I don't cheat. And even if i did you couldn't ban me as i play on my own server only. So only i could ban myself But do as you wish... I just wanted to make a point: banning by ip is pointless in many/most cases. Look at my ips, not one was used two times. I can reconnect in 1 or 2 seconds. If i WERE a cheater you would have to ban my whole ip range. And then the next. And two seconds later the next. Until you have all the ips of the largest german isp banned. And then you will have a good part of the community banned. If you are so afraid of cheaters then put a password on your server and play only with people you trust. MSpencer: guess what, most american and british players coming to my server don't speak german either. And although we speak mostly german in ts, when we have english(-speaking) players on we try to translate at least the on-topic stuff to english. But not every german speaks english. Do you want to hold it against them? How many americans speak german? russin: the cheats have nothing to do with "the source going public". I am not sure what you are talking about, the config and the addons have been "public" for a long time. And executable never was public but there are hacked executables going around. And there are cheats for all games, even for those where no "source has been released". Cheat programmers are often little geniuses. They don't need "source" when they have (dis)assembler.

As i said, i checked logfiles. I NEVER had the same ip in many many month, as far as my logfile dates back. And you can ban my ip range as much as you want as i have my own server and will play only there anyway. I just wanted to demonstrate that banning ips and ip ranges is pointless. If you really want to ban my ip-range, it is 80.138.85.x right now. You might check into editing the routing tables, might be easier for what you want to do. If i really were into that stuff i would just dynamically block the ip of the cheater based on his name or ofp id. But i am not. Oh, and as you are into collecting subnets to block, here are the ips i used in the last month: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">80.138.81.x 80.138.82.x 80.138.83.x 80.138.84.x 80.138.85.x 80.138.85.x 80.138.86.x 80.138.86.x 80.138.87.x 80.138.87.x 80.138.88.x 80.138.89.x 217.229.129.x 217.229.130.x 217.229.131.x 217.229.131.x 217.229.134.x 217.229.137.x 217.229.138.x 217.229.139.x 217.229.142.x 217.229.143.x 217.238.63.x 217.83.192.x 217.83.193.x 217.83.194.x 217.83.194.x 217.83.195.x 217.83.202.x 217.83.202.x 217.83.205.x 217.83.206.x 217.83.206.x 217.83.207.x 217.83.207.x I checked before x'ing out the last number, EACH ONE was used only once. NKVD: no, i don't play much. Only a few hours nearly every day since ofp v1.0 is out. Oh, and before that other games. But i don'T play on just ANY server. Strangely i met cheaters in other games seldom either. Maybe you guys are just playing with the wrong type of people...

Afaik the respawn for resistance is called respawn_guer and not respawn_guerrila. Regarding the server, our new provider is a bit troublesome, so little changes to the server os take bloody ages cause i have to wait for some admin there to do stuff, which usually takes an hour at least Our server should hopefully be back online soon.
-
Ok, i replaced the respawn_resistance marker with one called respawn_guer. I uploaded the new version to our server and into Medicus downloads folder. The link in Medicus post should work.
-
Thanks for the hint, Goeth. I am not sure how much online time Medicus will get in the next weeks so i will fix it for him if he doesn't do it.

Yeah, block my ip. I get a new one in about one second and it will not be the same. I checked my logs i never had the same ip twice. Ban my ip range and you ban about 95%-98% of all gamers from my country. In other words: in many cases ip bans are WORTHLESS. OTOH i haven't seen a single cheater yet.

IMHO it is best to find a server where the regulars speak your language and have a voicecom like teamspeak or ventrilo running, because i think for good coop voicecom is necessary. I also think that you will know really fast of the style of play on any given server is to your liking or not. Some people WANT to play in a "running around and shoot at everything" style. Nothing wrong with that if all enjoy. Others will kick players that open fire without being ordered by their commander. You have to find a server that handles things the way you like them. I think this will not be a problem, as most servers tend to be more on the serious/coordinated/teamplay side of things in my experience.

