  1. For what it's worth, reinstalling ArmA 2 completely solved whatever the issue is but I was never able to pinpoint the cause.
  2. Here are the links, will also try to figure out where to post them on the wiki http://ifile.it/yovakw7/arma2.RPT http://ifile.it/hkqwrz7/ArmA2OA.RPT http://ifile.it/aw9f2gy/arma2server.RPT
  3. I've got the files, not sure where to upload them on the wiki. Never worked with a wiki before. Thanks.
  4. Update... so I tried "RESUMING" a save I had in the first boot camp mission and it loaded, but if I try to load anything new (single player, multiplayer), I get a crash to desktop. Only thing I've changed since I first booted up Arma 2 on my laptop are my graphics driver and added RAM (went from 4 gig to 12 gig). I used MSCONFIG to force the RAM back down to 4 gig but same results (resume worked, anything new didn't). Rolled my graphics driver back to version 8.17.12.6776. My card has 1.5 gig of RAM. Thanks.
  5. Whenever I try to connect to a server or start my own, I can choose my slot, but once the game tries to actually start, I crash to desktop. I saw the post to email certain files to get tech help but can't find those files with a search. I have arma 2 1.09 and OA 1.59 Asus G53JW laptop core i7 q740 CPU 12 gig RAM Geforce GTX 460M driver 8.17.12.7061 Windows 7 Home Premium with service pack 1 Not sure what other info I can offer. Thanks. Sorry about that, so any time the game engine tries to start up, it crashes. Thanks.

    AI improvements for Warfare

My friend and I play this as a co-op game against enemy AI. We were messing with the ACE version of this but there was a lot in there we didn't dig. But one thing the ACE version does is have the enemy use helicopters. Is there some way to get the AI improvements without the rest that we don't enjoy? Been searching through this forum but couldn't find anything. Thanks.

    Ofp moments in gameplay

One of the best moments had to be the first time my friends and I linked up for a co-op game. So cool to watch a friend set up with a LAW while I lay down vehicle mines and then lay waste to a convoy. Another great moment was when we were all driving around in a Bradley and suddent turned a corner to find a Russian checkpoint. My brother at the controls decided there wasn't time to stop, retreat, and plan an attack, so he just drove right through. The enemy UAZ with 2 people in it went flying. There's always the first time someone aims the mortar straight up. And of course, all the crazy escapes. Playing one mission, trying to escape in a jeep, pursued by T72s. My friend at the wheel. In our panicked driving, we put the car into a tree and have to go by foot. Figure we're done for. Tanks open fire, we both lose our legs. See a yellow sedan a short distance away and crawl to it. We somehow make it and drive off, weaving through tank fire, making it back to base. But we decide to avenge our legs when we see a helocopter at the base. We crawl into it, lift off, and track down the T72s. Great stuff.

    Multiplayer

I second the thought of only server side scripting. My friend made some missions with the editor and he said the scripting, especially when it comes to multiplayer, just gets ugly. I also support saving mid-mission in multiplayer. Along with that, I wish there was a way to respawn in co-op multiplayer. Maybe if surviving players get to a check point, all dead players get to respawn (would make it full to pull for your squadmate even after you were out). Something, I don't really know. I know this would take away from some of the hard core feel, but a lot of these types of games offer co-op but then not offer options that could make co-op more fun and playable. Ever try to do a really long mission in co-op, you get 75% of the way through and then get killed? Ever had to do that 10 times in a row? It stinks and there should be a way around it. My friend made a fun mission for us in co-op and really made it a challenge. That was fun, but we hated having to constantly redo the first 5 challenges to get to the big finish. So now we don't play long missions which often offer more interesting objectives.

    64 bit ?

My understanding is that the current architecture can go much higher than 3 gig (someone said the P4 can go to 10gig). The physical construction with the .13 die is starting to max out around 3 gig (I think). I heard that AMD and Intel are getting ready to a .10 die or a .09 die but I'm not sure.

    64 bit ?

Personally, I don't see why they wouldn't. Hopefully it won't be a complete ordeal to recompile the code into 64bit compatible files. Also, I don't think you'd need new hardware, but it would help to have 64bit compatible software. I think Microsoft already has running 64bit versions of their OS, that shouldn't be a big deal. But if not, the AMD chip runs 32bit code just fine. I might wait a little to get a 64bit chip, but my next CPU will definitely be a 64bit AMD unless something very weird happens

Two years on, how have your feeling evolved?

I first caught wind of this game when the demo came out in the US. My friends and I had grown up playing an RPG called Twilight 2000. Operation Flashpoint seemed to be the closest thing to Twilight 2000 on the computer. Played the demo, was floored, rushed out to get the game as soon as it hit the shelves. The problem was getting my friends to get the game as well so we could play online as a group (and rekindle some of that Twilight 2000 magic). Long story short, last week the last of us got the game and we played our first online session together (and we were terrible). So two years after release, we finally all got together and had a great time. There's no doubt this game will hold our attention until OFP2.

    Problem hosting

bump... I know it may not seem like a big deal since most people have resistance, but the majority in my group do not. Has anyone heard about Direct X 9 incompatibilities with the original 1.46 version? Switching to Direct X 8.1 allows me to host again, but if games start requiring 9 to play it might make things tough. Thanks.
  13. Out of my gaming group, I'm the only one with Resistance. Can anyone recommend some of the better, older missions that only require 1.46? Looking for Co-Op missions. Thanks.
