Looking for a briefcase addon, supposedly Everon Cartel Mod made one but I can't find a working link anymore anywhere...
-
Great news, Vektorboson!
I wonder, would you also include any stuff previously announced by the NVA(Nationale VolksArmee)-Mod, like the Trabbi Kübelwagen etc? Hope you got access to their stuff which IIRC isn't available anywhere, or is it? Hehe, would also be nice if you could make a "Liebesei"-trailer for a Trabbi, just as a civilian "easter egg"-addon of the mod...
-
I know nothing of Warhammer 40k but this mod is really interesting... Definitely also waiting for the physically-diverging units...
-
If X goes online but without subscription, heck, I may even try it out!
-
Must say I can barely wait for it! OFP 4 Ever!
-
Sure hope so...

Thanx for the hint, vektorboson... I think I might have it somewhere... Gotta see if I find Pilis somewhere...

I've found Goslar Island Final which seems to be just what the doctor ordered - large, rather flat terrain with lots of woods, low-lag, small filesize, and completely independant of other files (only OFP Res needed apparently)...
-
Hi guys! I know I already know about alot of islands but I was wondering if anybody knew of any other that I hadn't thought about, that would be as large and as "wooden" as Kinmen, without relying on any extra addons if possible... As you may notice, Kinmen is pretty much filled with woods, more wooden areas than even PMC Europe I think, as well as the Bloody Days Mod maps (which I absolutely love)... Novajev and Dravoc have about as much vegetation as Nogova IIRC, which is less than Kinmen... and Legwania and Legus are a bit small... any other ideas? Â

Well, maybe they should start off with something for normal glasses, which have see-through ability and could carry a micro-battery etc...
Just saying this because other people besides me could also be naturally inhibited from using contact lenses - I have a too-sensitive "shutter"-nerve and my eye-globes are too retracted as to make even placing contact lenses anything less than a painful and morose experience...

My sources are only RUMINT from tech-savvy friends, so I can't provide links ( don't know their sources... ) but according to them Apple is finally going to bring out a version of the MacOS X that's supposed to be able to be installed out-of-the-box on IBM PCs... Let's keep our fingers crossed!
-
@Blizzard:Aren't you one year behind mate? Latest Mac OS actually runs on x86 (ibm pc) hardware. It's just not sold without an Apple supplied PC afaik.
The name's Buzzard btw, but AFAIK no MacOS runs out of the box so far on an IBM PC... Though I'd be happily proven wrong by you... Links to references to your statements that MacOS can be installed on x86 PCs with the ease of WinXP for instance, please?

All of you who bought into the shiney scams of DX10 games are directly to blame for your own misery in being stuck in this mess where you can't view your content from your PC on your monitor because of HDCP chaos.Heh, I don't even have a DX10 graphics card (too many good old games seem to have issues with those DX10 Cards... Â - a 7950GT does it for me ) nor am I EVER going to install Vista on one of my PCs... after WinXP I think will come either Linux or the IBM-PC version of Leopard MacOS... Â

I've read somewhere once about some game that there were some cheats that overrode admins, even permitting cheaters to throw out the admins from their own game, so I'd say: password-protected servers with admins online all the time (meaning, no gaming session may start without the presence of an admin) would be a better solution... The best would be to only let players whose trust in decency has already been proven (in public servers?) to be able to play on the reserved servers - but I bet that's being done already anyway...
With regards to Punkbuster, I must say I also hate it because it used to work well for some time whilst I played Bf1942 and DC and the game's Starwars mod, but suddenly it wouldn't auto-update anymore and after having to update it MANUALLY twice (which is a screwed-up thing to do, I tell ya, could really have been done more user-friendly... had to do it via command prompt et al) I just stopped playing online BF - well at least it allowed me to adhere to the Planetside Reserves program  ) .
As for Dwarden, our pleas for an alternative to M$ OS's whilst hoping for something nicer than Linux may be the new version of MacOS, Leopard... I've heard rumours they're working on a version of it that's supposed to be compatible with IBM PC hardware, at a 100%, out of the box... Supposed to debut at this year's CeBIT... Â

Another crappy picture (I just loved to have captured the moment) ... Â
Addons: Ninja with Pathy's old Remington 870. Photoshopped (zoom blurr and lettering) for humorous effect. Â

I see your point, Espectro. I just thought that, just like you said, since we don't know how the future is going to be, dismissing space fighters (which may or not be controlled like the air fighters in existance today) as arcade-ish was a bit harsh, since it may still happen.
And you described EVE like one could perhaps describe the "Star-Trek"-style of fighting (now, don't go into details of this because I don't have too much knowledge of this, I'm just taking it as a grand example) in which there are only large ships and the computer does most of the fighting, as compared to the (admittedly WW2-dogfighting-style-inspired) "Star Wars" type of fighting where the piloting skills (let's discount the Force just for argument's sake since not every pilot has it) as well as the fighter craft characteristics, as well as, why not, a fair share of luck are what determine the outcome of combats amongst space fighters.
Those "Star Wars" principles apply to Freespace, Freeallegiance, Starlancer, and the upcoming "The Tomorrow War" (as well as most naturally the entire X-Wing series). The "Star Trek" style of fighting applies to the "X"-series of games and the two "i-War (or Independence War)" games, as well as some others if I'm not mistaken, though I haven't kept track of those, since, what I said, I was interested in, was more the "Star Wars Space-fighter"-style of gameplay, which I don't consider arcade-ish at all (though of course every now and then there pops up a title that is too simple to be called a simulation, but none that I mentioned fit that category).
-
True you cannot control them with your joystick. You are looking for an arcade gameI wouldn't call Freespace and Freespace 2 exactly arcade games, they got enough buttons and tactics to earn them the title of simulations, even if they don't model gravity in a correct way, yet they're controllable with joysticks, but if that's what's nagging you then I could present you with FreeAllegiance, also a game that's controllable with joystick, but also sufficiently complex to be called a simulator. Last but not least, Universal Combat, a game with enough acronyms and complexity to rival Falcon 4, is also supposed to be playable with joystick in addition to mouse and keyboard, so I don't think your assessment of joystick = arcade game is exactly accurate (and hope that the Falcon 4 ppl don't hear ya - cuz I don't think they fly pushing only keyboard buttons and swirling the mouse around... ).

BUZZARD @ Jan. 10 2008,22:16)]I can't afford to pay for MMOs but the fact that you can't play as a fighter craft in EVE I think is annoying - just my oppinion that there's GOT to be starfighters, blame Star Wars for it  - AFAIK the smallest craft in EVE is still a small frigate, but starfighters is what I like best... ÂWhat do you mean not play as a fighter?
Fighting is one of the biggest aspects of eve.... Â
As I said, not in a space fighter, the smallest craft is a small frigate, which still works as a multi-crewed vehicle. However, a single-pilot space fighter with the size of an X-Wing or a Freespace fighter, playable and joystick-controlled is something that is absent from EVE if I'm not mistaken... Â

What, LAN Gaming not possible with it?

Universal Combat curiously has a "free roam" mode that is also available for multiplayer, where you can also pull cargo-hauling assignments, amongst other non-combat ones... I gotta try that out!

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think ArmA has only one flight model with different settings both for planes and choppers. Now, as we've seen so far, everybody is trying to know exactly what to do to the FM to make it better. Instead of running the risk of displeasing everybody else by just doing the corrections mentioned by person A, BIS has the "off-the-shelf" option to insert the settings they had in OFP, thus turning to something we're all familiar with, and didn't growl as much about as the current FM - because of course there will never be an FM that will be able to please everybody, but then the game makes compromises in all aspects...
