A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment Mod 2
thomas82 replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
will the ACE-Mod make CQB enjoyable? *hope so* -
For Flashpoint fans, how many of you believe that...
thomas82 replied to webman1200's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Arma2 for sure..! BUT!!! the original operation flashpoint had much better "cqb-friendly" movement.. thats what i miss in arma2.. :-( -
we had a big CTF-Comunity before.. A lot of people were playin DM also, we played it before Clanwars.. I remember all the clans ([Mafia], {MOD}, {-SOD-}, DDz, FEAR, {ACE}, MMN, [MoM], #DK#, [FLS], [GGX], [HIS], [NHS], {USI}, {RS}, [MCY], ARMY, [RN], [OWM], NASF, [DFA], UKA, [=SFG=], [LBB], [iEF], [ETA], [TPC], =SA=, NPE, SAS, [sBS], BoP, [sWEC], AAF, [CSF], [POR], =USA=.) ..where are they now?
-
OFP1 is still better then arma/arma2 for the following reasons: -sp: campaign was much more emotional. You just felt like "you are Troska" -mp: controls/movement (for me the most important reason) => In arma u cant play CQB.. the changes (movement) wich have been done are a step backward.. now your reaction in cqb-situations is much 2 slow compared to real-life.. i'm not talking about how it is to run 2km with full-gear (in this matter it might feel realistic).. The G A M E P L A Y wich is the most important thing isnt good at CQB-Situations.. People are camping for the reason of bad controls, not for the reason of "beeing at war"

possible to play mp with the beta-patch installed? -
Movement is so sluggish in all BIS games, WHY?
thomas82 replied to Dreepa's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
..is the simulation of gear-weight overdone? it takes like 0.5s until the soldiermodel goes to the left when holding the A-button.. -
i still see the sluggish movement as the biggest problem for cqb.. the simulation of the gear-weight is simply overdone
-
i also have mouselaag.. same goes for movement; when i press "A" it takes 0.5s until the soldiermodel is moving to the left.. => impossible to play CQB
-
i played in a ctf-clan back in the ofp-days.. all the clans left the series when arma1 came out... 1 reason => movement/aiming
-
u dont see people playin cqb-missions because its not fun.. i played ofp since beginning.. the hole clan stopped playin when arma1 with its great movement/aiming came out..
-
wake up people!!! look at the servers please! nobody is playin CQB Maps.. OFP CWC was not a COOP game only! ..and i really hoped the movement/aiming will be good for cqb maps in arma2

thomas82 replied to Dreepa's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
i say it again.. movement/aiming was 1000 times better in OFP (CWC/RESISTANCE) then in ARMA1 / ARMA2 ..thats why u see only cti / coop players on the servers -
Movement is so sluggish in all BIS games, WHY?
thomas82 replied to Dreepa's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
i have ofp (CWC) still installed on my system.. the difference of moving/aiming is not FPS-related.. in ofp everything was much more "direct".. in arma its like all your actions u do with mouse/keyboard are realized in game a split of a second later.. this might be "weight-simulation".. we should have the option to turn it on/off serverside -

the movement of arma2 might be good and realistic in open fields.. but it looses the realistic aspect when u're movin inside towns.. the soldier you are controling feels too heavy.. as if he walked 50km before.. some call it "robotic" .. I WAS HAPPY WITH THE OFP MOVEMENT!!! 1000s OF OFP FANS FEELIN THE SAME WAY I DO!!! (those fans who left the series when arma1 came out only because of the new movement-model) IN OFP IT WAS POSSIBLE TO PLAY CQB!!! nobody is talkin from cod! ;-) now in arma2 it looks much better then in arma1.. and i have still hope that the big ctf-community is finding the way back..
