Call of Duty 7: Black Ops Trailer...

I wrote a little article on how I'm perceiving the situation with Black Ops on my new website. It's pretty disappointing that after 6 days (and counting) the game's still taking up 100% of my CPU. Brings back memories of the last patch released for FPDR. It's a real shame, too, because I'm loving it on the PS3. Some of the humor, like the Zombie mode as you mentioned, BangTail, is hilarious. :D

    ARMA 2:OA beta patch 75666

I wonder if the patch number is meant to signify anything other than it's version?

    ARMA 2, version 1.08 - Patch Released.

If you have Vista or Windows 7, it should be: C:\Users\<your name>\AppData\Local\ArmA 2 OA\arma2oa.rpt And if you have XP, it's: C:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\Local Settings\Application Data\ArmA 2 OA\arma2oa.rpt Those folders will be hidden, so you'll either have to manually enter that destination, or tell Explorer to show hidden files.
  5. Next time, please use a thread title more appropriate to the problem. From what I understand your game does launch okay, it's just when you select multiplayer that it freezes. Do not bump your own threads without adding something of worth to the topic. As Günter said, please give us some more information so that we can help you better. What are your computer specs (OS, processor, graphics card, RAM, at least)? Are you running any mods? What are you using to combine your Steam OA and retail Arma 2? What's it's launch parameters?
  6. To support the aforementioned issues with loading objects, I can also state that I too have noticed the issue. I was just playing on Shapur with just vanilla OA v1.55, and as I span around the camera in command view it was very obvious that objects were loading in far too slowly and were clearly visible doing so. I fear making a video of it won't truly represent the issue as Fraps will inevitably drag the framerate down making the issue look more visible than it is normally.

Call of Duty 7: Black Ops Trailer...

MP is fun when it's not taking up 100% of your CPU and using 1,000,000, apparently, of your memory according to Task Manager. It's gotten to a point where some peoples' CPUs are actually failing, just like that last patch for DR. Yet, it runs flawlessly on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3... And there's been zero news from Treyarch or Activision as to their progress towards fixing it. Last time I buy a game from either company pre-release, let alone this soon after the release, on PC. Even ArmA was released in a more playable state than this.

Mystery Missile launch off the coast of California.

I use the point when conspiracies appear to tell me when I should stop caring about the event. ;)

    Beta patch for Steam?

I believe it's already possible for Steam users to use the latest beta patches. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Call of Duty 7: Black Ops Trailer...

You do realize that unless you're talking about your framerate being low (which I know it isn't as I too have played it on a PS3. My brother's PS3 in fact), when you say "lag", the lag you're experiencing is dependent on the client's connection to the host? I.E. it's dependent on the quality of your own internet, or the internet of the host. There isn't much the game can do to help that. Move your PS3 closer to your router and/or leave when a bad host is assigned to you. The lag issues the PC version had were mostly framerate based. I find it funny how even players on the PC version I'm running into so far don't even know that distinction...
  11. Reiterating what Rellikki said before, this thread is not for airing your dirty laundry. It is about Projet FELIN, not the team's internal affairs. You have been warned. Now back on-topic, please.

Call of Duty 7: Black Ops Trailer...

On the contrary, now that a patch has fixed all of my performance woes, I've been playing this pretty much all day today. I've gone through the campaign, played a round of zombies on my own, and been blasting away at multiplayer, and am loving all of it a hell of a lot more than I did MW2. I can see myself playing this for a long time to come.
  13. I can Sion running his mouth off again to that, Ben. ;)
  14. We're being assholes to Ben how, exactly? Point out a personal insult made towards Ben. You may not have noticed, but he's not acting very insulted in his posts, is he? In fact, did you miss this: lol, You need to go back and be a good reader for his comment now. :D And how exactly did my post not make sense in the context at the time? How does it not make sense to be pissed about seeing others being lied to and ripped off by Codemasters, especially if they're using one of your favorite titles as a medium for doing so? Stop with the flamebaiting, Pulverizer.
  15. I wasn't talking about Ben, stop trying to put words in my mouth. I said I wasn't mislead and ripped off because I never bought the game, I got a discarded copy from a friend who hated it, but many others were. If he gets his money's worth out of the game then more power to him, as I said. Codemasters mislead and ripped people off, and nothing about RR so far shows this will change.
  16. Should we react nicely to being mislead and ripped off after DR? Well, I wasn't, luckily, but many others were.
  17. As it always has been, the response to that is "when it's ready", and I think it's highly unlikely they're going to change the beta patch number back to 1.54. ;)
  18. And that therein lies the problem. If they didn't want you to consider it an OFP game they wouldn't have the OFP title on it. They genuinely want you to believe this is a game which is a sequel to the original OFP. Simply forgetting that and accepting it's going to be "different" in the FPS genre the same way MOH was trying to be "different" is the reason they think they can get away with this. But hey, if you end up getting your money's worth out of it, more power to you.
  19. I, personally, have comfortably settled into the position of hating it permanently, Ben. Unless it either stops sucking as a sequel to a 2001 game that has more features, or removes the "tactical FPS" bullshit, I won't change my opinion. I think it's safe to say we all know that neither of those changes are going to happen. After the depressing release of Black Ops my enthusiasm level for another samey "tactical FPS" has hit rock bottom even if it does, unfortunately, bear the OFP name. It won't be "different". Not with the direction they've confirmed to be taking it.
  20. Soldiers are still midgets I see.

Call of Duty 7: Black Ops Trailer...

http://www.callofduty.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=312410&sid=n245oeo1cc0ledv6g7rfbht8g1 So they acknowledge the problems but as of yet he has no idea what's causing it. Looks like I won't be able to play it for a while. :(
  22. I never thought I'd see the day that a developer would use a production cycle akin to that of Call of Duty on OFP. Guess Hell just froze over... For that alone I hope it fails.

Call of Duty 7: Black Ops Trailer...

It's not internet-related lag, it's performance lag, and it's wide-spread. However, the Treyarch master server is down at the moment, so perhaps they're making some fixes on that front, or the massive influx of players killed it.

Call of Duty 7: Black Ops Trailer...

Well, it's completely unplayable performance-wise at the moment. Stuttering like crazy and nothing seems to fix it. Apparently it's a very common problem amongst most of the PC users talking about it on their forums, and is specific to only the PC versions. Thanks, Treyarch/Activision, for showing how you really "care" about your PC users. Just gotta wait for a patch I guess...
