  1. I couldn't find any Project 85 or campaigns missions, so I made this myself. It's a mission by mission campaign set that will be updated with a new mission every day or two. Sorry there's no fancy intro or outro cutscenes, speech or infact any form of scripting. MISSIONS 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 DOWNLOAD: http://www.sendspace.com/file/uz6yld MISSION 1 - Porto Assault - Day 1/14:00: West German airbourne and regular army forces have landed on the Soviet protectorate of Porto. You and your squad of GRU Spetznas will use small craft to insert on the north eastern tip of the island. Once inserted, clear the town of Largo and move inland assaulting the German strong points along the axis of advance. Move quickly and quietly into the town of Largo and attack Objective 1. Use the cover of the forest as you advance forward into a covered position to attack Objective 2. Move slowly and assault the enemy infantry squad to the south at Objective 3. Finally move on the enemy camp at Objective 4 be aware that your assault will be met by covering fire from a small enemy position to the rear.   2. My dream for A.C.E 2: Include everything from A.C.E 1 that we've come to love. It's already perfect so just port it as is PLUS: A Iraqi-Afghani-esque map - Something about half the size of Sarhani with some variation; small afghan like villages in greenzones, small Iraqi style towns connected by major roads, terrorist training camps, something akin to cave systems, hill top fire base positions etc etc Some units - A selection of different looking islamic militant units; big bearded taliban chaps, al queda guys, iraqi militia types. Some hardware - Some crappy looking 1970's ex soviet armour; BTR-60's, BMP1/2, ZU-23, T-55's. Some missions - Port domination to the new island and set it up so that the Al-queda and Iraqi chaps are holding the small towns, and the taliban types are holding the villages and training camps. This sounds like a lot of work but for me it would be the final 10% needed to complete A.C.E as the ultimate modern infantry sim. Cheers

    SGT_SAVAGE, Thanks for the graphics suggestions. I set them exactly as you showed yours and frame rates are much better now. Ironically most of your settings were higher than mine! However I think the key problem was that I had set postprocess effects to very high. Maybe lowering shaders a bit would help also. Didn't kegetys release some kind of mod that allows you to have high shaders without fps problems being induced by heavy folliage? Cheers

    First of all thanks for the hard work!! The islands are just beautiful, the hueys look fantasticly detailed and the units are all unique, accurate and well-made! The bad news for me is that the mod is basically unplayable because of the terrible frame rates. I tried a view distance of 500M's and it made little difference. Trying to fly a chopper with 500M view distance is like trying to walk down the stairs in the dark, very dangerous! My system spec isn't great but it runs every other mod with 30+fps. My system is: Quad core Q9550, GF 9800GT TOP, 4GB RAM. What sort of spec machine do you need to run this mod? Cheers

    Campania de Malvinas MOD

    "Campaña de Malvinas" can be directly translated to "Campaign of Falklands". Malvinas is just the spanish name for the islands. The Spanish have their own words for many countries, for example Germany in Spanish is "Alemania". So if a Spanish-speaking mod maker were to make a "Campaign of Germany" they would translate it as "Campaña de Alemania", that doesn't mean they own Germany! :) Hopefully the mod-maker will develop an English language localised version and the name of the mod will be translated correctly i.e "The Falklands Campaign".   6. Fantastic!! ArmA is about as good it gets when it comes to infantry simulators. I'm very happy to hear that ArmA II has not strayed far from the tracks laid-down by OFP and ArmA. Cheers
  7. Ambushes are controlled by triggers linked to the players movement. Once you get close to the ambush point the AI will move towards your position. In reality, SEALs would squat all night in uncomfortable positions waiting for their prey to come into sight. Not sure I know too many players willing to do that! :) Cheers
  8. MISSION DOWNLOAD : http://www.sendspace.com/file/ebpbny Delta Sweep - NAVY SEALS (co-op 24 players/revive): You are part of a SEAL Platoon operating in a river delta in Southern Vietnam. Your base of operations is an ARVN HQ at the mouth of the delta. Use the PBR patrol boats to move up the delta from objective to objective. If you wish to return to base, use the radio to order the assigned helicopter for your squad, to fly your position. When everyone has boarded the helicopter, use the radio to tell it to return to to base. Note: This is a revive mission with on call HELIVAC. It works in Co-op and single player. Eliminate the V.C Patrols in this sector. Attack V.C Mortar positions on this hill. Destroy the three enemy hooches at the dock here. Execute an NVA and a V.C officer at the village here. Destroy the enemy artillery in this town. Use this clearing to Ambush re-inforcements coming from the North East. Defend Fire-Base Zulu against enemy wave attacks. Destroy the NVA AAA emplacements on either end of the bridge located here. Clear the paddy fields in this sector. Ambush an NVA column at the village located here. OVERVIEW: Cheers

