Yeah, seems okay just to ignore them. Been messing around with it now and by God am I happy I bought the DLC. I'm actually laughing walking around with these ridiculous looking guys and their voices that sound like they're underwater. :D
-
Yup, I got the same error(s) RH.
-
Thanks. I know that. My point is - won't it be a bit odd for those uninformed to see units permanently stuck with such low-res textures? Won't it kinda suck gameplay wise? I can understand it's purpose, and I fully support it, but it's a bit of an odd execution.
-
Well, I'm installing. Guess I'll have first-hand experience if it ends up conflicting with the DLC.
-
It's a bit odd that they're so low-res...
-
Yeah, Rellikki just sent me this: They really are quite bad. :p
-
Just to clarify - is it okay to use this patch and then install the BAF DLC in an hour and we won't get duplicates or conflicts? Or should those of us buying the DLC wait for it to come out?
-
Yes, I agree that should definitely have been done. But do the low-quality ones *actually* look that bad? It'd be a bit weird for them to be like that when everything around them will have higher-res textures...
-
I'm all for keeping the community together, and giving more... Limited features, plus I'm happy to pay $10 for the DLC to support BIS... But I can hardly tell the difference usually between high and low-res textures and audio (unless you go from 1024x1024 to 256x256, and 320 to like 86, say). Thus it means I spent $10 for a campaign and an island... It doesn't bug me all that much, but I can see it annoying those who are more... Fragile. I do hope it keeps the majority happy nonetheless. :D

Agreed. For future reference, here's his other thread.
-
Basically he finds Arma 2 too hard and wants it dumbed down.
-
You are playing the entirely wrong game. I can't tell if he's trolling?
-
One copy of the game per person. Same as any other modern game. And no, it should happen. It's a fantastic way to combat pirates. Doesn't stop you from playing MP but as soon as you do, the game's toast.
-
No, but most of the time it is, because the modern gaming industry has groomed its consumers to be lazy. MAG was done horribly wrong. It's boring, and rarely do you find that many people playing at once. If you do, the lag is likely to be ridiculous (I found one once with 244 players). Plus, it too was fairly bugged. MAG was quite the poor example to use there.
-
No, that's not what happened. He installed the same copy in two different places and they were connected to the internet at the same time due to them wanting to play together. FADE definitely kicked in. Only solution - uninstall, reinstall, either don't connect them at the same time, or remove one of the copies.

CM Operation Flashpoint 3 announced | "Oops, they're doing it again..."
Zipper5 replied to Undeceived's topic in OFFTOPIC
I think we can all agree that probably the main reason CM's OFP games will continue to suck at being an OFP game is because of CM's "award-winning" EGO engine. It sucks for anything other than a racing game, and they're trying to do the polar opposite of that with it. In the words of the oh-so-wise Master Yoda: That is why you fail. -
British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
Zipper5 replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I'm 99% sure that, due to the way Steam has always handled DLC for games, you will need to own OA or Combined Ops on Steam, not a DVD copy. For that you must use Sprocket. You must change your hardware a lot to not like Sprocket's policy. -
Call Of Namalsk - SP Mini-Campaign
Zipper5 replied to wiggum2's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
The STALKER unit models don't go too well with the Arma 2 animations and thus they look quite odd in places. I'd advise against him using them. -

^this. It's obvious now that he's just trolling. Leave him be. -
That's reality. This is a game.
-
Well, the game has been getting mixed reviews, with the main criticism being that after you complete the story there's nothing else to do. I'll probably still get it when I get the chance. I liked the demo, and I like a good story.
-
Can you not tell the difference between a video game and reality? Or are you like those people calling for a ban on the new Medal of Honor? Seriously, it's a game, it's a work of fiction. Is it okay if you play as Russians killing American soldiers in a game? Because that's what happened in Red Hammer. I for one would be intrigued by a mission where Canadian forces were the bad guys, for example, as I know it's not real but is an interesting "alternate reality" I guess you could say.

When in windowed mode and you go to another window, by default Arma 2 will be "paused", and will reload when you click back to it's window. With -nopause, this doesn't happen and it continues running as per normal despite not being on the window itself.
