    Just deleting those addons may not be wise as others might depend on them and some missions will not work anymore. But you could always try to fix them or try to get fixed versions.

    Those errors indicate broken addons. Eg bas_repair has an error, it does not declare it's dependency on ah64. On my (dedicated) server all missions using the ah64 stopped working because of this. There is a fixed version around though.

    There are rules in games and they are made by the people playing the game. One rule on our server is that we ban cheaters and antisocials. If he got kicked from a server then it could have been a "bad" admin, but it also could have been that he violated some rule on that server. Ultimately, the admin has the final say, it's his server. Don't like it? Play on another server. Don't find a server where you don't get kicked? Pay for your own server. This has nothing to do with the act of motaring bases in cti, i do that myself. But if you don't follow the rules on our server i would at least kick you too, most probably even ban you as i don't believe in kicks. Actually, if this would have happened on my server i would ban you right now, as i know my co-admins are ok and you must have misbehaved to get booted at all and i wouldn't want them seen put down here on the board. And especially for your statement that there are no rules in (war) games. This is so much an antisocial statement, as your are effectively stating that it is ok to flame, insult, cheat, etc in ofp.

    I can get you a number of this ids from my logfile. Whenever an id is used by 20+ different nicks in a few days you can be sure it is a pirated id.... **** definitively is, although there are other ids used more often... Your other id is not in my logfiles though.

    Yeah, we played the sarugao two island version before, that's why we wanted it back Also, it would be cool if each team starts on a different island, in our games they started on the same. This would make attacking the enemy difficult if enough air defenses and would require some different tactics.

    Actually you don't need the gcc (or uudecode, gunzip or md5sum for that matter) if you get the (statically compiled) server and tolower file from someone else. The server file should already be unpacked, the only thing you need is the tolower program. If you are not willing or able to install the gcc i can send it to you.

    Server admins, what are you doing!?!

    Before i enter into a discussion about "high pings" i'd like to know what is a "high ping". We got players from the other side of the world playing on our server and i don't mind those players having a ping of 300. But we do mind bandwidth a bit, in ofp a player with low badwidth can desync the game and make it unplayable for everyone else. Although we most of the times give those players a chance. People who come onto the server without even saying hi, hello or something else, or people not responding when talked to are another matter. Those are likely candidates for a kick. We want teamplay, in coop or adversarial games, and people who do not even try to show some willingness to play nice with others are most of times just ruining the game for everyone else. Public players flaming regulars (or even other public players) will get kicked most probably and depending on how much they misbehaved they may get banned too. This game is supposed to be fun for everyone, we don't need to play with people who try to take away the fun from everyone. Sometimes we have games for members and regulars only where we will lock the server, but sometimes people come on in those short moments between missions when the server is open. We will tell them to leave and kick them if they don't answer or leave. So you see, there are lots of reason why someone may get kicked, most of them will not happen to people with just basic social skills. And most of the times it is not because of ping. Although we won't start the game with someone whose ping doesn't drop below 1000 or something high like this. And people with such a crappy internet connection that the fastest server for them is still in the 4 digit ping range can not demand to play on any server. Same for those antisocial players that get kicked everywhere because of their behaviour. If someone lets them play on their server, good for them. If they don't like getting kicked everywhere they should get their own server. Then they can make the rules there.

    1) Copy win installation over to linux (res, users and worlds folder and flashpoint.cfg should be sufficient) 2) Download linux dedicated server 3) Run the server package 4) Configure the start script 5) Run the server Well, thats kinda short, but i think everything is documented in more detail in these boards. Kegetys made a batch file that copies only files relevant for the server . Also, for configuring the config files there are a lot of threads.

    I think Winter Nogojev from Kegetys has this and it is scripted, so it should be possible to put something like that into ecp and get it working on all islands.
  12. Yes, and i also have shot beyond my field of view with a tank. Afaik the view limit for ai is exactly as the players. You can notice this very easily in mp on rts3 missions. Build an aa unit and let one other player build one too. Set your view distance to 2000m and let the other player set his to 900m. Put both aa units next to each other. Check when each unit reports incoming planes... I always set it to at least 2k and wouldn't go down. They can't see farther than you can. But they can shoot you if you get reported to them by other ai. But you can do that too, if players/ai on your side report enemy vehicles. We just did a kind of training doing this last week.

