. 200-263m causes severe damage and closer than 100m does nothing... Did not try anything between 100-200m
  25. Whoops sorry but made mistake, it was 100m i was firing the javelin from. I was trying the M136 at 150m actually, was trying all the US launchers today at different ranges. Will go on quick and try the javelin at 250m. -Edit- Ok fired the javelin at 250m, tank was severly damaged but still drivable. Tried a few other ranges and have concluded with 264m being the minimal range needed to destroy the T-90 with a javelin. Oh and that anything closer than 100m does nothing at all against the tank.
