performance Arma 1 vs Arma 2

I can max out arma 1. I expect to max out arma 2. Could you do that when it first came out? That's a foolish expectation in my opinion since everything in ArmA 2 is more complex than ArmA 1. Â I have no idea what kind of computer you're running, but at the time when ArmA came out, no computer system that existed could max out ArmA (or so it was often said on these boards). Â It has been optimized quite a bit, however. They still say the same about crysis yet many computers (including mine) can. I strongly doubt that I wouldn't be able to max out arma 2 but we'll see. Arma 1 only came out two years ago. There were certainly computers that could max it out at that time. I can max out arma 1. I expect to max out arma 2. Could you do that when it first came out? Â It has been optimized quite a bit, however. ArmA2 most likely will be more efficient than the original arma, giving computers (assuming you have a dualcore minimum) that didn't do so well with ArmA1 decent performance with ArmA2. I currently can max out ArmA1, i'm expecting to max out ArmA2 and to be able to put more units on the map without a drastic performance decrease. Be aware that my computer had cost $750 dollars, i'm reusing the monitor. It may be more efficient but it will also be more complex. Â It may be twice as efficient but if it is three times more complex, then you'll still need a better computer to max it out. Â I don't think there is anything that indicates that ArmA 2 will run as fast or faster than ArmA on any given machine. Â I certainly hope you're right, though. No, arma 2 will require more of a system but it won't be rediculous.

    Track ir

Cool, I'm still not sure though as I live in Canada and their shipping fees are rediculous meaning with would total out to $200 even without duties and such. We will see though, thanks for the replies, I will keep this updated if I decide to buy it.

    Track ir

Thanks, keep it coming but you pretty much just convinced me. Seems like arma 2 will use the full 6dof. Not quite sure how that will change things but it will definately be interesting. Anyone have the headset clip? How does it work? Also, now that I have you here.... anyone know how much more mainstream arma 2 is gona be in releases across North America? With arma 1, I had to buy online as I couldn't find it in any Canadian stores. Will arma 2 be different since they seem to be competing with codemasters who, most definately, will have a big NA release? Also, do you guys think there will be separate release dates for regions like arma 1? Thanks again

    Track ir

Hello, I am looking at purchesing a trackir set for use with armed assault and have a few questions. First, for those who own it, is it worth it? What are the pros/cons? Second, do you think arma 2 will support it? Thirdly, how about other games? Is this a dying technology or will there be continuing support for it in the future? Thanks

    aa super slow

how about: <a href="http://cgi.ebay.ca/nVidia-GeForce-7100-GS-video-graphic-card-PCI-E-256-MB_W0QQitemZ200092543122QQcategoryZ801 92QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.ca/nVidia-....iewItem</a> it says you need a 16X pci... how would I verify this? also, I get the impression that you must hook that card into a power supply... What would this involve? and how do I know if I can do it?

    aa super slow

it wont let me patch to 1.05 i found a way to put aa controlled but I don't even know what af is. (probably obvious, i just don't know) so looking at cards on ebay.. should I stay with 256 or go to 512? how would I find out about the 4X or 8X?

    aa super slow

Thx for help, but none of that worked. Did 1.05 make any big performance fixes that might help?

    aa super slow

Ok, i have found a way to patch it up to 1.02. I can't find the 1.03 or 1.04 patches.. anyone have them? 1.05 doesn't work at all. and even with 1.02, it is just as slow ... if it matters, i have the czech version

    Map Editor suggestion

well I was thinking that there would still be a script code box but also some drop menus for the besics such as object height
  15. Besides things like dynamic building damage and stuff... I would love to see a mission editor with much easier to use triggers. Such as a drop menu where it has a list of choices, say you pick from the list object height ... it would bring a new window up where you could select object height and stuff. The same being for ai triggers (if you ever played the starcraft map editor)
