Hello everyone, A lightbulb switch just went off in my head. This is a rare occurance so do bare with me. Loads of us all play Multiplayer on ArmA, but all use sperate forums and networks to organise games, or just sometimes randomly join servers as we go. However wouldn't it be cool, if you have say 50-60 people that you could just chat to and organise a game on a Saturday afternoon?? I have used XFire for about a year and it has been absolutley mint. So I suggest that I keep a list of usernames in this thread, of people who play ArmA and are up for having a big community of ArmA players on there XFire account. I will have a set list below that I will update, if you guys who fancy it could post on below with your username I will edit the original post. -------- List: LtGriff ewaar riflesspitfire 22infamous usidirtydeeds easycompanykerry khpauld 2ltandersson d41k4n scotia123 29thwaffensspilot jonny0blah Viper23rd snafu89 noraf dashnaw dodgster00 DarkOmen1 Coldkilla9 22ckclaw kingnl Knight31 gunney00 joebi1kenobi raynorhiarro pvtparts10119 lanboy666 weegee101 fabiantronc crozon rifleslcplcharlie dale0404 bigfootdave johnbinkowski1 jeza123c BillyBud alefor lagussi Blackhawk2008 ptolemaios nesco121 peterbullet gunja975 blackmetaltemplar bladebarrier -------- Edit - For those who are not aware what XFire is check out the link below: http://www.xfire.com/cms/xf_tour/ Edit - Nuke1945 has setup an ArmA Community Page if anyone is interested link below: http://www.xfire.com/clans/armedassault/ (Please still post your names in here so we can keep a quick log at the top as well as under the community Xfire thread.) Thanks in advance, Griff

BI press release Re: OFP title and development
-23rd-_2Lt_Griff replied to M.Andersson(SWE)'s topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
Just been checking the OFP2 forums and they have a similar post up as this. Gives a refreshing perspective from a similar but all the same different community. Not trying to take sides, but at the moment Codemasters is appearing to be more gracefull than BIS in regards to this issue. I have seen no retalliations from CM yet and think that they wouldn't do so by a press releases, as these are supposed to be used to showcase change/news in the company or product, not to discuss issues with competators or company disputes. Which is a bloody shame, because I think over time this will have the opposite PR impact as was obviously originally intended. Ultimatley fingers are burning or soon will be. Link to the OFP2 forum thread is below: http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=337577 Griff -

I do see where your coming from. I think in essance what I am trying to say as its not the done thing, not just in games development and publishing, but any buisness. It just looks quite poor when you openly challange a competator. On prices and location of distribution that's different, thats competative sales. But on a legal matter, its extremely rare that things like this are openly brought up to a fan base, or ultimatley potential/future customers of a product. I just feel it may have been something better resolved quietly in court and not on the BIS forums. Even though its something that has clearly been demonstrated a weak legal case. Sometimes a community can have a little too much transparency about what happens behind closed doors. Anyway I'll be quiet now as when I start to use words like transparency its time to turn off the management speak and get on to co-opage. Griff -

In my view I have to agree that some of the techniques used by CM are below par. I would be a bit peeved if I was in the CEO's position. So I can see and agree why they would want to interject. Infact I agree they certainly should. However I disagree with making a big public statement out of it. I hate it when companies, feel they have to hash out their arguments like some big publicity statement. I am certain that this has been done to draw attention, but from some of the comments I have seen on 3rd party sites and my own personal oppinion. Not many people actually care about the name. It truly is the game! Maybe there are aspects to this I am just not seeing. But at the moment my view is that it looks childish to publicly release a statement that BIS are taking action against Codemasters, as it results in a 'he said she said situation,' just more polite and with better wording from both parties. My view would be - sort it out like adults/professional companies, out in the car park,I mean office, not infront of the online gaming communities. As if you fight fire in public, you could get burned, with several thousand if not more people watching. PS - I know I am a low poster, so apologies if my post is gash, I'm more of a forum stalker, await my opportunity and pounce. ;-) -
Hi mate, If you have not used XFire before I suggest you check this out http://www.xfire.com/cms/xf_tour/. Simply the easiest way of getting into games is to add everyone else to your Xfire from the list on the front page of this forum thread. Then just click on their name to start a conversation and off you go! There is also an ArmA Community page located here http://www.xfire.com/clans/armedassault/, which has a mini forum on it that is good for organising games. Also when you add people it will say if they are playing ArmA, if you click on their name and look at the right panel you will see the servers IP they are on. You can then go into game and join that IP! So the possibilities are endless. Added you to the first post. Many Thanks, Griff

