I believe, DMarkwick, the riots broke out when an aforementioned Chav a man named Mark, or something to that effect, fired at a police officer, missed, and the police officer returned fire and killed him. Then Mark's family called on everyone to riot. Funny thing is that they got bored quickly, backed off and then started to state that they do not condone what is going on now. Edit: Yes, Mark Duggan. Though it would appear he is not a Chav.

The UK seems to have a big problem with youth Chav and yob culture. It was only a matter of time before something like this happened because of that, but I think, like Eble, the response to them should be "harder". A former classmate of mine considers himself a Chav and he recently got arrested over here for possession. The consequences for that over here in the middle east are significantly higher than those over in the UK, I'll tell you. Perhaps such a response would knock some sense into these Chavs/yobs and show them that they really are the scum of British society...

That's a pretty bad example to use as Crysis 2 has a more serious cheating problem and less being done about it than we have here.

Iron Front - Liberation 1944, new WW2 game on A2:OA engine
Zipper5 replied to Choki's topic in IRON FRONT: LIBERATION 1944 - GENERAL
Nope, I guess it just wasn't moved to the right place yet. It is a new game, not a mod. Happy now? -
Steam - Download Better, Stronger, Faster
Zipper5 replied to .kju's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
I recently switched from DVD & Sprocket versions of CO and the DLCs to Steam ones. Though perhaps not as simple to run mods with them now on Steam, and get betas working too, they aren't exactly impossible. Since I have a SSD and HDD I created bat files like the following (this one launches the beta patch with other mods enabled, C is my SSD and D is my HDD): SETLOCAL ENABLEEXTENSIONS set _EXE=C:\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe set _A2=C:\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 set _PROFILES=C:\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Profiles set _MODS=D:\ARMA 2\ call "%_EXE%" -noSplash -showScriptErrors "-profiles=%_PROFILES%" "-name=Zipper5" "-world=Desert_E" "-mod=%_A2%;Expansion;CA;Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\expansion;%_MODS%@CBA;%_MODS%@ACEX_SM;%_MODS%@Blastcore_Visuals_R1.2;%_MODS%@PROPER;%_MODS%@TrueUser;%_MODS%@VFTCAS" ENDLOCAL And, to be honest, now that I have it working I can see it might actually make things easier than without the Steam version as I can easily change the values of the set extensions depending on where I move files. But on topic, I've been having some weird issues with Steam downloading games recently as it seems to be leaving out huge chunks of them and claiming they're finished. Most recently it was when I downloaded BC2, tried to play, had tons of crashes and obviously missing stuff, then I validated its cache and had to download 245mb of extra files that were missing, which fixed my problems. Could such screw-ups be related to these changes to Steam's download methods? -
No, if you're patched to the latest version (1.59) the game automatically loads DLCs and the patch itself will update both BAF and PMC to the latest versions. You do not need the mod parameters in your shortcuts anymore. Just launch the game and play. 1.59 is for OA only, so you will also want to install the 1.10 patch for ARMA 2. In this case, all you will need in your target line is: "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2OA.exe" -nosplash -cpucount=4 -exThreads=7 Also, Myke - while it's not exactly the most organized way to do shortcut parameters, having multiple mod parameters will do exactly the same as having them all under the same parameter. There are no negative effects with using multiple mod parameters aside from running out of target line space.

Tragically, ARMA 2's public multiplayer scene is in an utterly dire state and it's not something I can see BI having an ability to fix since the community chooses what is played, how, and what addons are used. You aren't the first person to post here asking about this, and I'm sure you won't be the last unfortunately.

Iron Front - Liberation 1944, new WW2 game on A2:OA engine
Zipper5 replied to Choki's topic in IRON FRONT: LIBERATION 1944 - GENERAL
When I look at how ugly COD:BlOps is, I still think it's a mod for older Quake engines... -
Download mission, place in Missions folder in your ARMA 2 install's root directory. Download addons, place them in a modfolder of your choice inside your ARMA 2 install's root directory. Add the -mod= parameter to your shortcut's target line and launch the game. If you think that's a messy pile of crap then I wouldn't recommend trying to install and uninstall mods on any PC game. From my experience with PC games with mod-heavy communities, namely GTA IV, STALKER, Source games, installing is easy as most make you overwrite core files, but good luck uninstalling them. RV is the easiest I've come across.

