Funnily enough, some of my colleagues have been bugging me to do the Canadian version of the Leopard 2A6M, and so far I've been quite tempted to make a start on it, the only problem is that I don't really have enough free time these days to do one from scratch, so I'll have to resort to asking one of the more skilled 3D modellers out there if I can possibly use one of their base models as a template - giving them the usual credit in big friendly letters in the readme when it's done. I've had a look at a few these past few days and the one I like the most was the version that Bionic did, not only does the detail look spot on, but even my old computer still gets a pretty good fps rate when there's a lot of 'em on-screen at once. I'll ask him for permission first, before I try anyone else and see what he says. So here's hoping..... -- Archangel

Hi Folks, I'm pleased to announce the release of our AH-1Z pack, now updated to version 1.01. (Full sized pic here http://www.avmg30.dsl.pipex.com/ah1z_pack.jpg ) Description: This addon provides you with 4 new AH-1Z SuperCobras, each of these are equipped with AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles on the wingtips, engine startup sounds and a basic flare / missile spoofing script based on an older version done by BAS for Operation Flashpoint back in 2004. Features included: - 4 versions of the AH-1Z including the original USMC low vis grey version, NATO/ROW Olive drab, the Sentinel 3 tone low vis grey custom skin and a RACS version in desert beige/mustard. - Each AH-1Z is armed with all the original weapons from the stock version of the game, plus a pair of AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles on the outermost pylons. - New engine sound effects and warnings. - Slightly reduced the chance of complete engine failure and increased the chance of damage to the control surfaces. - A very basic simulation of the AN/AAR-47 Missile Approach Warning System, plus flare countermeasures. - A much more robust flight model based on the fine work done by Heinbloed. - New to version 1.01 Now uses Extended Eventhandlers - This makes the AH-1Z pack compatible with 6th Tracers and the Dynamic Viewdistance mod. Hi everyone, Version 1.01 of the Sentinel Infantry Pack has just been released. This addons provides a comprehensive set of Western style Mercenary/Special Ops units in 7 camouflage types that are ideal for use in team vs team games or with the Warfare game type. New with version 1.01: - Fixed goggle transparency bug. - Units come equipped with a variety of headwear including field caps, bandanas (Thanks to ObmaR & Rellikki), boonie hats, helmets and berets. - Added Independent (side = TGuerrila) units in all 7 variants. These were added by request as many people E-Mailed me wanting to use these units as the Mercs in the popular 'Quarantine' custom mission. You can find a full-sized preview pic Here. Hehehehe. Don't worry the readme is a bit long and full of legal mumbo-jumbo so most people fall asleep before they get to that point, I'll add the features list near the beginning in future. I'm glad you like them - we've been using similar ones in VBS1 and OFP for the past 3 years and I've always wanted to have them in ArmA, albeit with a better 3D model and now we do thanks to BIS. As for the Alien mod thing, a simple work around in the meantime - if you're comfortable working with all those configs - is to scroll down to where it reads '' Class Helicopter: Air '' and just delete the line in that reads "class EventHandlers {};" near the end of the entry. Just remember not to touch the other one in the next entry that has the scripting for the tripods.sqs and escape.sqs. Â Once you save, repack and repeat for each one, it should work perfectly. Hi again BiggDogg. Yep, I've found what's causing the problem - instead of using an external reference, the creator of the ArmAliens Mod V4.0 has copied and pasted the entire Helicopter base class (including an eventhandler entry) into each config of his UFO's - a bit of an odd way of doing it and messy 'cos this will cause a few problems for any other helicopter addons that rely on custom eventhandlers. It's easily fixed and those UFO configs could do with some optimising, but I don't want to muck about with someone elses mod without their permission. Â The only way I could fix it from my side would be to create an entire base class from scratch i.e. Air -> SEN_Helicopters -> SEN_AH1Z 'etc', which I would prefer to avoid as some 3rd party addons (such as DMSmokeEffects and a custom rotor damage script I use) recognise the helicopter class and add relevant features to all units in that tree. In the meantime I'll see if I can get in touch with the author of the ArmAliens mod and see if he's okay with me fixing his configs. Â Regards. -- Archangel. -

Hi BiggDogg. Sounds like it might be conflicting with another addon, they're an extension of the default BIS AH1W class, so if you've got any addons that add any eventhandlers (especially init ones) to the default AH1W class, then that would override the extended eventhandlers used on these ones. Â As a result the scripts that add the textures to the missiles wont' initialize. A more simpler cause could be that you're using an older version of the Extended Eventhanlders, or that they're missing altogether, I've not tested these with older versions of the XEH so I don't know what effect that would have. Hi everyone. Now that I've finished the SuperCobra Pack, I'm turning my attention back to getting a new version of our Infantry pack out fairly soon, with a fix for the goggle transparency issue. (Topic and info on the original version can be found here) Sentinel Infantry Pack v 1.00 I've noticed that there are a few addons out already that have units wearing field caps, bandanas and woolly hats - which would be ideal just to add a bit of variety to our own units. I've tried making my own from scratch, but sadly my 3D modelling skills aren't quite up to the task yet - I'm still learning O2 at the moment as, sadly our original 3D modeller has had to leave us recently due to his wife falling ill. Does anyone here have any links, or would know who I could contact and seek permission from, just to be able to get my hands on the p3d models of those and include them in our own addon. Â I've tried E-Mailling two authors a few weeks ago, but as of yet I haven't had any reply. Many thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer on this. Regards. -- Archangel

Good news everyone! I've updated the AH-1Z pack to version 1.01 Only a few changes made, including a slight tweak to the config file so that it uses the Extended Eventhandlers - making it compatible with a lot of the newer 3rd party mods in circulation, plus a minor adjustment to the insidesoundcoef to make things louder for all those people using the HiFi sound mod. Hi Everyone, This is Archangel of the Sentinel Team aka Cpt. Robertson. Some of the older users on this forum might vaguely remember the last thing I worked on, which was the 'Realistic Armored Units Pack' for OFP back in 2002 along with my colleague AaronAsh. Well, I've decided to come out of semi-retirement and post the release of the new infantry pack we've been working on for the past month or so. It's basically just a generic BLUEFOR soldier model with a mixture of headgear types and it comes in 7 camouflage textures - Good for representing Professional Mercenaries/PMC's and Special Forces units:- Full sized pics can be found here:- http://www.avmg30.dsl.pipex.com/sentinel_inf1.jpg http://www.avmg30.dsl.pipex.com/sentinel_inf2.jpg *Green (similar to the old US Army olive drab) *Black (As used by SWAT teams and Special Forces) *Woodland (The old Woodland Camo we know and love) *Desert (A fictional desert camouflage that's a mixture of the digital one the USMC use and the Canadian forces currently in Iraq) *Forest (Again this is a digital camouflage that's based off the one the Canadian's use but slightly darker and with a bit more brown added into it) *Urban (A fictional Urban Digital Camouflage that works surprisingly well in twilight/low-vis conditions too.) *Arctic (This isn't much use right now, but once someone releases a good winter/arctic island it will be). This pack isn't really meant to be something groundbreaking or special, but it does add a bit more variety in Team vs Team games and we tend to use this in our Warfare sessions as we've supported all the unit types used in it. It's signature signed and can be used on public servers, plus it doesn't use any 3rd party addons and at a download size that's just shy of 25MB, it's well worth a look - as I'd love some feedback on what everyone thinks of - what is now my first release in 6 years or something, lol.
