Textures/Objects Change/flicker when zooming in and out
Basil Brush replied to Motivator's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I've yet to see anyone demonstrate this NOT being present. -
ArmaHolic ArmA 2 Optimization

Parts of the engine are very old and parts are very buggy so his point still stands. You fan boys make me laugh. -

So the answer is not bother until they release a game with a new engine?. -

lol. BIS just ignore anything about this issue so I dont think its fixable. -
graphics bugs with ATI 4800 series (4850/4870/4890)
Basil Brush replied to fjaekel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I got the texture corruption with video memory at 'default' but when I changed to 'very high' and restarted it has not shown itself since (for now). Still get slow loading textures though quite often. -
ArmA2 1.03 Impressions - ALL Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here
Basil Brush replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Lets just see where Arma 2 is after the initial hype shall we?, say in 2-3 months time. The video memory issues in Arma 2 were in Arma and date back to what 2006?, I just cant see it ever becoming 'mainstream' with such problems evident. Of course the fanboys will shout me down but I am a realist and wise enough to know my opinion is neutral and unbiased. I don't hate BIS I would love for Arma 2 (just like I did with Arma) to be a fantastic game/sim that I play for years to come, just I cannot see it happening with all the issues. -

Oh dear looks like Arma 2 will end up just like Arma; played by hardcore fanboys only, I just cant see your average gamer putting up with all the glitches and bugs in the engine for long, it was an ambitious effort but one using a flawed engine sadly. BIS should never have made Arma and instead produced a new engine for this game. -
Objects suddenly appear when zooming in
Basil Brush replied to Motivator's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
lol this has been covered many times before and sadly there is no fix for this and never any comment from the developers, leading me to believe it cannot be fixed for whatever reason.. -
Its because your overclocking

I give up with this game. I swapped from 4870 to 4890 and flickering is still there but its worse now as I get this as well, quite laughable if it wasnt so annoying.
-
Why does this game run bad with these specs?
Basil Brush replied to Jackdaniels's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Probably because there is going to be a vast number of threads similar to this with the game in the current 'state'. I was hoping after Arma 1 we could have a more polished game but no... -
Can you make a video in fraps to show it?. The only thing I guess it could be because your using windows 7 not xp. Its been there in both Arma 1 and 2 on 2 different systems for me on xp.

I wonder if someone can post a video using a 4870 looking at Chernogorsk and show if they dont get this issue(s)??. -

Shadow NX it appear I have the same or at least similar to you but with an Intel based system and the same graphics card (also 4870 512mb by Sapphire). Problem is I tested with my old 8800gtx and the same problem exists so it must be something within the engine?, Arma1 had a lot of vram issues as I remember and it looks like nothing has changed?.:( -
Does not help with texture flickering and slow loading textures, believe me I've tried it all... its an issue within the engine I believe...

Who's going to resist buying on the 19th?

Already wasted my money on the German version wont be repeating. -
Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
Basil Brush replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Hardware is in my sig. Settings make no difference it happens on low/high. I tried my old 8800gtx card and its exactly the same. This is not an isolated issue as I've seen other videos on youtube where textures flicker. Its been like it since Arma 1 and its very annoying, not playing Arma 2 until its fixed (wont hold my breath). -
What OS?. Sounds similar to the issue I'm getting.

ARMA 2 DE 1.01 (final) Impressions - Post ALL Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here
Basil Brush replied to funnyguy1's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
will patch fix issues? -
Well it has happened on both my old pc and new pc, one with Nvidia one with ATI card. I have tried every variable setting in game.
-
Its not just the flickering which is a sizable bug to me but the slow loading/changing textures just makes the game feel so unrealistic on top of that we have lack of AA support and that just makes me not want to bother playing. Then I see this has been downgrade to 'normal' priority? umm why?. Its strange how no one from BIS seems to have any comment on this issue.
-
So your not seeing issue?.
-
hotfix for what? the texture/flicker problem yeah I'll believe it when I see it. I would put £100 on it not happening anytime soon (probably never). Anyway I've decided not to let it annoy me any more Arma 2 will sit idle on my hdd until they fix it so I guess that is that then.. awaiting OFP2..
-
Not for me it doesn't. Slow textures, slow fps, flickering. I'm beginning to think the engine itself is just deeply flawed.
-
No. I have the German version.
