This week I'm getting: An Intel Core i7 2600k 3.40GHz A Gigabyte nVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 8GB Corsair Vengeance Blue 1600MHz DDR3 RAM A 128GB SSD And a Gigabyte motherboard (GA-P67-UD3-B3, specifically) For just under 2000USD, and even at that price I feel like I'm being overcharged (however, I get it all assembled for myself locally, it only takes a day to be ready rather than multiple weeks for shipping + shipping costs, and they service it locally too with 2 year warranties on each part). Your friend spending that much on an Alienware rig that isn't already tip-top-of-the-line is madness, especially if he's "that" kind of "PC gamer". :rolleyes: I'm pretty much guaranteed to get excellent performance with any currently-released game, I'm hoping it runs ARMA 2 as good as I want it to as well. Reason I'm upgrading now instead of closer to ARMA 3 is because my current PC is having lots of trouble running ARMA 2 and other currently-released games, and ARMA 3 is quite a ways off. I am confident that it will run ARMA 3 pretty good, though.

According to Steam I played RO for 3 hours before I got too pissed off with it. All I see bullet penetration adding is further frustration as said MGs will now be able to easily hit you through certain walls. I'll probably purchase RO2 out of support for proper PC developers anyways, but I don't expect to enjoy it.

I guess that's a perfect example of how something being realistic may not result in good gameplay. ;) For good gameplay I believe a properly lined-up shot with realistic ballistics from a high powered sniper rifle should be a one-hit kill. I do not believe that spamming at a target with a high-accuracy and high-damage MG should also be a one-hit kill.

I think what ruined Red Orchestra for me is what pisses me off the most about Day of Defeat: Source - once a guy with a MG plants himself in a good location he is pretty much unstoppable due to the stopping power of these MGs (especially in RO) and their accuracy. I just got tired of being torn apart by them. However, when I'm not being torn apart by them in DoD:S, I can at least see that I'm hitting my targets with my normal weapons. I can't tell at all in RO if I'm actually hitting someone let alone doing damage to them.

Every modding community has their fair share of assholes who like to steal other peoples' stuff, ours is no different. What matters is people taking a stand against said assholes by rallying the community against them, which is one thing this community is very good at. Great communication between the various modding portals and forums, e.g. Armaholic and here, allows for said stolen IP to be removed very quickly or banned from being hosted on the most popular websites. I guess the difference here is the community has only recently started using larger modding portals like ModDB, so the aforementioned communication has been easy when it's just between community-specific websites. With Men of War, they're using ModDB from the start, and I would imagine the communication suffers as a result and guys like Vora_bat are left able to steal peoples' work and have no action taken against them. Not that I would hold that against ModDB as their site is very large for them to be ever-attentive to every project.

It's still supposed to give you a feel of what the expect, and my point is that it gives off way more Bad Company 2/Medal of Honor vibes than anything resembling a Battlefield 2 vibe. I participated in the Bad Company 2 beta and it wasn't a whole lot different to the finished product.

@victim913 - Show some more respect to the guy whose addon you find "excellent", as you put it. Do not go making demands of people who make things like this for free in their own time. And yes, you can quite easily work around this "problem" with a little scripting. Try disabling the simulation of the plane until its wings are up, and then re-enabling it using the enableSimulation command. Or use a setPos loop keeping it locked to the same position combined with allowDamage. Or some other solution you may come up with. Have a look at the scripting commands available for ARMA 2 and try to do some investigative work next time.

Well, these issues, among others, make it seem more like a sequel to Bad Company 2 than a sequel to Battlefield 2. That's reason to complain in my eyes. And from what I can see in gameplay videos, it does not have any of the Battlefield 2 feel and all of the Bad Company 2 feel.

Indeed. Level 30 coupled with the slowest ranking system in gaming plus the lack of motivation to play a samey, brown, competitive FPS and be screamed at by kids and banned by insecure admins. Guess I'll never be accepted. :rolleyes:

I have a BF veteran rank of 3 and 120+ hours of BC2 in Steam, and many hundreds of undocumented hours in BF2 and BF2142, but I was turned away. Shucks.

I tried, for Operation Cobalt, Blood On The Sand and even For Queen and Country. I got a couple offers but not enough to fill the roles and fill them properly. I decided it would be too weird to have some roles voice acted and others not. Plus, you can also run into the problem of having bad voice acting, which draws you out of the experience as much as no voice acting. However, now I am too short on time to do further updates for my already-released work, but that's not to say that a couple surprises aren't on the way. ;)

He considers himself a modern Knights Templar, and that he and his "brothers" are to carry out another Crusade. So even if it turns out he wasn't the perpetrator for whatever reason, they'll have at least captured a nutjob bent on doing harm to people in the future.

And many miles better than Dragon Rising's and Red River's. :p
