  1. In all honesty, it really doesn't make sense to me. BI is pretty much the only game in town for large scale realistic warfare from the infantry perspective. If they start making civ sims....will we have to settle for the Codemaster'ed OFP?

  2. I am looking for a squad that teams alot, uses real tactics, but doesn't make you feel like joining their squad is a chore(read must be the perfect soldier to join). Ranks are great but let's remember this is a game, but a serious game that demands respect and following orders. Having said that, I love following someone who knows what they are doing but also helping those who need a leg up. Using real tactics/techniques is great. Basically, I want to feel part of a team, not Rambo who can do whatever he wants. Give me a goal, and I'll do my best to complete the objective.

1 last thing, though not required, I think microphone use add tremendously to the "soldier" atmosphere and also allows for much quicker commands without the need to waste time typing.

  3. Ok, here's a fix if you don't want to play the whole mission again. If you wanted to kill Prizak, just extract DOW-B preview into the editor, save the game, take that save game and put it into the campaign save folder, and you can now play the DOW mission you want. You might want to use the end mission cheat so the campaign will show that DOW is available in the campaign screen first.

  4. Well put Jakerod, only in this case, I am trying to avoid alot of the bugs in the DOW mission. I found a work around though. You can take the save game you made and play it in the camapign by moving the save game file into the same folder where the campaign saves it's game. I assume it would work the same way if it were a normal single player mission(especially one that you are creating) where you move the save game made while previewing in the editor and move it to where the game saves a normal, single player mission save file.

  5. It seams that we are able to load up a mission(campaign mission...DOW) in the editor, play it, and create saves BUT when you load that mission again in the editor, you saves are gone. Is there anyway to load a saved game into the editor? It's weird because it seams that if you save a game while playing in the editor, exit back from the mission into the editor, there is a continue button to continue playing BUT if you completely exit the editor, you cannot load that saved game back again in the editor. THis is a pain since alot of missions seam to work much better when played in the editor.

  6. OK, I am playing DOW "B" since aparantly I was unable to kill Priznak in the previous mission. Anyway, I am now playing DOW in the editor and was wondering, should I let the cpu control the command- are they smart enough not to get our side killed? Also, since I am still aparently NAPA, and the NAPA BLUFOR alliance ends at the begining of the mission, anyway I can make my Razor squad not appear red to me? THNX

  7. If you use this cheat, will it take you to the same next mission as if you completed it for real? I ask because it seams the campign plays out just fine in the editor so I was trying to figure out what the mission after dogs of war is since in the extracted pbo, there are alot of mission "7"'s. THNX

  8. I took the 1st two towns(after I built my hq) and it just seams like there is wave after wave of enemy coming at me and I can't really teleport back to hq to get more guys because the fast travel spot in the second town is in a really bad position(lots of enemys around)...anyway to order units remotely? Does the enemy eventual run out of people? If not, how in the world do you defend your towns without maxing out the 16 man limit? THNx

  9. You probably mean the NAPA escort. Try the trunk.

Jezuro, I really admire what you guys are trying to do here but can you seriously tell me you tested the "Delaying the Bear" mission and Badlands where AT THE BEGINNING of the mission, your squad CANNOT move. This is not a flame this is a fact. I actually don't blame the mission designer since when played in the editor, its seams fine. I blame whatever beta tester/dev played through the campaign and did not catch or just didn't care about these glaring bugs.

I know you have deadlines and such but to completely avoid these issues until a patch is released and then say "Oh yeah, we were aware of these bugs and now there fixed" is bad business. Just admit that you made a mistake. People are quite forgiving but when you cherry pick easy problems to solve(the truck...) and ignore huge game stopping ones is horrible.

Having said that: you guys designed a wonderful unique game that has insane potential. All these scripts that produce random results is amazing. The graphics are awesome. Immersion is off the hook(when not derailed by bugs). Right now, the campaign is darn near unplayable beginning to end if you don't find workarounds online.

I do love the game but please don't treat us like whiners. I have not seen 1 comments about these campain bugs from a dev. Just a little accountability. You guys lost alot of people with the mess that was ARMA's release. This game is a potential GOTY but to get there, people have to get immersed, which is impossible if you have squad mates with lead boots.

