Manhatten Walkthrough (Spoilers Obviously)
ZachNCheese replied to Archamedes's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
If I may interject quickly, for anyone trying to complete the objective of transporting Lagushina to LZ Jersey there is an easy way without using armored vehicles. You arm your team with a SMAW launcher and insert by helicopter on top of the LZ. If you stray away from the LZ, it will not let you complete the mission; the SMAW makes it possible to kill the vehicles from a considerable distance. -

At FOB Manhattan, there's an LAV-25 (medium armor) and an AAVP7A1 (light armor). Those would definitely help and if you could figure out how to employ the UH-1Y's M134 Dillon miniguns, those would make short work of dang near anything on the ground. -

If your looking for the main base it is to the north of the road running between Krasnostav and Gvozdno and at the base of a prominent mountain in a field at the edge of some woods. I should be visible if you search the area with a UAV but I just stumbled upon it. It's guarded typically by a platoon-sized patrol and two armored vehicles, I believe a T-72 and BMP-2 facing north-northwest. The 81mm mortar battery took care of them, wait for reinforcements to arrive before assaulting. I'll try the mission once more and if the helicopter gets lost again, Lagusha may have dinner date with Stalin. -

Okay, I'll just try that then. At first, the helicopter actually saved my life so I thought it was a good thing but now I realize he was just flying erratically and happened to take out both vehicles. -

It was an Mi-24 with Russian markings (Red Star with white border). Is that the same one that picks her up? -

If I may ask a question, I escorted Lagusha to LZ Jersey to be picked up by Lt. Marny's men but they still haven't shown up. I killed the attacking Chedaki but something very strange happened, during the firefight a Russian helicopter crashed destroying two enemy vehicles and I also found an empty camp 50m from the crash site. How long should it take for the CDF to pick up Lagusha? -

I see, so I just need to bring up the unit menu and type in the script? Do I need to manually group them together? -
'Opening Shots' - SP Mission
ZachNCheese replied to ZachNCheese's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Adding air support will definitely be a priority when I can figure out how to synchronize it with the mechanized infantry. The Marines do dismount right as they enter the town and from there, their position can't be observed by the Russians units. I'll use this to my advantage in further designing the mission. I put the AAV's in before I found out they were 'light armor' for all intents and purposes. I decided to keep them, instead of replacing them with LAV's, because they look BA and I might make them playable. Thank you Godfather, General Maddus will be pleased. -
I'm working on a mission where the player leads a platoon of Marine infantry to reinforce a town held by the CDF. The time is 0220 and the Russians have just launched an offensive on the town with mechanized infantry and Spetsnaz who are landing in the area via helicopter. Luckily, the Marines have a battery of 'Avengers', a platoon of AAV7P's as well as two CDF ZU-23-2's. The player's objective is to secure the town by destroying the Russian armored vehicles and then overrunning the Spetsnazs' landing zone. Any tips or feedback on how to script or storyboard? I have all the units and movements created, I would like it to be as realistic as possible with the mission.

How do I change the formation of units that start the mission "In Formation"? By default they are all in a "wedge", where I would like them to start in a "column".

I see, thank you very much for that and the Wiki link. I'll go try it out now. -
I'm working on a mission where the player leads a platoon of Marines. The platoon consists of a headquarters element (PltCO, PltSgt, Corpsman) and three squads with three fireteams each. When I tell everyone to follow the platoon leader, the organization is lost and everyone appears on my unit bar rather than the squads as a whole. How do I organize my platoon to quickly select between squads in-game? -Zach

Yeah, a gyro-stabilized camera should have been a prerequisite before launching the game.

I can't seem to deploy the UAV effectively for reconnaissance. My problem is fixing the camera on one spot so I can focus in on that area. Can you directly control the UAV? Any helpful tips for using it? Note: I started another thread similiar to this on a broader scale but it is too far gone with no responses.
