  1. Guess you don't actually want OA then, Ben. For the record, OA has more features on its own than DR did and RR will. Says a lot, no?
  2. Great post, Sith. I remember back then, before Codemasters. Hell, before, OFP was just called Flash Point and it was gonna be published by Ubisoft. I think that may have turned out even worse in the future if you look at what they've done to their Tom Clancy games. :p To be honest I don't believe that if CM and BIS were working on DR or RR it would have suddenly made everything magically better. I think CM would have become the exact same sorry excuse for a company they are now and probably do the same damage to the OFP name, just this time BIS would have been legally obligated to put up with it...
  3. Ouch. You think the developer that created OFP doesn't deserve the name OFP? That's kind of harsh... The difference here is that ArmA is ArmA. It does not have the name OFP, therefore to say that it does or does not deserve the name isn't right because it doesn't have it, and won't have it. It's it's own game, it's own brand. CM's OFP titles actually have the name and advertise it as an OFP game, and due to how they do not live up to the expectations of the name at all any more, they're the only ones in this situation that you can say don't deserve the OFP name, and I'd agree with you. ;)

    Zipper5's Missions

Hey fellas, I figured it was about time for an update. Sorry there hasn't been an update for a while, I've been getting ready for school which begins tomorrow. I've got a lot to get through with that in the next few weeks so updates may continue to be sparse, but I'll try my best to give them to you when I can. That being said, BOTS' progress has not halted. A lot has been perfected with the first 4 missions of the campaign along with all of their cutscenes, and the 5th and 6th missions are in development and are progressing nicely. I'm not sure as of yet if I'll be releasing them soon as sort of a half-way point to publicly beta test the work I've done so far, but I won't rule out the possibility. ;) In the mean time be sure to check out Celery's new Dawn of the Apocalypse SP mission. I'm starting to see that it has connections to that random helmet-cam video someone uploaded to my YouTube page and posted on here a while back...

    [CAMP] Operation Cobalt

Thanks for that, Pufu. :D Cole has actually already offered his voice acting services to me, but he's been the only one so far. I'll see if I can get in contact with others when I have some time. ;)

    [CAMP] Operation Cobalt

Czech voice actors probably verges on impossible (ironic considering this game is Czech, no? :p ), but Russians might be able to be found at Flashpoint.ru, SARMAT, etc. yet could still prove problematic as I'm not sure if they could also speak English, as some of the Chernarussian and Russian characters speak two languages. However, I do have an opening for Mark Reynolds, the main American character. If this is at all increasing anyone's interest again, feel free to view this post of mine. If you want to apply, the same instructions still stand. ;)

    Soundmods?

Sound of War was made by Goeth from the FDF mod. It has very similar sounds to the FDF sounds in ArmA, but unfortunately has not been updated for OA, and I can't recall if it replaced vehicle noises.
  8. Tactical shooter tends to apply more to games like Rainbow Six: Vegas and Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (and RR as well, but we know that anyways). I don't think it's really fair to group a game so vastly different to them like Arma 2 in the same category.
  9. Yup, you can see in this video I made that VBS2 US Army Lite, at least, plays very similar to ArmA. The only major difference I noticed was in the sight-swaying and hold-your-breath mechanics, they were different and more realistic. The core gameplay mechanics are the same in both games, but VBS2 has 1,000x the features, as you would expect considering it costs 1,000x more. :p 9MBQg-7z-04

    [CAMP] Operation Cobalt

If I was to get offers for voice acting I'd definitely update the campaign to use them. Unfortunately, there seems to be an overall lack of Czech and Russian speaking voice actors, or perhaps they just weren't interested, I don't know. :p But thanks for the kind words, mate. I'm delighted to see people are still getting enjoyment out of it. :D
  11. Unfortunately I think his days are numbered now that he's been found to be an impersonator. :(

