Which CPU to buy Intel i5 4430 or AMD FX8350?
smashwings replied to smashwings's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Thanks for the answer, the cheapest i5 was over my initial budget also, but thought than an i3 would not be enough, so it looks like I will have to get my budget a little bit bigger Except for ARMA3 I was playing all games without problems, so I update "only" because ARMA3, I like to play in domination servers and I think that I'm not going to get satisfactory results no matter the rig, that's why I'm not very confident upgrading. In SP it runs quite well as showed in my other post, but in MP there's the idea that the AI and similar are bottlenecking my CPU, I've tried a lot of servers and the differences are minimal. -
I had the problems many had in multiplayer (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?163442-How-to-avoid-GPU-underclock-in-multiplayer) , I may have a bottleneck with the CPU (E8400 clocked between 4.00 4.66), I know that a cpu change may not make MP playable because others have MP unplayable with new chips. I have read sinthetic benchmarks, including arma 3 ones posted here http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2306250 but I'm only interested in the best MP performance. I can't go over i5 4430 in money terms (will have to buy Ram and Motherboard, big investment for uncertain results), and the equivalent in money is AMD FX8350, AMD has best specs in paper , but in MP Arma3 what do you think would be better? Hello, I've been reading about the low GPU usage in multiplayer only, which I'm affected too, and noticed that the only change in multiplayer is that my GPU underclocks right after mission starts, before (in menu or singleplayer) GPU is top clock. Is there a way to force the GPU clock to it's max? Have tried with MSi Afterburner, and ASUS GPU Tweak, but automatic reduction of clock is present. Menu screen, High GPU usage, 49 degrees celsius, Top Clock 1163 core, 3005 mhz ( 6010 mhz in gpu tweak) mem Full Resolution http://imageshack.us/a/img89/3086/7ftu.jpg (366 kB) Showcase infantry, High GPU usage, 50 degrees celsius, Top Clock 1163 core, 3005 mhz ( 6010 in gpu tweak) mem Full Resolution http://imageshack.us/a/img191/783/dxjs.jpg (698 kB) Multiplayer Altis, Low GPU Usage, low temp 37 degrees celsius, low clock 784 core, 810 mhz (1620 in gpu tweak) mem Full Resolution http://imageshack.us/a/img5/9954/tkq7.jpg (382 kB) The "good" thing is that my GPU is cold as ice playing ARMA3! :p  CPU: Duo E8400 3.91 ghz GPU: Asus 660ti OC

How to avoid GPU underclock in multiplayer?

But only bottleneck in multiplayer is possible? in single player I get over 50 all the time at same settings -

thanks, have followed the guide and locked the clocks, but there is no difference, so at least I tested that option. Fixed clock Default clock -

Have downloaded Nvidia inspector but does not lock the clocks so get the same result. Tried a lot of MP servers , have the same issue in all of them. Also thought of bottleneck, but in Single player there is no bottleneck and the engine is the same, and cpu is not at full load also in MP (in SP more CPU usage than MP, as expected however). -

Thanks, forgot to mention I already put this option in Nvidia control panel, also different tweaks in launch options, arma.cfg, etc. So I only find that the GPU underclocks (only in MP), I know it should be an issue between "GPU driver-operative system-Game engine" or whatever but if I could force the clock maybe it gets better. MPTable.shadow & pixel shader PSSpecularAlpha Thread - the only one!