    Ecp released!

    Got some questions/remarks, some of them from the ofp usenet group: -does disabling scripts in the settings.sqs prevent them from being run at all? Which would be the most variable/processing-power heavy scripts? Some guy named Communique has troubles saving/restoring in mp because of too many variables/scripts. -would it be possible to get a drs with wss sounds only mod as a replacement for the "old" drs? BTW: who does drs nowadays? PitViper? Zayfod? -Would it be possible to ask modmakers like finmod and csla to somehow make their mods ecp compatible? I always thought that ecp was aiming to be the one-and-all replacement config, so it would make sense to me to have all other mods as "plugins" in it so you could eg enable csla and finmod at once. So that every mod could be used like the mods that are already in ecp and could be turned on or off individially to combine them with others. It's a real pity that you have to restart servers now to change mods and can't combine mods because of some kind of rivalry between modmakers. Sadly i have read in the finmod and csla threads that go into the direction that they probably won't do this as they want that people play "their mod only with combining it with other stuff"

    Why do you turn it back after ofp? Just leave aperture size at a small value or turn it off altogether. I don't think you need it at all with your graphics card.

    You can't set it for the server, but you can set it for missions. Just put a line with<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">setviewdistance 2000 into the init.sqs of the mission. This means you have to edit the missions first...

    Did you use the installer for llaumas sky? Do you have win xp? Try installing llaumas sky manually, that is depbo data.pbo and data3d.pbo, replace files, pbo them again and see if that works.

    You can put them all in your addons folder or make one modfolder and put them all there or put them where they would go by default. It's really up to you. They work like any other does too. If you have the addons in place you still need the rts3 missions. Start the game, select a rts3 mission and you are ready to go. BTW: i had some problems on our server. It wouldn't start rts missions when i started the server with -mod=gdt;rts3 but it worked with -mod=rts3;gdt. I guess there are still some dependency errors in there

    Actually, the only files that are different seem to be bas_soar (where we use v2 and RTS uses v1.1), bas_soar185 and bas_lbs185 (where we use the versions with fixed dependencies done by Killswitch) and the stt_klr, where i changed requiredVersion to 185.

    What the heck is that saying? Well, just unzip the zip file, put the folder into your ofp dir and then choose one of the several config.bin that are inside the bin_versions folder and copy it to the GMR_exploMOD/bin folder. There are different versions of this mod that allow you to use gmr mod as a standalone, and in combination with inqs weapon pack or other mods.

    Change the name of the computer so that it does not contain hyphen or underscore and does not start with a number. Also check network settings, eg turn off firewall and check dns.

    V.1.96 beta

    I can understand that some people only play the latest official version, ie 191, and some want to play the newest version, ie 196. So, there really should only be 2 versions out there. But delaying the linux version for at least 2 weeks hasn't helped either, as linux admins are forced to use an older version now. Making it a total of three versions used simultanously. I guess the latest beta patch will be made final when it actually is considered final, as it was the case with 191, reducing ofp versions in the wild to one again. And i am not in a hurry there. Better a good final version than a hasty and faulty one. But i am not happy about the linux server getting delayed at least two weeks. But for those that use the rest of the version numbers... well, i heard some admins couldn't upgrade to newer versions because of league rules... but that's more the fault of those leagues, and not bis' fault, i'd say. If someone wanted to run a 130 server (or even an 150) that isn't bis fault either. The only thing i would say is bis fault is the delay of the linux server. A little more info on this would be cool... are there serious problems or is pepca on vacation ( )?

  24. I would not recommend reinstalling it first and then uninstalling the old one, as by doing this you will most likely change registry to the new drive first and then remove them altogether. I'd rather copy the installation to H and then uninstall the old one and reinstall into H. Or even better: just move it to H and then use regedit to search for the old path and replace with the new one. IIRC it only shows up one or two times in the registry at all, depending on whether you have goty or cwc+res.

    When you used the old editorupdate for missions you needed it to play too, so i guess it's the same with this one.
