CM Operation Flashpoint 3 announced | "Oops, they're doing it again..."

I don't see that happening any time soon. ;) Despite Arma 2 seeming to be exactly what he wants in a game... -
CM Operation Flashpoint 3 announced | "Oops, they're doing it again..."
Zipper5 replied to Undeceived's topic in OFFTOPIC
He just created this thread: http://community.codemasters.com/forum/general-discussion-1335/424432-information-i-expect-see.html I cannot see Red River achieving even a quarter of the things he mentions. If a game were to achieve all of those, it'd probably be the best shooter on the market... ... Too bad Arma 2 already has most of those features. High resolution PC textures Check, Arma 2 has those. Most PC games should... Detailed configuration on PC (all graphical settings changable) Check. No Console restrictions needlessly placed on PC version Check. Floating Aim-Point Option Check. non-trackIR freelook (soldier+vehicle) Check. Ability to play at the engines maximum realism level (like Hardcore Ultimate AI) Check. Becomes even more ruthless if you use AI mods. Very Low LOD models on all objects should be at least as detailed (model and texture) as LOD1 models/textures in Dragon Rising Check, and even surpasses, which says a lot about DR's if you actually look at Arma 2's, lol. Full first person body that interacts with the environment (moves large weapons around walls etc) Check. Realistic reactions to weapons, including falling over, blown off your feet etc Partial. The dismemberment isn't there, but you still feel the effects. Visible simulated bleeding Check by default, but it only has a threat of death if you're using the First Aid Modules, or mods. Full facial animation Check. An impressive array of weapons, and weapon modifications. each weapon should have the SAME modification ability. I can tape a torch to ANYTHING. Partial. Has the impressive array of weapons part, and has multiple different ones with different configurations of the same weapon, but you yourself can't physically customize them ingame. A 3D world that is extremely detailed, and extremely varied. Every inch cleverly designed to promote the best aspects of the game. Check. Persistent Damage on everything. if our hummer gets shot in the window, that damage is there for good. If a building is destroyed, it stays destroyed Check. At least double the number of damage levels on every static Check. Dynamic Campaign with non-static objectives Check. FTE's with randomized gameplay Check. Extremely Stable COOP over long distances Partial. Depends on the size of the coop. 2 players, then yes. 50 players, it starts to lose it's grasp. A Guarantee of post purchase support + DLC Check. Arma 2 scored at least 16 out of 19, but not a single one was a no, so you could say it has all of those features, but some not to such a "perfect" extent. So essentially he wants Arma 2, but he doesn't want Arma 2. FPDR -
Here's said low-res logo converted into JPG for those who want it:
-
Interesting, can you point me to said post, out of curiosity? Never knew people other than The.D, Cole and myself knew I made a private Arma 2 conversion that was only played between us 3. I can't release it publicly because I don't have hank_officer's consent. Sorry.

It's pretty bad when you try to hide your own identity, and then boast about your own work... -
I guess you'll be glad to note then that the campaign will be even longer with the inclusion of the BAF DLC. ;)
-
And yet WoW looks unbelievably fugly. :butbut:
-
I don't use it at all. Gives you a severe disadvantage when up against human or even AI opponents (if you're locked into 1st person, at least).

A2 - OA BAF Campaign Impressions
Zipper5 replied to nedley's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
It's not really sensible to release content to people, that they would otherwise have to pay for, just to enable coop. ;) Plus, current depbo tools can't depbo the new encryption in the DLC, and it's unknown if they'll be updated to do so. -
Why are you asking that here? Town Contact was only officially made for ArmA. There's not been any public release of it for Arma 2, nor OA. Ironically, in this case, I had made a private Arma 2 conversion on Utes a while ago for The.D, and he made his own modifications to it, but I don't know if it's still around.

That's because most of us here are actual fans of OFP. -
1.54 has the recoil in by default. He'd have to reinstall and apply an older patch to get rid of it. ;)
-
Not until someone makes a mod that removes, reduces or just changes it.

Zipper5 replied to Undeceived's topic in OFFTOPIC
I wouldn't, simply because of the reasons I posted above. Not worth the wasted harddrive space. Only game I will ever own with the Codemasters name on it is my GOTY Edition of OFP. -
It's not a problem, it's a new kickback feature introduced in the beta patches.
-
Or perhaps you play on servers too far away from you. ;)

Meh, I don't really feel for people who show indifference to CM's terrible business and ethics, and on top of that encourage people to give them more money. -
Yup, you will only get people playing your missions if you happen to be part of a rather cooperative clan these days. :p

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
Zipper5 replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Believe me you guys, you've more than earned it. I've not had issues acquiring the DLC myself, but I've been watching this Steam debacle progress from the sidelines. You did an excellent job, especially seeing as you put out a beta patch in the process and seem to have been awake now for 48 hours. Enjoy your sleep, and we'll see you when you wake up in a week's time. :D -

I like this one character over there (you should be able to tell who by looking at their forums, but I won't name names ;)). I kinda relate him to yee ol' Comical Ali. He sees clearly with his own eyes that everything's going down the shitter, but he keeps telling people that, and I quote, He seems to be 100% sure about a lot that CM has never once announced or hinted to in regards to RR for a guy who isn't a CM employee... -
Dutch Minister may ban remains in extremely violent games
Zipper5 replied to jerryhopper's topic in OFFTOPIC
I always find people campaigning for the banning of violent video games laughable. It's too much effort and far too costly for them to actually try to invest in psychological help for those obviously in need of it, and in education for those who obviously need to recognize psychological issues people they know might have. Not once has a violent act at the hands of someone proven to have "played games like GTA4/Postal/CS/etc." been attributed to anything other than the person having severe psychological issues. People need to be taught how to recognize and deal with these issues, rather than simply blanket-banning violent video games. Though I must say it's rather typical of modern politics. In fact, it's rather like modern medicine too. Treat the symptoms rather than the source. -

*Nice* overhaul to the MP interface w/ v1.54

They still refresh when you highlight them. They do it every time for me. -
Unless a mod comes out for it, it's not possible to make it so you're always speaking with a British voice. I just tried making myself always speak with a Czech voice by manually adding the CZ suffix to my voice configuration (Male02CZ) in my profile file, like you would when writing Identities in a description.ext file, and it just defaults back to Male01.
