ArmA2 1.03 Impressions - ALL Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here
cartier90 replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
^ one of the things Ive noticed that I like and dislike is that missions can take AGES !, they take my day away , totally addictive - literally feeling your pulse rise when you hear russian voices in the distance. I would like to know how to respawn from the custom missions - noone has given me a definative answer yet ! - I keep dying. -

I have to admit Ii put 'Low' Post process on when FPS dips a little and is definately helps, strange really... -
Can AI be patched or is it more 'hard wired' than that ?
-
I have searched. How come their not particularly luminous - they dont seem to actually 'light' anything up - will this be patched ?
-
Yapab ^ yeah WTF is that !, no one has an opinion ???

Sometimes I think ARMA2 is giving us too much of a good thing. The total freedom that one has has allowed multiple ways to achieve objectives. The thing is , to tally with the whole 'realism' avenue BIS are striving for, I am left wondering how on earth to approach a mission, or even just eliminating a few patrolling guards. If I design a simple mission, the outcome appears to be fairly random in terms on the number of troops on my side left standing as opposed to the opposition. Bare in mind this is using approximately the same tactics each time. Is there a 'proper' way to infiltrate a village ?, should snipers take out machine gunners first ?,..you might ask 'how longs a piece of string' and perhaps that is the right answer. There are many variables to contend with. There have to be general rules to stick to, and Im talking beyond the usual cover/concealment rules to more situation specific advice. Video tutorials would be most helpful with commentary on the thought process of how to do things would be great. Otherwise, we are left with guesswork and trial by error....

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
cartier90 replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
holy crap uber, good fps scores. I have a 920 stock, OCin is a mystery to me. I wouldnt dare. If I was to pay someone to do it, would I get reasonable fps increase with a mild OC to 3.2 praps ? -
Easy 'drag and frop' addons ??
cartier90 replied to cartier90's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
aah, so thats why I havent seen too many around... -
I had a lot of fun with the addons in OFP, are there any for ARMA2 made SPECIFICALLY for ARMA2 that I can easily install. Stress on the easy !, otherwise can one do this for ARMA1 addons ? If not, when is it likely that we will see ARMA2 addons...

Perhaps Zombie you feel particulary aggrieved as you have in the past created a mod. Dedicated time to it and feel almost a part of the history/culture of the game. This is a logical point of view. You are likely to be more receptive to issues that maybe others dont notice or will forgive more easily as you are a advanced user ? It seems ironic though, that you have the patience and understand the skill required to mod something, yet cannot realise that what BIS have to 'solve' is a order of magnitude more difficult and larger a problem than what you did. A lot of people, myself included forgive problems as we havent dedicated as much effort as others, my £25 didnt feel like your £25 spent +your expectations.... -
Il be perfectly honest, however good voice recognition is there's one thing stopping me using it... Im sorry - but I'd feel a bit of a tool :o Please dont be offended those of you that do..I just couldnt pull it off...

Easy 'drag and frop' addons ??
cartier90 replied to cartier90's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Lol, that would be an addon ...ahem and given the 'fun' I had before and my sig....dear me...:) - as for the simple addons ???? -
I've never been a completist - I take what I can from games and enjoy those aspects of them and dont tear my hair out over missions or parts that I cant complete or dont enjoy. With ARMA2 - I just muck around with the editor - trying to currently work out how to use the editor and play the occasional user uploaded mission. I sympathise with the 'its broken' crowd re the campaign. Parts of it are. To be honest though...., even if it wasnt, Im just not keen on aerial and g round vehicles. I like being a grunt, and dont really take much pleasure from tank or aerial warfare. This may sound like sacrilege here, but for me, infantry combat is why I bought the game. However a small voice is telling me though that perhaps I feel this way because the aerial and vehicular combat aspects are just not as polished and if im going to be really honest - disappointing. Those elements feel like c2001 OFP era, albeit in higher res. I would be interested to know how any of you play - sticking to soldiering or delving into warfare mode and trying at least to complete the campaign ?

BloodnGuts....Im always impressed by people who can take lower performance and still enjoy the game to its fullest. Makes me feel 'greedy' for wanting more fps ;) If you can, you need to save for a gaming rig, build one maybe, - do overtime ! -
Could this be possibly the best game in history?
cartier90 replied to TheMonster's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I think overall, at least for sheer production values GTA4 is one of the very best. Truly a groundbreaking title blurring the lines between a living world and a game. (namely due to physics and scale ) ARMA2 you could say is the best war game ever. -
I have just noticed, actually looking up at the light'bulb', there is no light !, just a very faint glow on the ground. Im in the editor btw and dont want to mess about with logics...

If you read what I wrote Dlc there was actually no 'insult' made. Your computer truly has something wrong with it - I have a I7 920 stock, 4 GB DDR3 and a 1GB GTS250 - I get no less than 27 fps in a complex mission, in the editor, 40 plus is the norm, perhaps low 30s in a heavy fight. You have a less powerful CPU but a more powerful GPU. But even with a good dual core you should not be getting catastrophic fps like 4/5. Christ this game is divisive !
