Hi guys, I'm on a wireless Broadband connection 24.0 Mbps, but I'm still getting lag problems on GameSpy. Ping is usually great, but then it just jumps to the 600s for a few seconds (as i've been told) before returnign to normal. It's a bloody nuisance! any ideas as to what I can do?

...Continued Pick a point on the hill for your tanks to go to, where they can see the town. Give them the weapons free and engage at will. They should begin firing into the town. Since no one's in their tanks, those infantry don't have a chance, especially with HEAT! The rest is up to you really. Just watch for the two tanks racing to the road to your 10 o'clock as you face south. Once nearly all's dead, send in the tanks into town, and complete the mission.

Hmmm, I have a different approach myself. You need visibility set very far, at least 2km. Also either binoculars or the Druganov for yourself. After defeating the small outpost, hopefully you should have the UAZ available. With everyone else in tanks (2 per tank) you and no 2 get into the uaz. Order your tanks to go to the saddlepoint in the hill to the west of the outpost, just out of sight of the town. Make sure they are on ceasefire as well. Head yourself in the UAZ to the mountain North of the town. Climb it until you get as far as the comms tower. That would be a great place to view the town, if it wasn't for the forest in the way. Head down the hill to the east of the forest, there's a rocky ledge that is a perfect spot for what follows. Now, take advantage of that wonderful visibility, and spot by right-clicking on every enemy visible in the town. Also note the two tanks off in he distance about a mile or so directly south of the town, near the coast. Order two of your tanks to Reload HEAT. Now look over at the saddlepoint, which your tanks should be just behind.....

I wonder these days, what with everyone now having far better computers than before, are people increasing their view distance? In some missions, especially tank ones, it can completely change the ballgame. Yesterday I was replaying "Feild Exercise" from Resistance, and instead of scraping through with the normal "wading in with tanks and kill all in sight", I put my four tanks on a saddlepoint in view of Modrava , went to an elevated position overlooking the city, told 'em to Reload HEAT, and acted as spotter while they let rip. Not even a hit on my tanks, and they just rolled in. When I first played, I could never have done that, as Modrava would have been obscured by "fog". It's great seeing rolling hills and roads stretching off into the distance, even on foot. Maybe because I live close to similar real-life landscapes (Ireland) but I definitely appreciate the effects of terrain on the success/failure of a mission.

All looks good. This coupled with the Irish Defence Forces pack (look it up) should make OFP miles more fun! -
Website's down.

Has it ever been done?

Anyone with any news?

Alright then, how about this idea for home missions (only because I'm lazy, and want to make missions on the basic islands). Starts as a big training exercise on an island off the West coast. Going into the breifing, it's clear that it's not actually happening. Then you zoom in on one soldier's head, and white out. Suddenly you're in his imagination (what's needed for training exercises) and it's all too real, if a little implausible (the baddies will be the "breakaway republic of Cork"). Basically it's only real in his head. Implausability will be maintained throughout. That's my missions idea. Does it make sense? A good approximation would be.......whenever the rugrats go on their adventure, they let their imaginations go. Something like that with this guy.

Another idea I'm thinking of: Doing a copy of the Defence Forces ad in OFP (same camera, music etc) as a cutscene (with some modifications). Good/bad idea?
-
Let him off. I can see Imshi's point. If he was doing a model of the Aran islands, or another island off Ireland's coast, then maybe. but the Mini-Ireland isn't realistic, so somewhere else with it. That said, do continue with it. It looks promising.

A very interesting idea. Put in the towns, ports etc in the right places, and we may be onto something here.......
-
*grumble* I give up. Just pm where the breifcase is, I have the password sorted...... God I feel stupid.........
-
You didn't mention the MAN trucks....
-
I can't wait! I'll play this even if I have to rebuy OFP!
-
Imshi, I never thought of that. Amen I say.
-
as in "Real IRA" troops, like what you see on the news bulletins? I point you to the Northern Ireland mod upcoming. (look to sniperuk, for he knows the thruth!)
-
Hang on.... you mean there'll be women soldiers too? Nice and accurate. I know quite a few girls in the Irish Reserves and Permanents who'd put many men to shame.

[Double posted- dunno how to delete!]

Actually, have a question. Will this mod be Resistance only, or original compatible?
