Hi there Enjoying the ARMA 2 "experience" and so far ( touch wood) have not experienced any of the issue reported in this forum. One thing I have noticed is that when viewing objects from a distance ( eg. chickens on the gound or helicopter in the air) there is a white'ish circle that surrounds them. As the object gets closer to you it gradually disappears. Not a major deal, but must confess can get annoying. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the bloom/hdr issue ? I'm running the game using latest patch ( 1.04 ) on XP (SP 3) and GTX 285 with 182.50 drivers. Have AA and AF enabled with most settings on Normal execpt for Post Processing which I have disabled. Are there any in-game tweaks I can try ? I've tried playing around with gamma/brightness etc but doesn't seem to make any difference. Appreciate any advice you can offer cheers

Hi guys Thank you for your replies. Will try changing difficulty and see what happens. Must confess though you made me laugh.......chooks are the enemy ?? By the way, as stated in my post I have Post Processing off. Will report back cheers ---------- Post added at 09:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:17 AM ---------- update: I would never had guessed it but you guys were bang on. As soon as I changed to Regular the blobs went away.......even on the chooks !! Thanks for putting me straight. cheers

I have an X-Fi ExtremeGamer and did as kklownboy suggested. Worked a treat. Sound was very uneven before adjusting the EAX Effects slider, but since then sound is more even, though it still has slight issues. By uneven I mean, when firing a weapon the sound was very muted but now is now more realistic and louder. Worked with CoD World at War as well. Before adjusting sound had a slight echo about it, but now it is much clearer and the echo has gone.

Missing xAudio2 file(s) & sound issues

HINT: TO prevent SOUND distortions please try disable X-Fi CMSS-3D/SVM ! I am running an X-Fi ExtremeGamer. Have disabled both CMSS-3D and SVM but am curious about EAX Effects. Enable or disable ?? I have enabled and notice no difference between "on" or "off" but curious as to what others are experiencing ( if anything ). Of course the fact that I notice no difference could be a function of old age as my hearing depletes over time !! cheers -
Hi there When I load the DVD into my drive I get a message along the lines that the AMRA Autoexe has ecountered a problem and has closed. Usual comments re sending a report to Microsoft. The only way I could install the game was to explore the DVD and click the setup.exe. Game installed ok and I have installed the 1.02 patch plus the March DirectX update. However the problem still is there. When I insert the DVD into my drive I get the same message re ARMA Autorun.exe. Only way to load the game is to click the desktop icon. Not a big deal I guess, but wondering if anyone else has experienced this and is there a solution. cheers
-
That kinda makes sense. I might uninstall the game and start again. Only problem is that when I initially installed the game I received the "Autorun.exe has encountered a problem" message and searched the DVD for the setup.exe file. Is that the correct way to manually install i.e. clicking on the setup.exe icon from the DVD ?? When you say " You want to run the game from the desktop icon for running the latest patch" what do you mean by that ? I assume I still have to insert the game DVD into the optical drive, but just ignore the autorun.exe message and use the desktop icon ? cheers
-
Yes I have " The only way I could install the game was to explore the DVD and click the setup.exe. Game installed ok and I have installed the 1.02 patch plus the March DirectX update. " Excuse my ignorance but how do you disable Autorun ? Just curious but how will that help my situation ??

Any ideas or suggestions to assist me guys ?? cheers

Missing xAudio2 file(s) & sound issues
bagman replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Received the game today and will install shortly. I notice in the read me for patch 1.02.58134 it says " DirectX 9 March 2009 is required and should be updated during the patching process automatically " If I am doing a fresh install of the game and install the patch at the same time then I assume I don't need the March DirectX update as stated at the beginning of this post ?? cheers -
I am running ArmA with a 7950GX2 (93.81 drivers ), AMD FX-60 and 2gb of RAM. Renamed the arma.exe to Gothic2.exe and can confirm that SLI is working for me. The AFR vertical bar is approx 90pct loaded once in game. The bar is mostly empty during the loading screens. But as I said the bar is pretty well full during game play, only occasionally "shrinking" to about 70pct every now and then. cheers

Hi there I seem to recall reading somewhere on this forum that V-Sync is enabled by default and that it is advised to force off in your graphic card control panel. Is that true ? Is V-sync on by default ? There are no options in-game for V-Sync and from poking around in the game folder I see no mention either. Just curious cheers
-
Thanks for that, didn't realise. How do you guys find out stuff like that ?? Always amazes me the little bits of extra info some people manage to come up with. Makes life simple for guys like me cheers
-
Thanks guys I'm wondering if I use the Direct3D utility in RivaTuner 2, whether the forced Tripple Buffering would assist ? That way you can avoid tearing but maintain reasonable FPS. Of course that's assuming I do nothing to disable V-sync. cheers mmm..I just realised perhaps that's a mute point. Tearing happens when your FPS exceeds your refresh rate. As the refresh rate on my LCD is 75hz, from reading some posts here your lucky to achieve FPS with Arma anywhere near 75FPS.

Hi there The conventional wisdom when it comes to HDR and Anti-Aliasing is that this combination does not work for Nvidia card users. It's either one or the other. Does this apply to ArmA ?? When enabling AA within game it appears that it's working but not sure about HDR. I note that there is a arma.cfg file within the ARMA folder in My Docs. Within the arma.cfg file there is an entry for HDR that has a value of 8. Can you disable HDR by changing that value to " 0 " ?? cheers
-
Thanks for that. I'm using the 93.81's and having no issues. Might try those 91.47's, though I note they have a Sep 2006 issue date. Which AFR mode are yu using AFR 1 or AFR 2 ? I generally find AFR 2 the better of the 2 and compatible with most games. FYI, I never use nHancer, just create a profile using the nVidia Control Panel cheers
-
Sailindawg....thanks for the reply. I'll certainly try your suggestions and see if any difference. I assume that after altering the HDR value to 16 yu have to make the .cfg file "read only" to make it "stick" ?? I would also like to thank all you guys for replying and offerings tips and advice Greatly appreciated cheers
-
I believe the 8800 series are the only Nvidia cards that let you enable both HDR and AA. I'm running a 7950GX2 so will not work for me. As to the value that I mentioned for HDR lighting, I see your point but to disable HDR do you make the value " 0 " ?? cheers

The DVD version of Arma I have purchased in Australia appears to have been published by 505 Games. Does it really make any difference which patch to install ? I downloaded and installed the International version of the 1.05 patch. When running the installation of the patch it recognises the game as the European Version. I'm wondering now if I should have installed the European/505 Games version rather than the International ?? Installation of the patch seems to be ok as I get a message at the end saying 100% complete. Should I leave the game patched as is or completely uninstall the game and run the European/505 Games patch ? Game seems to be running fine as is. cheers

Hi there Come back to OFP after a long absence and wondering if any of you guys can answer the follwing questions please: In Flashpoint Preferences there is an Option "CPU Benchmark result". What is that for and is higher better for optimal performance ?? Under the "Advanced button - Performance" there is an Option for Total Memory. No matter what I change it to, the change will not stick. Is there anyway to make this happen ?? Seems to default to 256mb. My understandinf is that you should set this to 2/3 of total RAM size to reduce map loading etc. System specs: AMD Athlon 4000+ 7800GTX 2gb DDRSDRAM Is there a .ini/config file that can I can make changes to ?? cheers and thanks in advance for all replies