My point in getting your own server was not that i think it would be cool to have more empty servers, but "to make the ofp community a better place" by creating a WELL RUN server. I have played on a few servers where insults and other antisocial behaviour was the norm. Admins did not intervene or even behaved that way themselves. I played there exactly ONCE. I do sympathize with the people that live in areas where no broadband is available, i was there too a few years ago. And we do let modem players play too sometimes, but not necessarily in cti. The problem is more with the bandwidth, we let people from the other side of the world play if their bandwidth is ok, even if their ping tends to be a bit higher. Although darkpeace formulated it rather harsh at times he has a point. There is no RIGHT to play on a given server, it is a privilege. If we know someone as a nice guy we might let him play regardless of his connections. People that don't even type a greeting when joining the server and don't answer when spoken too are likely to be kicked, regardless of ping. No one wants solos running around and annoy everybody else who is trying to work as a team. And i can't really understand modem players that do not connect to servers that are near them but to servers that are on the other side of the world. The least they can do is play somewhere where their connection is as little a hindrance to everyone else as possible. Everything else is equal to stating something like "i don't care about YOUR gaming experience, i only care about MINE".

I went through the textures yesterday and did not find any with a higher aspect ratio than 4. Are you sure that aspect ratio error is caused by this island (v1.1). I will try to make a test mission and test it on the server. Edit: crap, i checked the wrong island. Damn, i shouldn't do stuff on anyone elses computer without access to this forum Ok, i'll try to check normandy tomorrow

I have a hardware problem on my client for a few days now, so i can't really promise how fast i can test it, but i will try to.

Go there and vote yourself admin. Even cheaper for you than running your own server. Can't speak for all servers, but my server and those of friendly clans don't seemt to be that empty most of the time. And that although i am in the process of reconfiguring the installed os and have to take the server down sometimes. Must be some funny serves you play on. We do seek opponents and not victims, else we could play against ai. And we don'T play to insult or brag, but to have fun. And we do not tolerate insults on our server, be it from regulars or guests. The childish behaviour you experience on servers seems to reflect your childish postings here, eg insinuating "everyone else insults hp and brags about their super fast internet connection". I have dsl for 5 years or something and everyone else here has it too. Nothing to brag about it is just NORMAL. And we PAY for that too. I guess you don't want to pay for anything, you just want to HAVE or TAKE. That is true, faster connections take up more bandwidth. But that is beside the point, as we PAY to have more bandwidth and so we can chose how to spend it. If we pay much, as we do noe, we just rented a bigger and faster server, we want to have some return of investment by NOT LAGGING in the game. Yeah, like ANYBODY reads the server messages at all. And your comments about girlfriend and penis sizes shows how mature you are. I would ban you on my server for comments like this, such insulting and immature conduct is not tolerated there. Again, this tells a lot about the servers you seem to play on and about yourself. I am getting to believe more and more that you don't get kicked because of your ping but because of your antisocial behaviour. I just read in the forum of a friendly clan that members were donating money for one member that couldn't afford dsl anymore, so they could keep on playing with him. I can't really believe someone would do the same for you. To use your kind of speak, maybe you should get a girlfriend yourself, mine is the reason i can' play as much ofp as i want to. Helps to get a perspective for ofp in comparison to the things that are really important. I guess DM has enough of a name in the community that people will let him play. And even if not, he can't DEMAND it. He made lots of addons (although i would have mentioned other guys from BAS way before him), other put all their free time in running a server and PAYING for it. Making addons doesn't make him morally superior to anyone in the community. Actually, the way he writes in this forum, using a style like yours, it doesn't surprise me you pick DM as an example. This again shows your lack of respect for your fellow gamers and how crappy the servers you play on seem to be. Please don't come to my server. If there are really spoiled children in this community then you should become their spokesman. It's a long time i have read such a childish and generally disrespctful and antisocial posting towards/about the community in this forum.

