  1. Hi, I'm using OFP launcher with my addons divided up finely into a lot of small mod folders and it works really nicely, but I'm wondering if the great mass of missions I've downloaded are taking up memory. Does OFP map mission .pbos into virtual memory along with addons? If so, I might have to start thinning 'em out I do put them into subfolders (eg. OFP/Missions/Vietnam, OFP/Missions/ORCS etc.). ...suppose I could use OFPAM to activate/deactivate missions and OFP launcher to start with the addons I need. Thanks, Cornhelium

    Sebnampack2 with jam conversion?

Great news STT, Will JAM HD mags be used by default on the new units? SebNam2 units use high dispersion by default IIRC and I'm just thinking of existing mission balance. Cheers, Cornhelium

    Ofp 2 slogan

I kind of agree with Toadlife about Virtual Battlefield System being the more appropriate title - it would clear up any confusion for people who still aren't sure what OFP is all about. ...Then again, I think the name Operation Flashpoint is something to take pride in, so how's about: OFP2: Virtual Battlefield System ...nah, too dry

    Exploding man

Steady on bmg mate...arms & legs flying around are one thing, but a "huge ass explosion" could really upset the moral majority This sounds cool though I personally turn all gore off in OFP (too pure a game to sully with graphic violence IMO - it's a bit like having gore in Chess or Tetris). I'm glad you're looking into it for the Colonial Marines mod though Nephilim...having read the USCMC manual, I've got a good idea who's gonna explode, too

    Ai thread

Hi, Tracker Units I think it would be great to have units that are able to track living enemy units by moving to locations where they've been and following on from there to the next location. Imagine cleaning up at the end of a mission where you just can't find that last enemy. You'd order your tracker to "find bad guy" and he'd start on the trail of the nearest living enemy unit, maintaining the combat mode and behaviour he was previously set to - you'd follow him and your team would follow you. AI teams would also have this and use the tracker where a detected unit had not registered as killed and no immediate threat was detected in the area (ie. they'll only start tracking once a firefight is over). The set up would need to be the same - tracker takes point and leader follows him, with the rest of the squad following leader. This would be useful for all kinds of missons - including search and rescue where your tracker goes after the nearest living friendly instead of enemy, tracking down a sniper, and being tracked by enemy forces Å• la Tears of the Sun. Going even further, tracker dogs that could track a single designated unit would be too cool to play with, or against. This'd all need to be fairly realistic though and not too accurate - each game unit or group might need to leave a "trail" of gamelogics and that'd probably eat up too many cpu cycles...a project for the scripting gurus maybe? Interface discussion

Hi, Been going back to Raven Shield a bit recently and must say the order issuing interface is superb and I think it should be ripped out wholesale for OFP2, though unlike RvS a mouse pointer should be visible while you're using it. Using F1-F12 keys for selecting team members, tapping the space bar would issue move command or an interactive object command as Crassus said, while holding it would either bring up a breakdown of commands available for the unit selected/object under the cursor, or the full branching OFP comms menu set in "Windows Start Menu" form if no object was under the cursor. If no team member/s were selected then the orders would be issued to the whole team. It's so great how you can be rid of the RvS comms menu and back to shooting just by releasing the space bar. In fact, RvS is the only game I don't use GameCommander with for issuing orders (probably a good thing the amount of swearing I do at the RvS goons  ) - it's just easier to use the game interface. Combine RvS's menu system with OFP's detailed command set and ability to assign teams on the fly and you'd have near-perfection IMO. Maybe the member/team selection could even be integrated too. Cheers, Cornhelium

    Lets talk usmc

Looking great Waffendennis. It's great that OFP's getting an AV8B to complement Falklands Mod's awesome Sea Harrier. Finally this plane is getting its rightful place in a combat sim, and I've been waiting ever since Durell Software's "Harrier Attack" in 1983

    Nomad mod

Hey robbo, great to hear the the Nomad mod is still progressing. It's the best new's I've heard in ages. I love the current (v3) version of the island. It feels like another planet, and the cave objects are really nice. I tend to agree with One and hooahman on the Russian units. UCE-JAM and ORCS packs for men, RHS and Desert OFP for vehicles, VIT APC pack for both (sorry I've probably forgotten some other great Russkies). Mujahadeen and Afghan Army units would rule, as would 2002 units for Pathan (Taliban),Tajik/Uzbek (Northern Alliance) and Hazara forces. Here's a good site I found on the Soviet/Afghan war: http://www.bdg.minsk.by/cegi/N2/Afg/Waraf.htm Cheers, Cornhelium

    Bas russian opfor vehicles

Way to go BAS! I really appreciate these in Single Player too - it's great to have some light mobile firepower for the Russians that you don't need AT weapons to combat - gives firefights that extra dimension without the inconvenience of running out of LAWs

    Roc mod 2.0 released

Hey Billybob, Do you have the actual addon pack installed (separate download to the campaign)? If not, the Avon Lady still has it mirrored here: http://www.filefront.com/?filepa....C20.zip You'll also need an extra fix for the addons which you can get direct from Taiwan Workshop's website: http://otw.jmfoz.idv.tw/downloa....FIX.zip Cheers, Cornhelium

    Some stuff...

Great work as always Footmunch. I'm still having great fun with the Beagle on Tonal, but the Sabre will be getting a look in soon the_shadow - hi, the Swedish Forces Mod is working on a nice looking Viggen (single seater version). I agree - it's a dream aircraft. I heard that the round from the Oerliken 30mm on the Air-Air variant has the same penetrating power after 1km as the 30mm Aden round has when it leaves the muzzle! Add S/TOL and the all-important resemblance to Battlestar Galactica's Viper and you have an essential OFP addon