ArmA 2 OA Beta Build 83363
Zipper5 replied to -GLT-Sarge's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Well, this is weird. I now have what is basically a completely different and more powerful PC than the one I had before, and I'm still getting the exact same ACCESS_VIOLATION graphics driver crashes in these betas. Performance is excellent with FPS rarely going below 25 and no stuttering at all until the game crashes. I am also using the Steam version of CO with both DLCs, running this beta of course. The crashes seem entirely random. Campaign Making ... help request ...
Zipper5 replied to mortyfero99's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Speaking from experience I don't think you should be attempting to make a campaign right now, especially if you're asking such basic scripting questions as these. Start off small, make a SP mission or two, maybe a MP coop if you're feeling confident enough, and once you're more knowledgeable in the workings of mission making and scripting in ARMA 2, give making this campaign a try again. If you jump straight into campaign making at this stage in your mission making adventures I'm afraid I can only see you either getting stuck, demotivated, or disappointed with the final product (assuming you don't take 2 years to make it and learn everything there is to know about making it while doing so). Also, be aware that it takes a significant amount of time and effort to make a decent campaign. Just some friendly advice. Also, this is more of a scripting topic so it should have been posted in the Editing section. Moving now. -

MultiDiscussion : TES5: Skyrim, BattleField 3, COD, R6 etc.
Zipper5 replied to Second's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
I don't want Bad Company in Battlefield 3. That's my point. I want a game that is clearly a sequel to this: Not this: I want a proper Battlefield game, not another Bad Company under the title of Battlefield. While I don't dislike Bad Company, it isn't Battlefield to me. And Battlefield 3 seems to be taking way too much from Medal of Honor 2010, and DICE's part of that game was absolutely awful. -

Zipper5 replied to Second's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
The problem is that DICE have said many times Bad Company is a spinoff series and not a proper Battlefield game. That's why this is being called Battlefield 3 and not Battlefield: Bad Company 3, and that's why it looks all the more disappointing to me. :( -
Arma ii: Reinforcements - can't hit anything
Zipper5 replied to Taakmag's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Moved to the correct place and changed the thread title. As MadDogX rightly asks, where did you purchase the game from? I don't believe the requirements of RFT ever said Pentium 4 2.40GHz or faster... -
Please try to post in the correction sections as this section is for ARMA. You are playing ARMA 2. Moved to the correct place.
-
As JdB says there are no authorized CD key-only retailers for BI's games. None of the money you spent purchasing that CD key went to BI. We also do not give support for such things, so you are unfortunately out of luck unless you purchase a proper disc or downloadable version from a legitimate retailer. Also, please search before posting next time as this is not an offtopic discussion. Thread locked.

What Mosh said.

Not really. People are still upset about the near-future choice, and I'm sure they'll remain that way until release and beyond (I'm not one of them).

ArmA3 Interview with Ivan Buchta by nordrassilradio
Zipper5 replied to jerryhopper's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Because the CAA1 project stopped development a long time ago. Since then it has been other community members sporadically making their own updates for it. -
Please read over our forum rules. To me, it sounds more like you have an issue with your graphics card and/or its drivers. Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your graphics card and try running some diagnostic tests on it if it is still not working. And yes, to play "this one game" you're probably going to have to upgrade if you want to play it decently. Your PC is far too old. Thread locked.

Why not just add the tracks yourself?

If you crouch with an AT weapon in your hand and start sprinting you move way faster too, in any direction. ;)

Please note the following forum rule: However, I only gave you one warning for your cross-posting. Please take the time to post in proper English for the benefit of the non-native English speakers here. :) I'd imagine you should be able to run it fine, but it's way too early to tell. The minimum requirements are readily available and are revealed after the use of some searching: Operating system: Windows 7 / Vista Processor: Intel Core i5 or AMD Athlon Phenom X4 or faster Memory: 2 GB Video card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 or ATI Radeon HD 5770 with Shader Model 3 and 896 MB VRAM, or faster DVD: Dual Layer compatible Hard disk: 15 GB free space Other: DirectX® 10

What is wrong with the ARMA Community!

Okay folks, this thread has obviously run its course and it is not a place to be randomly advertising different clans. Thread locked.