If you still got the registry keys on your old computer you can just copy the ofp folder over to the new computer and install the registry keys and ofp should work. If you don't have your old installation anymore you will have to wait for codemasters though...

You can read about it in A&M:C.

Why don't get a non changing "ip" like dyndns? BTW: Gamespy is crappy spyware, i wouldn't install it, rather use the all-seeing eye...
-
Get the one from General Barron, it's the newest of the bunch. The one from Kegetys should be fine too though.

Did you try searching the forum at all? SEARCH FOR WOBBLE

For MP there is no need for a standard addons pack, as you will always use the addons the servers you play on use and those will always use the addons that their mission(maker)s use. And since there is OFP Watch there is no need for a standardized addon pack in MP anymore, as any server can host exactly the addons it uses in the correct version and every player can get them installed AUTOMATICALLY, without any hassle (if the server admins use modfolders, that is). For SP... there have been ideas like this before, but there never came something from it. As there are addon makers making some existing addon again cause they don't like something about the existing one or want to improve on a certain aspect, so are some mission makers in favour of this addon and the other of that one. For SP just get the addons you need for the mission you download and put it into a modfolder and delete after playing the mission. Or keep your addon collection up to date manually.

Yes, you are right, i did some network sniffing some time ago and saw that too. I mixed this thread up with another one, i was more in the line of the "players changing/faking player id on the server" while this is more about "players using warez id/keygenerators to install the game". I agree to this too. I have three original keys actually, two cwc and one goty

It seems to depend on the RATIO of the textures, some chips can handle a higher ratio than others. I noticed that a version which fixed up to a certain level of ratios (highest ratio used was 16) and worked on someone elses machine did not work on ours, i had to fix up to the next ratio level (highest ratio used was 8 as 16 did not work on our server). See my post here

I would guess they use a proxy that just alters the packets containing the plaintext key sent to the server.

There are two kind of locked games: passworded and locked. If the server is locked (which you only can do for one mission, at the time of the next mission selection the server is open again) you can not join. If the server is passworded (it has a lock symbol in the internal browser) you need the password. Search for the server name in google and visit the server site. Maybe the password is there. Or try to contact an admin in ts2 or icq/msn/aim. For missing addons i would get OFP Watch.

This is not so much a dedicated servers issue as an graphics card issue. As dedicated servers have crappy onboard graphic chips most of the time it affects them most. You can open up the addons and replace all textures with too high a ratio with different ones that don't have such a high ratio. I did that myself with an older version and it worked on our (old) server (which had a particular crappy graphics chip ). Didn't try the new version for this bug yet. But if it is still there i could fix it for you and give you a download if you don't want to do it yourself. Might take a few days though as i have a little hw problem at the moment.

There are some warez ids floating around, you can find them by looking for ids which have a great number of nicks to them. Sometimes people just let a friend use their id, sometimes those guys play at the same time on the same server. As the id is calculated from the cd key you can be sure that there is something wrong when ids turn up multiple times. I have spoken to some of the players with duplicate ids on my server and always at least one of them did not have an original ofp.

Actually, i am talking about a flashpoint server running under linux here, but any experience with windows servers/clients would be fine too, as i have heard that some 32bit applications do work with 64bit linux and some won't. I guess i will test it anyway, but every time spent working on the 64bit linux is obviously downtime for my server, as this is the only 64bit system i can get my hands on. And i would really hate to take the offline for some time, only to have someone telling me AFTERWARDS "i tried that before and could have told you". Ex-Ronin: what have SATA drivers to do with that? Are they important even when you do not use SATA drives and are running linux? Am i missing something?

resistance needs to be west but how?
benu replied to BoweryBaker's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
After you have finished the mission you could open the mission.sqm and change their SIDE values. Or you could try giving their group a west leader and remove him after the game starts.
