  1. Join in progress defined as a feature. Even BIS has recognized it should be the norm of the MP gaming world by now. Most of those features are aesthetic, and I couldn't care less about most of them (lol, XP system...) given the game's been stripped to linear corridors with pre-scripted events. It's a lot easier to have those when your game isn't very complex to begin with. Oh, and this is taking the fact there are no mod tools nor a mission editor out of the equation. That alone is enough to label it a failure this early on no matter what anyone says. It's an OFP game made in 2011 that can't accomplish something done with the same brand in 2001.
  2. Red River could perhaps not be a reskin of DR, but it's most definitely a reskin of Call of Duty/Battlefield/Medal of Honor/HALO, which is much worse. ;)

First living MoH recipient since Vietnam

This thread is not about slagging off the actions of other Coalition soldiers, it is about a man who carried out an incredibly heroic act and was awarded the Medal of Honor. The posts were therefore offtopic, but moreso being used as flamebait, thus they were rightly removed. Take your politics elsewhere.

    AI Still Stubborn

Do you mean they stop moving or they get locked into Combat mode until the last enemy they know of is killed? That fix was for a bug where they stopped moving entirely when entering Combat or Stealth. The forcing of Combat mode, which only occurs when the unit detects he's being engaged, lasts until all the enemy units posing a threat to him have been eliminated or have fled. He acts just like he would if you put him into Combat mode manually in that regard. Frankly they're not hard to control if you know the AI workings well enough. I could do without the feature personally, but I often stick the AI in Combat mode when engaging the enemy so I'm used to how they work when in that mode. Get in some practice if you must.
  5. According to templar the mentioning of those supposed facts leaked by CM employees that were posted in here a while ago caused a "big drama". Looking back I can see a few people weren't surprised about it, but it hardly caused a "big drama" because we know not to trust what people say supposedly came from the horse's mouth. However, you might be interested in Sion's response: I do find it funny how they made an OFP game and most of their sales came from the consoles. Shows exactly why Red River is becoming what it is... The PC version didn't have achievements so you can't tell how many of them completed the game. Oh and for part b, show me new features, Sion. All you've done is taken them out. ;)

Arma2 OA vs. ACE MOD (multiplay)

I prefer playing with just simple sound mods and perhaps some retexture replacements.

    Multiplayer

Beta patches after 1.54 will work completely fine if they differ between the clients and server, as will using normal 1.54. The BAF DLC also has BAF Lite, so there's no splitting of the community there. I'll agree that Arma 2 MP is 1 of 2 choices: only ACE2 or only vanilla, and then it becomes 1 of 5 choices: Domination, Evolution, Warfare, Berzerk or Chernarus/Zargabad Life, but these are outside BIS' control. I think ArmA had more of a MP community because there was still variation back then, and the aforementioned game modes were all new and cool but, like everything, if you overplay it they quickly lose their entertainment value. I know many people who played ArmA MP continuously after it's release, including myself, only to stop playing MP in these games entirely due to being burned out on the same things being used and played over and over. I occasionally still get into MP games with small groups of friends in Arma 2 (and OFP as well, actually) using any mods we want, and it's a hell of a lot of fun. Public MP is a different story entirely.
  8. I always found it out-of-place too. However, that was very, very "concept stages". Heck, if you notice, it was meant to take place in Vietnam. :D
  9. Ah the good old days... I believe the website was BIS' as it advertised Armed Assault later on, did it not?

No, but I'm Canadian, and would gladly join the Canadian forces if I had to to protect my country from people like yourself. ;)

Just the good ol' boys... They don't mean no harm... Been in trouble with the law since they day they were born... Man, I was starting to actually listen to what you were saying until I found out you were some gun-toting revolutionary who could very well lead a bunch of otherwise innocent people to slaughter by "standing up" against NATO in your supposed "revolution" that we all know will either 1) never take place or 2) fail right when it begins. I feel sorry for all the Americans who have to listen to people like you call yourself a true American patriot. You are no better than Al-Qaeda, or the Taliban. Just in case you didn't know already, NATO comprises of: Albania Belgium Bulgaria Canada Croatia Czech Republic Denmark Estonia France Germany Greece Hungary Iceland Italy Latvia Lithuania Luxembourg Netherlands Norway Poland Portugal Romania Slovakia Slovenia Spain Turkey United Kingdom United States So yeah, good luck taking on all those country's armies with your rag-tag group of militia. I'll catch up on the carnage afterward on the news.

Lol you're kidding me, you're part of a militia group inside the US? Well good luck engaging the US military forces in combat.
  13. Here's a little bit of nostalgic trivia - recognize this picture? ;)
  14. Nah, didn't you hear? They were all evacuated. Those many towns and villages on Skira were all loaded onto some country's ships and sailed to unspecified-land, and that included the animals. You know, just like in a real war.
  15. There's always one, MadDogX.
  16. My friend bought it, gave it to me for free because he hated it. Played it, hated it, then I threw it away. :p
  17. Please do that BIS. Or a modder out there somewhere. :D
  18. Yup, we've gone over that one already. It was actually Sion himself, go figure, who said that they made all these weird modifications to the M16A2 to distinguish it better from the M4. I'm surprised he didn't tell them to put the carrying handle near the barrel of the M4...
  19. As I mentioned before, 90% of their forum comprises of people I'd expect to see on a Call of Duty forum, thus they think the only MP is competitive MP. FPDR

I would go out on a limb and say you are Agnostic. Or Atheist. Believe me froggyluv I am well attuned to the babble that is Fox News, and the legions of mindless drones who hang on their every word. Gotta love how they still push the "Fair and Balanced" slogan. :p
  21. By the way, Ben, that video you linked to about people laughing at DR's physics; at least we got it fixed. ;) Oh yee days of old... ArmA's release was a funny time... That video was one of many that made it so. :p RealVirtuality doesn't actually have much of a physics engine yet. DR however was based on an engine used to make racing games before it, and was even advertised to have incorporated HAVOK physics, yet you run into a rock at an average speed and you'll be sent flying. At least RealVirtuality doesn't pretend to be something it isn't.

USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

This thread is indeed quite fascinating. You see your stereotypical southern, heavily Catholic and politically motivated dooms-day declarer in many, many movies, usually to poke fun at them. Only when you start to discuss the politics of America, it seems, do you actually find out they exist. Oh, I'm not a Liberal. Do you just give the label "Liberal" to everyone you dislike? Again, you're reinforcing your stereotypes. I don't know how you expect your God to spare you from your "Judgement Day" when you are so openly violent and aggressive. I doubt you're much different in real life. Quite funny that you think your God will kill us off but not do the same to you. Delusional, much? :p
  23. They still don't recognize roads, have any movement prediction, and can't shoot anything without hacks.

USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

We don't understand anything that goes on in southern America. :p But then again, who does? :D
  25. Yup, the ones who can't recognize roads, can't predict an enemy's movements, can't shoot an enemy without wasting 3 magazines, and can't think without that weird... What was it called. Something you had to place in the editor to make them actually function properly, or slightly better at least. Oh, and now your game is being limited to "slightly larger corridors" and pre-scripted events. We feel very disappointed, I assure you. FPDR Our disappointment lies in the horrendous business ethics of ComedyMasters, and the raping of the Operation Flashpoint name. Nah, Max, Lenton & Co. would end up selling weapons that only have an effect on "the bad guys". Because shooting "the good guys" is apparently morally objectionable in war.
