That doesn't explain why plenty of people with the DVD version have had similar problems, maybe they should look a bit further afield than just incompatibilities with the d/l version and patch 1.02

@JumpingHubert Check my posts on page 3, I've already been successful - by doing your fix - and thanks again! It must be the way winzip unpacks the files - even then I had to repeat some of the .pbo unpacking from the DVD to remove the error inducing .pbo files ANYBODY HAVING DIFFICULTIES IN PATCHING THE DVD VERSION SHOULD FOLLOW JUMPINGHUBERT'S METHOD see my post at the top of page 3

Re-installing the ****ing game about 5 times and trying to get this patch to 'work' isn't being lazy I asure you. I did sort it in the end thanks to JumpingHubert 's tip (on page 2 of this thread) on unzipping the .pbo's from the DVD into the addons folder of the v1.0 install using winzip . Why that worked I don't know but I appreciated his helpful post, unlike some I could mention.

It worked eventually. Â Â Â Just doing a new install did not work, as I have said, with patch 1.02. But following your advice and extracting the .pbo's from the DVD using winzip did - first attempt got rid of a lot of the error .pbos but not all so having backed up the addons directory I re-extracted with winzip the remaining ones the patch was still not happy with and PRONTO! it worked. I have got exactly the same problem as the first post, all the.pbo files come uo listed as having errors,I've tried every combination of install/patch/reinstall you can think of This is not limited to the download version mine is the german DVD version! Don't bother trying to d/l from different locations for the patch or a new d/l copy of the game its clearly a bug in the 1.02 patch . Why it works for some and not for others - who knows, perhaps the people who tested this patch also tested BF2142 patches

I have the same problem, I've reinstalled it several times, tried runnig the 1.02 patch with/without version 1.01 patch installed and still get a list of errors for most of the .pbo files when it runs the check at the start of the patch install. I have admin rights and use XP SP2. This is dammed frustrating, its just like the patch sees my original install off the german DVD version and thinks every file has been changed. I've downloaded the 1.02 german patch from 2 different locations but no difference - same list of errors in .pbo files including sara.pbo, anim.pbo, vehicles.pbo, wheeled.pbo, etc. etc. I've tried running patch without virus checker running - no difference. Any ideas anyone. I'm not impressed
