Cold War Rearmed 2 is remaking Cold War Crisis and Resistance in Arma 2. The biggest problem is the terms that still stand between BIS and Codemasters regarding all of the original OFPs.
-
Yes, v1.07 is Arma 2 only. v1.54 is Operation Arrowhead or Combined Operations.

Yeah, one of my favorite episodes of theirs. :D "Fuck this, let's go play Arma 2. Island Twilight here we come." - Pudd'n -
So far, that makes the most sense to me. The question is; what button does Arma 2 not already use? :p
-
I think the action menu already has enough stuff in it without the option to throw grenades too. For me, the time it takes for me to scroll and click the option to take out my rocket launcher in the action menu is almost double that of simply pressing F a few times to select my grenades.

Cool video but at 0:11; what religion makes up the entire US Army? :p I think you guys gotta be a little careful with the religion aspect you seem to be promoting, whether accidentally or intentionally, since it's a touchy subject for a lot of people. I'm not one of them, but just giving you a heads-up. Also, I think it would be better if you had named this thread VirtualBattle 2, without the promo movie suffix. That way you could use this as an update thread, like Comrades in Arms.

Well, not once have I thought they were scripted, but it's obvious that they are edited, so perhaps they've done some swapping and moving some of the speech for comedic effect. They do a great job at that, then! :p

I've been watching them since they started back in ArmA. An awesome duo. My favorite so far has been when they try playing DR. So many awesome quotes. :D

What would you like BIS to focus on?
Zipper5 replied to armatech's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Sorry, no. If your friends want animations like DR that means they want a floating weapon with no feet and movement that does not match their 3rd person animations. Leave that to arcade FPS games like DR, and perhaps those will please you and your friends more. On-a-swivel animations != good animations. I too want to see the animation system improved as it's still far from perfect, but I want to see the style of BIS' animation system remain as I find it unique to them. A mix between OFP's and Arma 2's animations would be ideal in my eyes. -
British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update

If you're going to boycott anyone, boycott Valve. Every game on Steam works in the exact same way and always has; you cannot buy a game from somewhere else, buy it's DLC on Steam and then expect them to work in unison. It's not BIS' fault. However, I believe the methods outlined here may be able to make you do that, but I've never had to do it since I didn't buy from Steam, so you would want to get confirmation from Dwarden or someone who has. -
It is indeed impressive, but I wish they would get rid of the MW2 promo picture from the intro. :butbut:

I'd have thought for a game trying to be partially realistic their first two dev members would have been interested in realism, or consulting for them on the realism aspects, to give perhaps some clarification that they are actually planning on making it at least slightly realistic. Instead, in typical Codemasters fashion, we get people working on an OFP game who's inspiration comes from L4D and TF2, and none of their interests state anything relating to realism, or even the military. Nice...... FPDR -
Convoy behavior seems much improved, but there's still one large crux; they'll still royally screw up on occasion if the convoy consists of vehicles with different speeds and accelerations. I tried using forceSpeed but that just seemed to make it worse. But hey, it's a start! :D

Wow, must test! :D

Not to mention everything is constantly being spawned in with GTA IV, not persistently there like in Arma 2. -
You'll just have to wait and find out. ;)

Yeah, we saw that a while back. I'm pretty sure that guy was just trolling given his informality when discussing the matter, and considering he's only got 4 posts. -

FLIR without OA was simply a Photoshop texture overlay and did not work realistically at all. Lights on weapons were usually just a light object setPos'd onto the weapon with an update position loop. IR lasers and strobes were never accomplished. Multiple optics on one weapon were also not accomplished without some form of an ammo bug. And we're not even talking about all the new functions BIS introduced, including the dynamicText, AAN Overlay, and many other functions. Show me a mod that had OA's features before OA was released. -
Mission accomplished. :D

Zipper5 replied to Undeceived's topic in OFFTOPIC
Ben, please point out an already-made community addon that simulates FLIR to the same degree that OA does it, a complete pack of British units that have been standardized and used widely online, working infrared lasers, weapons with multiple view-ports, whisper voices, and fully-voiced, high-quality campaigns, SP missions and MP missions. Get my point? Has any of that actually been done by the community? Hell, with the vanilla Arma 2 engine limitations some of them aren't even possible without having serious flaws. I'd hardly call it over-priced to open such a wide door like OA has. You don't even have to buy the BAF DLC to use it, BAF Lite was given for free in 1.54. "That guy's" one response to someone pointing out what Arma 2 and OA do better than DR and RR is always something to do with the opinion that it takes a monster rig to handle it. That simply leads me to believe he's expecting way too much out of a game of this scale, or his PC is ancient, because even entry-to-mid-range PCs can run OA nowadays on, at minimum, the lowest settings. I bet he expects a fluid 60 FPS on an old Intel Dual Core with maxed out settings, because DR gives him that or something. -
The beta patches have fixed that issue.

Probably not possible due to issues with BIS & Codemasters regarding OFP. The closest thing you'll find will be Cold War Rearmed 2.