Yo yo, Really quick update: - An extremely late happy new year everyone. - RiflesGC has just launched a new A.C.E Public server, for recruiting and general community useage. IP is the same as teamspeak 217.112.82.5. The only required addon is the ACE Mod pack. - First recruiting post has been refreshed and updated - check it out. Well until next time have a good one. RIFLES GAMING COMMUNITY "Taking Simulation to the Next Level." In Game Footage 1 In Game Footage 2 In Game Footage 3 Requirements - 16+ Only - Teamspeak - Mic for voice comms - Armed Assault 1.14 Why would you want to play as part of RGC? - A high number of RGC made missions in a British format, that are designed for the sake of realism rather than high kill couts, yet are challenging beyond just the usual 'kill a swarm of enemies.' - Tight knit community that is dedicated to both realism and fun. - Regular games where everyone has a key role. - Dedicated box hosted in UK data center, so a wide variation of games can be played. - Experienced players with experience dating back to the intial release of OFP. - The community primarily plays ArmA, but everyone is up for trying new games as well. - In game discipline and as much realism as the game can provide means that missions are immersive and new each time. - The rank system is only used in game in order to provide discipline when playing missions. Outside of missions everyone is mates and has a laugh. There is no 'Yes sir, no sir, three bags full sir.' - Everyone gets a change to lead mission if they want to and their opinions are respected and listened to. - Average age of players is around 20 years old, so there is added experience and maturity. - There is no requirmenet to be on every night of the week, just as and when you are able to play. - Training without the bullshit - its simple, effective, using real world tactics where possible, but takes into account the fact that the game is not 100% realistic. - A proactive approach by the RGC admins/NCOs. Why would people want to stay in RGC? - They are welcomed as part of the group. - They have their training done and sorted in good time, without being told "Maybe next week." - They get to play regular, organised coops with a bunch of mates who enjoy playing the game. - The unit is steady and consistent, it does not keep changing in structure, ranks do not keep changing and there are not massive arguments every five minutes. - There is a constant stream of new missions to play to keep people interested. - Addons are kept to a minimum so that the games runs smoothly and everyone can play all of the RGC missions. - Rank is only used in game and the community only uses rank to give structure to missions. People are not trying to out-do everyone else and backstab in order to gain a fake rank. - Everyone takes the piss out of eachother, everyone is fair game and everyone treats eachother as equals. - Wide range of missions making experience, so if you fancy a shot at it but are a new editor, there is always help available and people will put a lot of time into helping you. - Meetups with vast amounts of alcohol, piss taking and general abuse. - Noone thinks they are something they are not. RGC does not pretend it is the real Army and they respect the fact that the main point of ArmA is that it's a game. Interested? - Visit our website

Well Charlie, the reasons are two fold: * You are a very special person and * I don't love you anymore... Aside from all this I have decided to included you in the list...:-) ---- In relation to all other posts, original post is now up to date. Sexy Time, Griff

All up to date on original post now, thank for your names, keep em coming! :-)

Problem sort of resolved. The above unit should not be in anyway linked to the [23rd] GD of OFP, which was setup by Raynor and run by Questor, they have no links to that history and are similar only in name.

Added you to the list!

That is a mint idea - I have recieved and invitation from nuke1945 to join a ArmA community and have accepted. I am already in one community and it allows me to join that one fine. Makes setting up quick games even easier! Mint idea. I will post my server IP + TS details on it so if any of you fancy a game you are more than welcome to hop on! Mintage! -Edit wouldn't let me join for some reason so I have submited an application thing.

Feel free to add these usernames to your XFire and post yours on here if you would like. Its more for impromptude games than anything else, nothing too organised. Keep it simple for now is my suggestion ;-)
