you cannot destroy a church right? Would be a difficult kill then if a sniper is hiding in a church and overseeing your troops...

Sure, a OFP 2 or something similar will be released.. and now a new type of game is released more similar games will be released as well. But I do think that it will take at least 3 years before OFP 2 will be released... they will surely start over from scratch... and a game as complex as this type of genre takes long to make. gr.> arjen

When that tool is released to the public or even to some MOD makers who would like to execute this idea.. we could have large maps in a glance. What i am talking about is this: if we can get ahold of the file encoding or structure for maps we could write a tool which can read images representing area maps. We could then place objects on that map according to the colours found in the image. And we could use the official tool to finish up the work.

only for short take-off distance or a runway with high objects at the end like trees or buildings

they do not DENY anyone who is creating a good quality MOD. You just have to show some done work. And if you are a good modeller needing the modelling tool you can demo some work with 3D Max as well..

When you bought this game you agreed with the license going with it. Eventhough most of you guys didn't read it at all. I didn't do that either. But I'm sure that that agreement does not say anything about future upgrades or tools that BIS has to release. You can always discuss if it is a wise decision to not distribute it right away to a very broad public. Put the otherway around has allot of good points as well. Now you can expect some kind of quality of the products delivered using these tools. Don't cry! Be a gentleman and give some real arguments if you don't agree with a choice that BIS made. They do not have any obligations to us!

and what i meant with "read" in my previous post is: reading the value in a script so that it can be used with some kind of logic.

okay.. what i ment is this: when you add a marker to the map.. by double clicking you can type in a caption or label... I would like to read that label, and as far as I know that is not yet possible. You can read the type but not what is typed with it.

Wat do you think of this? I would like to see the possibility of reading the caption of any marker placed by the user. For example: Select a type of marker using the command enter (with reload, weapon on back etc. not sure how it is called precisly) and then switch to the map and place that type of marker with some additional information. For example a platoon ID or section ID... For example an arrow would mean advance at all costs, a target marker will mean take this piece of land (town) .. and a different marker could mean travel to this place and the label would indicate how and who. For example: CH4-S12; chopper type 4 (blackhawk), Section 12. Or bring supplies to some place, and indicate to some Section to rearm there.. the AI is smart enough to handle battle's on its own.. like fighting itself to  a pickup point. It would make it much easier to create a Commanding type of player which has controll over the whole battlefield. And if you attomate the actions of this player it becomes a strategic target as well I hope BIS reads this request... gr.> arjen