    Buggy rocks

Voted as well. I still love to watch an enemy AI unit get propelled many feet in the air to his death by touching a rock during a firefight. :D
  13. I'd also like to know when and why people stopped referring to OFP, and subsequently ArmA and Arma 2, as a military simulator.
  14. Indeed, but as you may or may not be able to see, I'm logged in right now in my real account, Zipper5. I could post but none of you could see it because of what appears to be a need for a moderator to approve them. But meh, think what you want to think. I'm not a troll. ;)
  15. Most of what they altered as a result of community feedback pre-release were aesthetics, such as the camo being worn by the PLA, or certain issues with the models of weapons. Their "military advisers" did a horrible job to say the least, and still are. How can you say they care but take out what the fans appear to want the most? Not only that, but Mr.Lenton went on to devalue DR's only modder, Templar. If that's caring in your opinion I'd hate to see what happens when they don't. Edit: :D Ben, perhaps you'll want to do your fellow community members a favor and inform them of the situation? That is if Bascule there doesn't beat you to it. ... Or maybe you don't have to and I can continue to watch the hilarity, since it's been revealed that the new Polaris is indeed also an impersonator (I f*cking called it). Funny how you guys are quick to jump on a fake Polaris but not a fake me. :p
  16. Lol, nice one with "forum nerds" and "stupid ideas". I won't deny that there are many, many idiotic ideas, but there are definitely good ideas and points being made by both communities in this instance and they're all being ignored by Codemasters. For example, the exclusion of the mission editor and mod tools, the two very tools that made OFP what it was, and continue to make the ArmA series what it is. Hell, it even made DR better, in a polishing-a-turd kind of way. By removing those altogether they remove all distinguishing factors between their game and all the other "tactical FPS" games on the saturated market, and they completely alienate their core audience by cutting them off from getting more involved in their game. It's a much more admirable stance to listen and support your fans than it is to tell them to "fuck off", like CM are doing. Sure, that could be how CM makes more money, but money does not equal respect, and that respect diminishes even further when you lie about your product and act like frauds. CM have over the years garnered a reputation of being a sub-par developer and publisher, and have more recently garnered a reputation of being shysters. That will hurt them, and rightly so. Many independent developers pride themselves on how their fanbase supports them, be them a big community or a small one, and that's why indie gaming is flourishing at the moment when all the mainstream developers treat their fanbase like money bags.
  17. Did you even play DR? No kidding! :butbut: :D Edit: Oh god, Polaris is back. Or, at least, someone's chosen the same name as him, but still labels himself the "Leader of Heroes". Oh, and he too thinks the troll was actually me. Don't worry Mr.Polaris, I'm more embarrassed for you that you fell for a troll. ;) http://community.codemasters.com/forum/general-discussion-1335/421698-gunships-14.html#post6486764 Oh, and nice move with telling me to "zip it", because I haven't heard that 50,000 times before. Seriously, you guys need an education on the internet. This is just funny. :D Or, on second thought, perhaps someone's trolling Polaris now too?
  18. He wasn't just referring to the ones in that thread.
  19. For example, Sion made that "This is a good thread" post, and the first response to that was a direct question asking if they would be taking what we said and implementing it into RR. Guess what? No reply yet, Sion went offline after a while. They might be communicating more but that doesn't mean they're no longer trying to bullshit their way out of their situation.
  20. Nah, it seems their respected community members in general don't know what to think. One minute they're being trash-talked by the developers themselves, the next they're saying the game will be completely standard and uninspired, and finally they'll say it will be great because they accept it as it is. Then the cycle repeats.

    The soil is alive

I believe it's to do with the new terrain shading that makes 2D textures have shadows and such. Games like Just Cause 2 suffer from the same issue.
  22. Yes, of course, and that's the main reason I'm pissed off. The fact that it's applied to the OFP name has taken a back seat, for me at least, to the horrible business practices of Codemasters and the fact that some people are willing to subjugate themselves to them, and pay CM in return. It completely boggles my mind. I won't deny, however, that the name adds fuel to the fire, although it already sufficiently burns bright. Edit: http://community.codemasters.com/forum/general-discussion-1335/427416-lets-put-new-spin.html#post6485200 Of course it is, Sion. It's one of the few that has yet to bash you and CM. FPDR
  23. Nah, I think us over here are passionate about OFP, and those over there are passionate about Codemasters. When a company takes a franchise people are passionate about in a radically different (and obviously worse, in this case. Even those over there admit it, but have still backed off for whatever reason...) direction, there's going to be tempers flaring. It's not the first time it's happened and, unfortunately, it won't be the last. Not unless simulations somehow become more popular than they are now. :p
  24. What's the benefit of me trolling the CM forums? It's just some guy having a laugh, and he's not actually doing a bad job. He's got all of you guys confused. Even Zarif, a moderator. :p As I said before, I was shadow-banned a long time ago. I'd probably have been insta-banned by Helios if I was to re-register, especially when all he's done is put a space between Zipper and 5, so Helios obviously knows that's not me. ;)
  25. Very interesting read, Richey79. Sounds like APB was quite the disaster, but I think the whole dead-after-90-days sums it up just as well. Just like DR, in fact. These games dying so early on show that there were some severe internal issues in the companies that weren't at all being communicated, either deliberately or by accident. Though, in the case of Codemasters and DR, I'd hedge my bets on intentional.
