  1. I have no problem purchasing DLC as long (like most) its of good quality.

A minor problem i see, If BIS where to create a DLC that was a new faction, For example, The British units, I wouldnt be to happy if it was a 'company' sized faction, Id want more for the faction, like all supporting elements, And with that id also want missions to go with it. The problem is, that most of the units are just a different colour(cammo etc etc) so the only thing new that you are getting is perhaps the armed truck (wimik?) and the weapons, I havent seen anything else so far.

As for the black element, Although its a faction, Its going to have a lot less supporting elements compared to an actual military. A decent campaign with this would need to be a must.

Exactly. My wishlist for a british DLC from BIS would be:

(All Vehicals in Woodland and Desert)

    - Troops AND Weapons (Woodland/Desert/MTP)

    - Landrovers (WMIK, Ambulance, General Service)

    - Challenger II

    - scimitar

    - Warrior

    - Bulldog (FV430)

    - Mastiff

    - Viking

    - Jackal

    - Vector

    - AS90

    - MAN Trucks (6t/9t/12t, Repair/Rearm/Refule)

    - Lynx (Army/RN)

    - Merlin (RN/RAF)

    - Puma

    - Apache

    - Chinook

    - Gazelle

    - Tornado

    - Harrier (RN/RAF)

    - Eurofighter

    - C-130

-Various RN Ships (Ocean, Illustrious, Destroyers etc)

I know its alot, but it is just a wish list :p

If all that was to be included, I would pay up to £15 for it, aslong as the quality was top notch ;)

  2. Let's say, hypothetically, that BIS were planning to release a DLC containing the following:

    • British forces including basic infantry types with appropriate weapons, transport helicopter, attack helicopter, MBT, light armored vehicle and a ground transport vehicle.
    • Black Element PMCs with two or three new weapons, a transport heli and a ground transport vehicle.
    • Karzeghistan, a new 150km² terrain.

No new game engine features, no campaign (except perhaps a couple of SP missions), just units and terrain.

What would you be willing to pay for it? And would you be willing to pay more if it contained a campaign?

I would pay £12 for the British army/navy/airforce stuff (aslong as their was enough units and of a high standard)

Black element - Probably 5-6 pounds.

Karzeghistan - up to £10 due to its size

Even know this is DLC, I would like to see some stuff released on discs, like with MS Flight sim paid addons. That's just my opinion though.

@MadDogX : Dont forget Attack and Transport Planes too ;) Also, support vehicals for the faction (In this case the british) like fuel, ammo, ambulance and repair vehicals.

  3. Since when was flight sim been a multiplayer game? Its a single player game from last i played it so it dont matter HOW many dlc's they make it wont split the so called community.

Also, was flight sim a moddable game?

Please tell me you are joking.

  4. Lmao! This whole thing about fragmenting the community is making me laugh so much! Just look at MS Flight simulator 2004/X . There is literately 100,000s of addons, that being aircraft, airports, scenery, land vehicles, sounds, visuals etc in the Flight sim community. Most of these are free, but a lot of them are also paid addons.

The FS community has never been split by this, and they have thousands more addons than we ever will have. So there is absolutely no issue with the community being split.

And as DM said, people in this community have been spoiled by free addons over the last 10 years. I think its time that BIS charge for extra content. It gives them an incentive to provide top quality addons in larger quantities than if they were free. If you don't want to spend the money, then don't. No one is forcing people to buy the DLC. If you don't want the pay for it, then don't. The modding teams will still (hopefully) be producing things for the people who don't want to buy the DLC. It a win-win for both sides, and for BIS.

@Walker - That is a load of rubbish. Looking at the MS flight sim world again, there must be hundreds of different 737s made by people, even though there is an official 737 with the game. The same principle can be applied here. just because BIS make a jackel, dosn't mean no-none else can make one...

Just my thoughts on the last few pages :)

  5. BUT as i said they must keep them informed because if they're building say a french pack the modders dont want to be building the same only to be duplicated by BI's effort.

But, if BIS make, lets say a french army pack, they can charge for it (which personally I would pay for). But people who don't want to pay for the DLC can still play with a french army pack if the modders still carry on their work. It works out best for everyone :)

  6. Arrowhead FAQ
Official DLC plans and after release support

As usual, Bohemia will try to provide the best after release support as possible (as our past track record shows). This time, we also have plan to release some significant DLC for OA, more details about these plans will be revealed later.

Nothing about paid DLC there

  7. Yeah. In my opinion, I think BIS should go down the same route that Microsoft did with their Flight/Train simulators. Let the community do their thing, but also BIS should release content.

I like the idea of them releasing factions tbh. Walking into the shop and buying the British Army faction, all boxed. Would be quite epic!

But, BIS would need to make sure that the units were of high quality, but also that there was enough in the addon to make it worth the money.

    - Full new factions (with everything needed for a standard warfare scenario : car /truck / apc / tank / chopper / plane + infantry)

    Ditto.

As a reminder : BIS confirmed that they will release paid DLC as a mean to finance further development, as sales of the core game on the PC platform do not allow for much additionnal free content.

Sorry, just out of interest have you got a link to the source of that? :)

  8. I'm not so sure... it would be hard to charge for a Bundeswehr mod, but obviously people are ready to pay for a full blown UK mod. And I know I would for a French one as well...

Tbh, I would pay for a full blown UK mod, but it would have to be FULL BLOWN, not just a few new units/weapons. It would have to include a hell of alot of stuff from the British Army/RAF/RN in order for me to buy it. Something along the line of whats included in VBS2 :p
