    arma2 and steam OA combined?

Indeed, I know that Dwarden, and I mentioned it in my post: But in the part before that I was simply stating that for most other games with expansions, you cannot combine them. We're just lucky that you developed a method for us to use with Arma 2 and OA. :p

    a suggestion

I'd say it's a safe bet that most will require Combined Operations or just Arma 2 from now on. Not many people seem to own just Operation Arrowhead.

    arma2 and steam OA combined?

Like all expansions or DLC on Steam, you cannot officially combine them with versions bought from other retailers. However, in this special case, you might find the answer to your problem here. Edit: Ninja'd by Dwarden. What he said. :p

    Operation Sapphire NORMAL / ACE

That just means it uses Arma 2 content. I don't know of many people who only own OA.

    DLC- What do YOU want?

But as you saw they could only use the OFP: Elite voices and missions, which were in many, many ways different to the original OFP.

    Zipper5's Missions

Alright, so I've got some good news for you guys. I've just released the longest and most complex mission I've made for BOTS so far on the OFPEC forums for beta testing. It's called Preemptive Strike, and you can find it here. Be sure to let me know, either there or here, of any issues you encounter! Enjoy! :D

ARMA 2: OA beta build 73478

The white faces? I presume you mean the pale faces? That's caused by how ATI cards handle jpgs. I don't believe there's anything BIS can do to fix it, but if you convert your custom face to paa instead of jpg, the problem should go away.

    [CAMP] Operation Cobalt

Thanks Bink. ;) I think the way I'm going to go for it if I do actually decide to include voice acting is to release BOTS fully voice acted first, and then after that, if the voice actors are willing, do the same for Cobalt. I've also decided that the best course of action now is for me to seek out English speakers who can at least do a "foreign" accent. :p If anyone else is at all interested, send me a PM.

    Facebook competition

    I submitted. :D
  10. Probably an issue with either where the camera is placed when looking through the sights of those weapons, or it's something wrong with the unit itself. Are you using any mods?
  11. I'm up far too late, that's how. :butbut: *falls asleep at the keyboard*
  12. Operation Arrowhead is standalone from Arma 2, so by just buying it you will only get its content. You will need either Arma 2 as well, or Combined Operations, to get the full package. Without Arma 2 you also won't be able to play most community-made additions to the game, and you won't have access to any of its islands, units or vehicles in the editor. Personally, I'd say you should buy Combined Operations.

Speed up the planes a bit

They raise and lower their gears and flaps, they fly, they shoot, they blow up. How are they "badly implemented"? They just aren't simulated to the fullest, as Arma 2 does not claim to be a flight simulator. :p
  14. So apparently they've got military advisers, and apparently they've signed off on all the inaccuracies to do with the weapons so far. I call bullshit. What does the USMC "approve" in regards to video games aside from perhaps, licensing matters? Not only that, but he's saying one individual in the USMC = the USMC.
  15. He was referring to the fact that none of the devs featured have said anything about liking even the original OFP, not people on these forums.

    [CAMP] Operation Cobalt

I'm just worried that bad voice acting might ruin the experience in some way. I know that it does detract somewhat to hear the voice acting in the official missions, I wouldn't want the same thing here just for the sake of having them. I guess it's just a fine line to tread. :butbut: Thanks for the comments! :D
  17. They will never mention Arma 2 for pretty obvious reasons. As I said before, the lack of any hints towards the dev team comprising of people trying to make the game at least slightly realistic says a lot more about what to expect from RR; lacking realism, over-the-top Hollywood action.
  18. I had seen that review quite a while ago now, but as soon as I heard that line I turned it off. Not at all because I dislike DR, but because I really dislike when reviewers say things like that; putting a noun as an objective. What exactly is... "Most military"?

ArmA II / OA Installation problems

I doubt you know this already, but save yourself all that hassle and legal issues, and just download the latest beta patch for OA. There is no DVD check when you run it.
  20. A dev can be very experienced in creating a turd, and creative with the turd, but that doesn't make it something other than a turd.
  21. Exactly. If someone working on the game was actually a fan of the original OFP, I'd find it would give more legitimacy to the dev team as a whole. As it stands now it seems like a bunch of guys hired in the past to create a cookie-cutter FPS simply continuing that trend.
  22. Of course, those are great games. In fact, almost all of the ones I listed are. I was just pointing out that no where is it mentioned a game like the original Ghost Recons, or the original Rainbow Six games. Obviously they won't mention Arma 2, but I personally think they would want to have put devs up who actually enjoy realistic games due to the uncertainty on the subject amongst their fans. But I guess the lack of that sends an even clearer message - the game isn't going to be realistic.

    [SP/COOP/DM] Guardian

You haven't bought the BAF DLC, have you? In that case you only have BAF Lite, which limits the textures to 64x64 on the new units and vehicles.
  24. Indeed. When a person so obviously accustomed to the twitch-FPS world claims that a game intending to be a military simulator is too difficult, then you should realize as a competent developer that you're going in the right way! So long as you aren't making the game impossible. Make the damn tester (he's under your payroll anyway) test the game for even longer, and see if once he gets accustomed to the fact he can't run around soaking up bullets and magically repairing his body, it will click for him that the game is realistic, not "overly difficult". If not, well, you have the wrong people testing a military simulator! But, of course, that's not what CM have done. Note the "competent developer" part. Edit: Two more developers mentioned, still only play TF2, Blur, Deus Ex, Uncharted 2, BFBC2, etc. And now we have people over there who think swearing doesn't add anything to the experience. I mean, Rogue Soldier level swearing is just stupid and unnecessary, but if a RPG exploded too close to you or a bullet whizzed over your head, I know my first exclamation would be "Fuck!" If you have a family then buy a headset, mute the volume, or don't allow them into the room when you're playing if you're that on-edge about it... FPDR