  10. Can anyone tell me if they've managed to command RAzor Team after Manhattan. When i choosed to play with NAPA, I tried to get them to board the trucks but none of the team members would follow my orders. I've tried to replaythe mission, but still when it gets to this point, they won't budge anymore. They just acknowlegde and that's it, a quick nod of the head and that is it! I mean what da! |I tried leaving them behind to carry on with the mission, but didn't get too far, and i'm not meant to do it alone anyway.

    Please help.

This is the "delaying the bear mission". You get it when you choose the napa forces in "bitter chill" It's a common bug. Honestly, since you reach badlands anyway, if you want to play the mission(and advance the story), just open it in the editor. Works fine. Then, in your campaign, just do the end mission cheat. Since delaying the bear is a napa only mission, there are no choices(I think) that you have to worry about..

  11. SSG wright, do you remember the title of your last mission? I ask because it seams in the 7th stage there are missions that simply give you a cool sendoff and also missions that have to fighting to take that huge southern city(electra....) Also, anyone else, what are the names of the last missions you fought and what choices did you make(help the father, choose napa or cdf...etc). Thanks I will all this was not necessary but the friggin campaign reader in arma is buggy so I have to play them in the editor.

  12. Dude, this editor is massive. A good campaign designer can make truly awesome missions, multiple outcomes, meaningful choices. Since I basically skipped ARMA, was there ever any good campaigns made for it other than dev ones? When I say good, I mean immersive and made you feel like your decisions meant something or advanced a story.

  13. I will say this and I know it sounds weird. Play the mission in the editor. For some reason, alot of the bugs in the campaign have not to do with the mission itself but with the way the "campaign program" within arma 2 reads them. Only thing is, when you start getting choices later in the campaign, you need to know which version of the mission to play to continue the story. I do know this though, you are apparently not supposed to find Lopotev in this mission.

  14. I am playing the campaign from the edito(because it seams much less buggy this way) and realize that both badlands and dogs of war have two different versions depending on what side you took in Bitter Chill. But once you win Badlands and Dogs of War(either version, which I haven't done yet), what is the next mission you get? IN the extracted pbo files, it has several missions listed under phase 7. Are there multiple endings depending on how you accomplished dogs of war? Thks

  15. I remember back in the OFP mfcti days, it would take at least an hour to build up enough money to buy 1 m1a1 or transport chopper. Now it seams as though you can buy one within 10 minutes.

Have I just been playing on the wrong servers(granted I only tried 2) or is this just the way it is? I mean, it was awesome that you had to build up to serious firepower. First you might start with a jeep to capture towns. Then maybe build 1 m60(the smaller tank). Then after a while you could finally get the big daddy. The m1a1. And it felt like you accomplished something. Not to mention when you finally got that first chopper.

What's the point of smaller weapons if you can buy an abrams right at the start? Please tell me my perception is wrong because I love player a first person rts(cti) and this kinda ruins it.

  16. If i want to Do this mission in editor, how to do? I have searched everywhere but cant find how to do that damn thing.

OK, download the pbo extractor(google it). Go into the arma instalation folder and find the addons folder. Open the missions pbo with the extractor. Scroll down till you see the campaign missions. Highlight all the files of a particular mission, extract to somewhere. Take the folder in the folder you just extracted that actually has the mission name on it, and put it in the "my documents" arma 2 "missions" folder. Now you can open it up in the editor.

  17. Why not just make planes cost enough where only the best players get them in MFCTI.

I remember back in the early versions of MFCTI for ofp, once you or the enemy got planes, it was over. They found your base and if they didn't kill it with their own plane, they told their buddies where it was.

Planes in a cti/warfare game should be an extreme luxury. That being said, if there was some way to incorperate the transport support with the uh-1 seen in the camapign, that would be amazing. Maybe you have to capture 5 towns before it becomes available and then do you get like 3 transports before you have to earn it again.

  18. The campaign still has many bugs(but I've noticed that many seam to go away when played in the editor). Delaying the Bear is the most glaring since it happens right at the start of the mission and is unavoidable. Your troops can't move. How did this pass beta? I have had 1 or 2 CTD but other than than, the game is quite stable. I think the priority should be performance and bugs #1, then whatever lingerring AI issues later.
