Hey Guys looks good. I use to work on the Unsung Mod a while back. I was contacted by Bigstone and Savage regarding obtaining past work. I've had some computer issues the last while and finally got it sorted and located all my mod files binned and raw. If you guys are still interested let me know where I can send them, they will be huge files mostly plants and islands. Cheers -
I've been throwing the idea of building a non Vietnam island for a while, and have come up with the Korengal valley and surrounding area. This valley is in the Hindu Kush, and will include the neighboring Valley where Seal team 10 and the Sheppards met. I've noticed that others have made up the KOP, Restrepo and missions that took place but lacked the actual terrain. If there is any interest in helping with this island, placing the vills, roads etc or making missions to move it along let me know, my time nowadays is limited I can do everything but it might not see the light for a while. Or I might just move it to A3, if there is any interest for A2 I would like to hear it. the island is currently in V3 with just initial sat and mask. I've been away from the Mod for some time, I downloaded 2.5 and have been running LRRP missions into lowlands. Sav I have to say you took the ball and ran with it, Great Job!!!, I found an old HDD with a bunch of my unfinished projects one was Khe Sanh with new veg, hill 881 N and south with 861/a are finished etc. If you want it your more then welcome to it you and I where working on it a few years back. Anyways great work guys. -
As the title states, editor worked great before the last patch now it wont save the mp/sp missions, I've searched my entire HDD and have not found the pbo files. Has anyone else had this issue, I've tried reinstalling...both times is says install successful. My only option is to remove the program and do a fresh install without the latest patch. Cheers

@ SigintArma Okay I understand what your looking at. That is and easy fix basically the terrain wasn't cut at the edges so the engine extrapolates / stretches the terrain, it's an easy fix for the mod team to remove that issue, thanks for pointing that out. @ Wurschtie My bad I thought I got all the texture errors out of Dong Ha. I'll have to do a more thorough chk. Cheers. @ bas44331 Dong Ha was designed to facilitate a large mp gaming format, basically the NVA take the vills and hold. the US BASE would be on the South across the river the NVA could be in the northern vill area. I didn't place any bases, strong points, trench lines etc, as that would limit the usefulness. I ran out of time to make any mp missions for it, I'm also not a rockstar at making MP missions so it would take some time, feel free to make them. @ CHB68 the organization of the release into proper folders was my error, by the time I realized the error the mod was already uploaded, I wasn't going to go through another 30 hours of pain reloading the release, simple instructions can be made to insert the mod into the game, these have been done. I'm glad to here that ppl are enjoying the mod. The feedback of bugs are very welcome. -

@ Sigintarma if your talking about the terrain in the distance this could be the BI synth terrain enabled. but to your question that the areas are similar, isn't accurate. We used the actual SRTM converted into DEMs of both geographical areas, Plei Trap and Ia drang valleys are very different, but if the BI synth terrain is enabled the topography in the distance is the same, but you would be chasing rainbows if you tried to get to it. -

We do have some missing files that are currently being uploaded that will fix the dong ha and SEA missing objects errors we will be including the sever key in this patch. it is almost finished uploading, PGI will be making the announcement shortly -

@ Old Bear thanks for reporting those errors, I have a fix that I can release as a patch, I think the problem is related to adding the CA configs folder into the root of both the dong ha and SEA maps. I am testing now. where are you locating those rpts it's been a few years since I looked at them and cann't remmeber where they are located ...having a seniors moment. -

This is no prank the file has finally been uploaded. It took me two days to upload this file fighting drops/ timeouts finally I had to sit in front of the computer and babysit the upload. Uploads are always throttled back my provider dropped mine to 24k/s it was painful. We are now coordinating with the host to make sure the file isn't corrupt and the release goes smoothly. -

I've been compiling the mod for the past few days with the help of SAV and PGI, it will be released in 5 sections, It's basically a total revamp with tones of new content and islands as SAV has mentioned. I'm uploading the release to our ftp for distribution to the other sites. This is a big release and we will need the help of the usual sites and more to prevent bandwidth issues, also we will look at what is required to release to www.moddb.com. There are a bunch of missions ready to go, and will be released shortly. We enjoy seeing other peoples missions and look forward to seeing what you do with this release. Thanks for your patience. It always seems that we set small goals which soon explode into huge addons. Even with this release we already have more content on the way. the core is done and redone so more islands, units, missions etc will follow. -

I've been working on a small island aswell which is finished just going through final testing. It's called Dong Ha, google it, a book was written about this AO. This is a great island for mp gaming, it is flat with a few vills, lots of large rice paddy areas. Okay I've been quiet for a while here is the reason. Just a quick glance at a long awaited island. Still in early stages but major delay was reworking of the plants and getting the right look. on Hill 881S looking NE Assaulting Hill 881S from NE So, this is of course Khe Sanh. And yes AI view blocking is working very well, in jungle and in open areas. This also was part of the delay in starting this island, we had to come up with a working solution that is easily implemented. -
I've been scanning the forums but haven't found a solution to this problem. I've created a two sided pane and applied a texture to it. Now I've copied and pasted it to create a layered look from one side of the model it looks good but when looking at it from 180 degrees I get transparent edges around my "veg", the Alpha channel is fine with no blurring. I'm applying the texture using O2 via the "A" then the "B" keyes once I've loaded the texture using the correct aspect ratio. I know I'm doing something wrong. Also no rvmat is used at this stage. Thanks for the feedback guys it's much appreciated. The issue of AI LoS is/has been addressed. problem if you want to say it's a problem is the islands being made now are all individual trees bushes etc not forest sections like back in A1 and OFP. Back then you just made the view geo lod for the 40x40 grid and placed the forest section and volia AI view block. Auto clutter in A1 and A2 do not use geo lods as it would really draw down the performance. So What we had to do is make a few generic 40x40 view blocks eg a thick jungle view block and a grass view block, they have been made but only the jungle view block was implemented in about 70% of the jungled areas, the grass view block was not added yet. They do work but we are tweeking them to get the best AI view block that still gives the AI some view distance. First tests you could walk right up to an AI in the jungle and he wouldn't see you only if you made a sound or fired your weapon did he become aware of your presence. We have relaxed this but it still needs work. We have made the view block using vertical and horizontal layers so even if a heli flies over head there is a good chance he wont see you. The grass view block sections work very well and will be added for the next patch. There are also other options we are looking at other then the view block sections but these will take a bit to make and implement. We don't like being shot at from 200 feet by the AI also so it's right up there on out to do list. Cheers
