I wish they could at least : 1) Fix the stability issues (constant CTD) 2) Fix the campaign 3) Fix the missing and broken sounds 4) Fix the mouse lag 5) Fix the AI doing anything but what you tell them 6) Fix the AI unable to drive and to follow you 7) Fix the AI dying while disembarking from a chopper 8) Prevent the AI from disembarking when you use the "Move To" or "attack" command 9) Optimise whatever they have to in order to improve overall performance (I had no performance issue before 1.03) 3 month after the release the game is still unplayable for me. this;

I would suggest a new soundtrack that should not trigger to many soundbugs to go with those funny moments : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEcTMGTGAiY&feature=quicklist :D

Hi, Is there a beta patch that fix the campaign where we have to kill Prizak and can't because of its newly introduced invulnerability bug with patch 1.03? Thanks
-
Thx for that I'll give it a go anyway since there's so many bugs I'm ready to test anything.
-
Hopefully it is not working. I can see it from here : "3 suppress that target" "2 watch you fire got dammit!" "2 I'm hit!" "4 watch you fire got dammit!" "4 corpsman!" Forget that bug pile. Like everybody here you've paid for a pre-alpha demo. Have fun...

So do I. But we are not the dev and we're not supposed to understand how bad they codded things to make it work...don't you think?

There was a LOD fix/mod available for Arma 1 which nearly completely solved this issue. But sure enough the AI is too good at finding and firing at your exact position as well. Even at long range and/or in concealed areas. -
I didn't see this thread at the time I've opened mine... anyway I even thought it was a game feature to be that exaggerated. Well...same problem here. Seems like smoothing/acceleration problem.

Morsa's Any Gear Mod in Arma 2
50.cal replied to Boss86004's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
thx for that! -
That would be ace. Actually as someone said before if the game had a way to set the gore up to a realistic level it might have been censured in some countries and the PEGI rating would have been set at 18+...as it was planned initially. Did you notice that this version is way less gore than Arma 1? I see more and more games advertising this 18+ PEGI (nearly as a feature) before going back to 16+ short before release. Don't take ppl for fool but don't forget they are isn't it? ;)

Morsa's Any Gear Mod in Arma 2
50.cal replied to Boss86004's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Hi, I was looking for the same thing. It works in arma 2 but it generate a bug which makes the map disappear and if you do a savegame then you can not use it anymore. I hope Morsa will do a new version of it and make possible to have munition coming at the same time we choose a weapon ;) -
You can dim instruments lights in all aircrafts certified for night operation. It can takes up to 30 minutes for the human eyes to fully adapt to the darkness of the night and only few seconds to adapt to day light. I remember while I was doing my night VFR qualification I had to scotch a piece of paper on the top of my backup torch lamp in order to use it. It's not like driving a car by night. The only lights you see come from your instruments the moon and the ground. Try to use a torch lamp without dimming it and you'll be completely blinded ;) The in game nvg seems to over react to the proximity of low intensity light sources as well.
-
What about night VFR then? Ask chopper pilots. 90% of them are VFR only. No there's a problem with the game. You can't see a thing in a clear night with or without nvg. I guess it's related to an overdone HDR effect.
-
It was the exact same problem in arma 1. Sure there's a mod that fix this problem but it generates some bugs in the sp campaign as well. Hope they'll do something about that because it kills the fun in night ops.

Aiming difficulties with ironsights and aimpoints
50.cal replied to 50.cal's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Agree. That's why I think a fix magnification (perhaps 2x mag) would be good. I just don't like to see the sight being zoomed in and out each time I hold the right mouse button to hold my breath. Although I can live with that I would more expect to see that kind of feature in an arcade game than in a so called simulation. Back on the mouse lag (which doesn't come from a computer performance issue) it is definitely not that difficult to aim in reality. Sure there's inertia but you feel the weapon in your hands...it's not the same. By now you're more steering your weapon than aiming. Well I mean when I want to move my body to the right it moves when I decide to move. I don't put an impulsion and then see my body moves ok? While some features are really nice and well implemented (like the degraded aiming abilities under fatigue or stress) some other are just to much. At the end the ballistic is the core of the shooting simulation and it quite well done. I think there's no need to add many more barriers. -
Aiming difficulties with ironsights and aimpoints
50.cal replied to 50.cal's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
For ppl experiencing oversensitive mouse reaction it sounds more like a hardware/driver related bug. The problem I'm mentioning seems to be related to the inertia simulation. Maybe the best way to make everybody happy would be to make it optional. The more optional things we have the better! Eliminating the floating zone improve the overall aiming abilities but doesn't eliminate the mouse lag/ weapon inertia. You can see in the latest dev diary video at 06:40 ( ) that we are not the only one having difficulties to aim properly :DBy the way it is related to the floating zone in this precise case. -
Aiming difficulties with ironsights and aimpoints
50.cal replied to 50.cal's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Thx I'll try that. That's exactly what I mean. I guess it's an attempt to simulate the weapon inertia. The idea is good but it need to be tweaked. The inertia would maybe make your aiming point go further and then come back with an assault rifle. At the moment it really doesn't feel natural to me. It would be ok for a saw but not for a m16 m4 or AK. -
Aiming difficulties with ironsights and aimpoints
50.cal replied to 50.cal's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Please try to behave like an adult keep a clean level of communication with me. Those "then just don't use it" or "play an other game" are not necessary thx. The reason why I think a fix zoom would help is exactly because of what you said. To see something at distance I systematically find myself zooming in with aimpoints and ironsights. -
Aiming difficulties with ironsights and aimpoints
50.cal replied to 50.cal's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I just feel it's not very realistic to be able to zoom without optics. About the lag if it's to simulate the weapons weight then it's a bit too much. I would expect to have that amount of lag with a saw but not with standard assault rifles. I can tell you that I never had that kind of lag with my sig 550 during my duty... -
double post sorry

In game rifle accuracy - why is it done like this?
50.cal replied to TAW_RiEvEr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I agree that with some known to be precise weapons the dispersion cone is a bit to loose by now. -
Same problem here. The AI have a lot of difficulty to execute orders properly and completely fails to prioritize tasks. Maybe I'm not using the right technique but this problem is recurrent on any vehicle I use. The AI gunner does too often ignore nearest targets. There's many little AI improvements and bugs correction to do but at the end I'm sure we'll have a nice working game. This is probabely not the most exciting part in game development but there's no way around! Good luck to BIS and thanks again for making such a nice game.

Just to let you know I'm having no more freezes since I've added "-maxmem=2048" in my game shortcut properties.