My problem was solved by the Arma2 Support that I wrote about the problem, they had a very good attention to my problem and I thank them so much. The solution for me was: 1. Create Arma 2 RFT shortcut on the desktop. 2. Right-click on the shortcut and select "properties". 3. Go to the "Shortcut" tab. 4. Add this to the very end of the "Target" field: -mod=@BAF -mod=@PMC so the whole target field looks similar to this: "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\Arma 2 Reinforcements\arma2rft.exe" -mod=@BAF -mod=@PMC (I have only Arma2 and RFT, not OA) -

Hello, since the 1.62 was out I have not been able to play online, I'm desperate because no solution have worked for me. I have ARMA2 since release and Reinforcements after, they are both physical formats, not steam. I haven't OA. Not neccesary for me because I only play (played) online. Tried reinstalling them in the ways said in the postand in other posts, game run until 1.60, the moment I install 1.62 stops working and gives the errors. Have updated card drivers, also have formatted the drive. Also haven't find a solution for people that don't have OA, only ARMA2 and RFT. Thanks -
Can I join an A2:CO host with only A2:RFT (and A2) ?
smashwings posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Hi, I have ARMA2 since it came out and now want to retake, want to play in a clan that it's hosts execute ARMA2 in Combined Operations mode. So, can I join this server A2:CO with only buying "ARMA2 Reinforcements" plus my ARMA2 ? according to:http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ARMA2_PackageCombination it has SP&MP full of Operation Arrowhead but says nothing about A2:CO. Thanks -

So the OA maps in multiplayer missions are low quality with A2+RFT? I tought it was full OA MP Content with this combination -

I have Utes and Chernarus available as maps, but in the internet servers all appear with a yellow circle with a question mark in it, I can join them so I don't know if it's this normal. I can see only one server that has green circle, and it has operation arrowhead lite (as I have looking in the expansions menu) in the expansions description. I thought "lite" was only for SP, and full MP, so servers should be green, but I think it has no real effect inside I have seen -

Yesterday I received Reinforcements DVD and installed it, the default directory was the ARMA2 one, so I left it install inside. But no combined operations icon or exe appeared o installed, only ARMA2RFT.exe. I have to do anything different to install ARMA2RFT in A2:CO mode? viewing the ARMA2 PackageCombination page I should get CO with this setup A2:RFT+A2 = A2:CO, A2-FullSP&MP, OA-FullMP, A2:BAF-FullSP&MP, A2:PMC-FullSP&MP ARMA2RFT.exe binary in A2:CO mode is MP compatible with A2:CO(A2:OA+A2 or A2:RFT+A2) and A2: OA games http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ARMA2_PackageCombination -

I know RFT doesn't have OA SP , don't know why I wrote it  . So thanks for the answer, with A2 and RFT I will be able to full join a A2:CO server -
I'm sure no one would care 2-4 fps less with 2xAA (optional of course), if you only want fps, run at 640x480 in super low quality, and you have a nice tactical shooter of the mid 90's.. :p

How to turn Anti Aliasing on - Game looks horrible without
smashwings replied to garack666's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
1920x1080 is a good resolution, but i'm sure it's not a 19 inch monitor but a minimum of 22" so the jaggies get bigger with it; Sure it looks good but never as good as AA. With tthe TFT's that exist now Aliasing is a FACT if not AA applied, native resolution and pixel/point measure dictates it -
x2 to all, don't understand the "new way" of no AA in games, and no full hd and similar resolutions, in a monitor, is not as near as a 4xAA smoth quality; I only could thing of an 5120 x 4096 resolution in an 19 inch monitor to equal 4xAA ,lol :p , not that far, but triying to say that high resolution is not the solution for smooth edges in a TFT, because when the native resolution increase, the inches do it also, so edges still visible, so AA IS needed, maybe not for some people but NOTHING equals the smoothness of AA nowadays

tried the 200% fillrate, is no near as 4xAA, it enhaces the quality but do not eliminate the jaggies as real AA, not to talk about the performance drop of course... -

I think too AA is a MUST in a game like that, for aiming at long distances and to give realism to the look. I stop playing GRAW because of that, have no AA spoils any of other graphic improvement, ARMA I (with ACE mod better) looks much more realistic because you can see ENEMIES at a distance and not "bunch of pixels" at far. And no, "Fillrate setting" is nothing like 4xAA, neither at 200% , so real AA is needed or I will stay at ARMA I. Sorry to say but I will think a lot to buy it (probably not buy) if not AA implemented.
