    I think a good but hard way of doing it would be to first set the ballistics as close to the real LAW as possible, then draw a new sight with matching numbers and lines.

    About the armour thickness of the T-72: Thickness is not everything. IIRC, the front has the same resistance against HEAT as ~900 mm RHA. I think the resistance agains APFFDS rounds is a bit less. (armour-piercing-fin-folding-discarding-sabot?)

    I can see how a realistic anti AQ mod would be: Watch B-52s bomb a mountain for days. When you carefully examine the mountain, you find: 3 dropped Bhurkas A rifle from ww1, not working. A couple of sheep, very dead. 2 fake beards Some sheep droppings and lots of rocks. By using standard military math you claim at least 3 shoes + 1 AK + 2 sheep = 312 confirmed kills and 2 fake beards + pile of shit + rocks = 200+ possible kills. Your local allies, suddenly very rich, are very sure that no enemies escaped to Pakistan.

    A great article about the horrors of war, and how it is hidden from the home front and ignored by the rear echolons. It is a bit long, but is worth the time.

    More realism.

    Here is how to make the game more realistic: 1. Fill a bathtub half full of cold mud. 2. Sit in the bathtub while playing OFP. 3. Piss in the tub for good measure. 4. Use shower to simulate rain. 5. Ask yourself why you are playing OFP when you could have been in a nice warm and dry place.

    Screw the islands! Instead of an infinitly large ocean around the borders, would it be possible to surround the map with a infinitly large forrest/desert/farmland/thundra? Just think about desert island without the water. Could be the site of some huge desert battles.

    I think the An-28 should be added for the russian side. It is ideal as a jumpship (have done 23 jumps from one) because it can take 20 skydivers (12-15 soldiers with equipment) to altitude in a short time from a short and rugged airstrip. It also has a tailgate for easy exit. An-28

    Rant from a riflemans/radio operators pov

    Assistant machinegunner Bob (the shitties job in the squad IMHO) is commanded by Dave, the machinegunner, who is commanded by cpl Elvis, who is in charge of the MG team. cpl Elvis gets his orders from squadleader sgt Satan. Sgt Satan is giving orders only to Elvis, rifleman nr 2, rifleman nr 4 and the 84mm cannon gunner. Much easier to command  4 soldiers, than trying to keep track of 8-11 headless chicken on crack.  In some situations, like fire and movement, sgt Satan only needs to give orders to 2 groups, the riflemen, led by himself, and cpl Elvis, in charge of the MG. The cannon team stays in the back until neaded.  That is 3 levels of command, just within the rifle squead (in reality it is often a bit more fluid than that) This would make it possible to command a platoon by giving commands to just 3 squadleaders instead of 12 quite stupid characters in todays half-platoon. (I know that Spinor has made a good way to command a platoon) Then there is the radio bit. I wish the comms system had been more like a realworld radio net, that is, push-to-talk, only one on the net at the time ( may free up some bandwith). Maybe this would make the direct speaking more useful. Only the squadleaders and the platoon commanders should be on the company net (Normally a radio operator is needed to keep the workload of the commander, but in this game I think it would only complicate things) . Of course giving radios to every teammember is not realistic (exept maybe in some specops units), but I think it is needed to make the game playable, and to avoid total chaos. (It is not realistic to have every team member carry 11 kilos of Vietnam era radio technology). This is what I think is really needed in OFP. Of course fancy units from all over the world, new graphics, more terrain is good, but is doesn't change the fact that the command system in OFP today is really not usefull for commanding anything larger than a patrol. I know that many of theese things are nearly impossible to script...but anyway this is where I think OFP is lacking.

    War and games, your opinion?

    I can think about a few things that may make the game less pleasant. In general it should make the soldiers in the mud look more miserable. -Add mud. Lost of mud on soldiers vehicles and equipment. If you are in the fields, it usually rains. -Add a new animation: Soldier trying to keep warm by standing in the middle of his clothes, to keep the cold and wet fabric from touching the skin. -Randomised height, face and BMI. (Saw this in another thread somewhere.) -Add a new way for soldiers to hold their rifle. Kind of a "lazy ready", rifle horisontal across his stomack. Looking at the ground a few meters in front of him. -As the article said, in every occurrence of armed conflict there have been far more injured than killed parties. This is something that should be reflected if OFP. The medic should not be able to heal at all, only to keep injuries from getting worse. Â -More "wounded" textures that are simple, ugly and not cartoonish.

    I think the comm system should encourage (what do you call the rules about how to say things on the net? RTX?) Maybe giving the other side in MP games the possibillity to listen to radio traffic (some kind of limited EW capability) would force players to use the radio in a way more similar to the real world.