  12. Reconnecting just to respawn seems a bit rediculous to me..It will also put extra strain on the server having people reconnect all the time. In Domination revive you have the option to either be revived, or wait 300 seconds and respawn at base. It's a very good system. Yeah they were good games. I'll be on again tonight for the big one. Almost definitely your mic, they're generally cheap and poorly made pieces of equipment. Do you have a mic/headphone jack on the front of the case to try?. Thanks for the compliment about being sl. Now if only Rambo, sorry Kilmer, had listened!! :P I have a request. Could you at some point release the template for your mission. I don't mean the template of object locations, but rather the scripts and coding for things like the helicopter extraction/revive. It would make it really simple then to change the objectives, build new target locations etc and produce more similar missions. Cheers
  13. The last 2 don't really show the magnitude of what we were up against. The place was swarming with V.C and the three of us (Horror, Take and I) had only pistols after crossing a river. I managed to killed a 2 man guard and take an AK. I hid behind a berm and by popping up, firing, then moving down the berm towards the right flank I killed off ~30 enemy soldiers. I held the right flank until I had defended the attack. Only when I crossed the paddy in front of me to revive Take and Horror, was I finally shot and we failed the mission. The only real problem with this mission is the revive system. I think there should be a timer - If you don't get revived in 5 minutes, then you respawn at base.

  16. I got on the PMC server tonight and the mission was superb. Great teamwork and the server was busy, the huey insertion/extractions were crowded. I did quite a bit of flying and a fair bit of crashing. I count 11 including myself. Higher than the sun! There were countless people joining the server, and then disconnecting because they didnt have the mod. Cheers

  19. I tried out MDSZ test. It's a nice map, but it's a bit linear and there's no villages or clearings along the river bank. Parrots beak and Quan binh son are good, but the rivers are just too narrow to trust the AI to navigate down. Cheers

    I'm NOT mixing anything up. You're mixing up marine and army helicopters, not me. You're making comparisons to army Hueys for absolutely NO reason. The marines have used a variety of Hueys; both single and twin engine varieties. The UH-1N TWIN engine huey was first flown in 1969 and is still in service today. Explain why that makes it unsuitable for a 1985 mod? Do some reading mate. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/aircraft/uh-1n.htm Project 85 includes Marines. FACT. In 1985 Marines flew UH-1N TWIN ENGINE Hueys. FACT. There's an historical basis for including a Marine Huey in project 85. FACT. It's upto Vilas to model whatever he wants. FACT. Cheers
  21. It's a shame to hear that it can't be easily fixed because it's a real immersion killer crawling up a river bank only to see folliage climb into the sky as you get closer. Are there any plans to re-populate the MeeKong map with single tree/bush objects? If so I'll probably wait before starting work on my campaign. Cheers

  23. The single tree maps run fine on my rig (Q9550, 2GB RAM, GF 9800GT TOP). One bug a lot of the islands share is floating bushes. Like this one. They seem to be particularly bad on the crests of sharp hillsides. Is this a general bug with a bush mesh or is it something that has to be fixed in every location it's found? Cheers
  24. Snake-man, I read your thread about a possible SEAL team campaign. Was anything ever produced? I think it has the most potential. The meekong map is great and offers a lot of possible scenarios. I'm thinking about a good story line and direction. Do you have any plans to update the SEAL units? One thing I notice is that they all look identical. They all wear the same headband and have the same camo clothing. Have you thought about maybe giving two or three SEALs tiger camo boonie hats? Perhaps another two could get camo beret hats they commonly wore. Talking of clothes, SEAL's and ASAS regularly wore denim jeans into combat. That'd be nice to see and would add some variety. Either way, I think I'll start on a meekong campaign SEALs campaign soon. Cheers
  25. Yeah I'd love to make some missions. Probably aim for a mission by mission set that works itself into a campaign as I did with my Porto P'85 campaign. The missions would be co-op capable. The hardest thing is trying to choose a topic from the thousands of stories that came out of the war. I'd love to make a dustoff campaign. If you haven't read "Dustoff: The Memoir of an Army Aviator" then I highly-recommend it! It'd be quite a refreshing campaign I think. The battle of Ia Drang would make for another fantastic mini-campaign and everything I can think of that it needs is already in the mod. Perhaps evolution or domination could be ported to the mod? That might help to make it popular online. It would need to be modified to remove the focus on towns, and instead focus on capturing firebases, small airstrips, villages, tunnel complex's, communication centers, brown water navy ports. The possibilities are endless. Regarding the removing of sounds. I wonder if there's a possibility to add in hand signals, not 3d Model animations, but simple 2D graphics. Did you ever play SEAL team? It had a great atmosphere and some very interesting details. For example, when you gave a command a small graphic would show the hand signal for that order. Perhaps in VTE the text could be removed, and instead, when you are given an order or give an order, a small graphic shows you the corresponding hand signal. It might seem a bit pointless but it was a very nice detail. But I don't know what can be modded and what can't be in that respect. If you have some ideas for missions let me know and I'll start working on them. Cheers
